This book was released on 2018-02-02 with total page 62 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This booklet, which appeared in Urdu under the title Musalmanon per Qur'an-e-Majeed Kay Huqooq, is based on two addresses delivered by Dr. Israr Ahmad to the Congregations in Jami'ah Khazra, Samanabad (Lahore) on two consecutive Fridays in January 1968, at a time when the Muslims of Pakistan were celebrating the 1400th anniversary of the commencement of the Revelation of the Holy Qur'an to Prophet Muhammad (saw). During the following month, speeches on similar topics were delivered by Dr. Israr Ahmad at the Ajmal Bagh College, Sadiqabad, Ta'meer-e-Millat High School, Sukkur, and Government College, Jhang. The text of these addresses and speeches was edited and published in the monthly Meesaq in its May and June issues of the same year. In November 1969, it appeared in the form of a booklet under the title mentioned above, and in July 1972 its second edition of ten thousand copies was published by the Markazi Anjuman Khuddam-ul-Qur'an, Lahore.Musalmanon per Qur'an-e-Majeed Kay Huqooq is an impassioned call to the Muslims "to return to the Qur'an," to rededicate themselves to its study, and make it the sole guide for their livesABOUT THE AUTHORDr. Israr Ahmed, the founder of "Markazi Anjuman Khuddam-ul-Quran Lahore" Pakistan, completed his M.B.B.S. from King Edward Medical College in 1954. From 1952-53 he was Nazim-l-Ala of Islamic jamiat-l-Tulaba; and in 1954 he joined jamat-i-Islami. He, however, dissociated from it in 1957. During a brief stay at Karachi, he completed his M.A. in Islamic studies in 1965 from Karachi University. In 1972 he founded Markazi Anjuman Khuddam-ul-Quran and in 1975 Tanzeemi-lslami for establishing the 'Deen' through a truely revolutionary process. The Anjuman brings out two monthly magazines "Meesaque" and "Hikmat-iQuran".
Book Synopsis Manuscripts, Politics and Oriental Studies by :
Download or read book Manuscripts, Politics and Oriental Studies written by and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2019-03-19 with total page 461 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Manuscripts, Politics and Oriental Studies commemorates the life and works of Johann Gottfried Wetzstein (1815-1905) as a scholar, manuscript collector, and consul in Berlin and Damascus. Beyond research into Wetzstein's own time, special attention is given to the impact his efforts to acquire manuscripts have had until this day. Several contributions also illustrate contemporary developments that give context to his own career as a scholar and diplomat. The particular focus of this volume allows to explore the history of Oriental scholarship not purely through the lens of academic posts and publications but encourages us to discover lifes such as Wetzstein's, without academic stardom yet laying the material foundations of textual work for generations. Contributors are Kaoukab Chebaro; François Déroche; Faustina Doufikar-Aerts; Alba Fedeli; Ludmila Hanisch †; Michaela Hoffmann-Ruf; Ingeborg Huhn; Robert Irwin; Boris Liebrenz; Astrid Meier; Samar El Mikati El Kaissi; Claudia Ott; Holger Preißler †; Christoph Rauch; Helga Rebhan; Anke Scharrahs; Jan Just Witkam.
Book Synopsis The Oxford Handbook of Qur'anic Studies by :
Download or read book The Oxford Handbook of Qur'anic Studies written by and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2020-04-28 with total page 957 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Traditionally revered as the literal word of God, the Qur’an serves as Islam’s sacred book of revelation. Accordingly, its statements and pronouncements rest at the core of the beliefs and teachings that have inexorably defined expressions of the Islamic faith. Indeed, over the centuries, engaging with and poring over the contents of the Qur’an inspired an impressive range of traditional scholarship. Notwithstanding its religious pre-eminence, the Qur’an is also considered to be the matchless masterpiece of the Arabic language and its impact as a text can be discerned in all aspects of the Arabic literary tradition. Presenting contributions from leading experts in the field, The Oxford Handbook of Qur’anic Studies offers an authoritative collection of chapters that guide readers through the gamut of themes, subjects, and debates that have dominated the academic study of the Qur’an and its literary heritage. These range from chapters that explore the text’s language, vocabulary, style, and structure, to detailed surveys of its contents, concepts, transmission, literary influence, historical significance, commentary tradition, and even the scholarship devoted to translations. With the aim of serving as an indispensable reference resource, the Handbook assesses the implications of research discourses and discussions shaping the study of the Qur’an today. There exists no single volume devoted to such a broad review of the scholarship on the Qur’an and its rich commentary tradition.
