We so often forget to be grateful because we focus on the few so-called bad things in our lives. Be grateful for what you have every single day and you will quickly find that you will have a lot more to be thankful for. Practical Steps to Practicing Gratitude 1. Start using this gratitude journal, if not every day, then as often as you can. Start with a least 5 things you are grateful for, such as family and froends, a beautiful sunrise/sunset, frost on the trees, food, shelter, warm homes and workplaces, clothing, work/jobs, etc. 2. Keep in mind: Meister Eckhart's stating, "The most crucial prayer on the planet is simply two words: THANK YOU." 3. Do a gratitude alphabet exercise. In your journal notebook, (use the blank sheets) by writing the letters from A - Z. As quickly as you can, jot down I am grateful for ___________ beginning with the letter A and going through the alphabet.: I am grateful for apples, I am grateful for bananas, I am grateful for carrots, and so till you complete all the letters. 4. Start your day by being happy for all the blessings you have. 5. Practice an 'Act of Kindness' daily. 6. Try to find things that you can really applaud your partner for, or your child, your colleague, your staff members, the person who serves you - such as a waitress, mail carrier, paper messenger, law enforcement officer, and so on. 7. Thank the earth for sustaining your life by supplying air, food, and water. 8. Write a letter to the Universe professing your gratitude for all your blessings. 9. Thank your parents for providing you with the precious gift of life. 10. Thank the Universe for all the life lessons you have received. Finally, just be grateful that you are alive at this wonderful point in our history.
