En matière d'amélioration des conditions de travail, il n'existe pas, malheureusement, de recette infaillible. Il faut bâtir une solution « sur mesure » – c'est-à-dire adaptée aux problèmes techniques et humains de chaque entreprise – et être bien convaincu qu'il y a toujours quelque chose à faire pour améliorer une situation particulière. C'est dans cette perspective, que Claude Piganiol a écrit ce livre. En effet, après plusieurs années d'expérimentation dans les entreprises en France et à l'Étranger, on peut faire le point aujourd'hui, et affirmer avec l'auteur que, malgré les contraintes de la technologie et des coûts, il existe toujours une solution à un problème de travail, à condition de connaître les techniques d'amélioration et de faire preuve de réalisme. La panoplie des changements possibles est très large. Elle permet de concevoir une stratégie sociale combinant quatre éléments essentiels : - un diagnostic réaliste de la situation ; - l'exploration de l'éventail des aménagements matériels possibles ; - les tactiques à adopter vis-à-vis des salariés ; - les tactiques à adopter vis-à-vis des syndicats. Les solutions pratiques que propose Claude Piganiol ne sont pas toutes nouvelles, mais elles présentent l'intérêt d'être rassemblées en un ensemble logique et clair, qui fait de ce livre la première synthèse écrite en langue française sur ce très important sujet. Cet ouvrage est un manuel complet, destiné aux responsables de production, aux responsables des services du personnel, aux membres des Commissions amélioration des conditions de travai, dont c'est la vocation d'humaniser le travail ainsi qu'aux étudiants.
