How do we fully engage, embrace and receive from this unique season what is vital to learn? This whole-person integrated approach is not only unique, but it is based in solid research and helps give relief to the all-to-familiar ruts of heavy cognitive processing we find ourselves in during the stress of transition, that bring with it anxiety and such limited awareness. Through 6 main themes of transition, utilizing more than 35 holistic process tools-Movement tools, getting Unstuck tools, and Transition tools-you will find yourself with ample resources for creatively navigating your transition season! This resource guide can be utilized individually as a self- guided practice, or as a companion to the Art of Transition workshop experience, or 2-Day Life Planning process with your transition coach. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Spectral Methods in Transition Metal Complexes provides a conceptual understanding on how to interpret the optical UV-vis, vibrational EPR, and NMR spectroscopy of transition metal complexes. Metal complexes have broad applications across chemistry in the areas of drug discovery, such as anticancer drugs, sensors, special materials for specific requirements, and catalysis, so a thorough knowledge in preparation and characterization of metal complexes, while niche, is critical. Accessible to both the seasoned researcher and the graduate student alike, this book provides readers with a single source of content that addresses spectral methods in transition metal complexes. Provides readers with a single reference on metal complexes and coordination compounds Contains more than 100 figures, tables, and illustrations to aid in the retention of key concepts Authored by a scientist with nearly 40 years of experience in research and instruction
Book Synopsis Do agricultural projects help smallholders transition to better livelihood strategies? by : Hazell, Peter
Download or read book Do agricultural projects help smallholders transition to better livelihood strategies? written by Hazell, Peter and published by Intl Food Policy Res Inst. This book was released on with total page 29 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Agricultural projects typically aim to promote the uptake of project components amongst targeted farm populations to improve their on-farm productivity within a “theory of change” that leads to improvements in their welfare. While this approach can be an important first step towards improving smallholder livelihoods, it ignores alternative and often superior livelihood options that might arise within the rural transformation process. These options can be particularly important for agricultural value chain projects that generate new market opportunities and secondary off-farm income and employment growth within the rural nonfarm economy. We argue that the design of smallholder projects implemented within regions already undergoing a dynamic transformation and/or on projects which have significant value chain components, should be broadened to assist smallholders make successful transitions to their best livelihood options. For such projects, M&E should also track livelihood transitions as well as the usual assessments of progress made, the achievement of expected goals, and the identification of bottlenecks in implementation. To help operationalize such an approach, we propose a typology of smallholder livelihood strategies that can track transitions over time and illustrate its use with an IFAD funded agricultural value chain project in Malawi. Using econometric methods and available household panel data, we find that the project helped some smallholders transition out of subsistence farming to market farming with a corresponding increase in their per capita incomes. The project also helped some households transition to, or remain with, an off-farm income diversification strategy with favorable per capita income outcomes. This may reflect new opportunities that arose as spillover benefits from the project along local agricultural value chains and within the rural nonfarm economy more broadly. We conclude with some lessons for the design, monitoring and evaluation of future agricultural projects.
Book Synopsis Human Resource Strategies for Organizations in Transition by : R.J. Niehaus

This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 320 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume is the proceedings of a symposium entitled "Human Resource Strategies for Organizations in Transition" which was held at Salve Regina College, Newport, Rhode Island on May 30 - June 2, 1989. The meeting was sponsored by the Research Committee of the Human Resource Planning Society (HRPS). In developing the agenda, the Research Committee built upon the format of the previous HRPS research symposia. The intent in these meetings is on the linkage of the state-of-practice with the state-of-the-art. Particular attention was placed on research studies which were application oriented so that member organizations can see examples of ways to extend current practices with the knowledge presented by the applications. The meeting has sessions on: (1) Reshaping the Organization for the Twenty-first Century, (2) Coping with Major Organizational Change, (3) Organization Downsizing, (4) Evaluating the Human Resource Function and (5) The Impact of Corporate Culture on Future Human Resource Practices. Thirty papers were presented with discussion sessions at appropriate points in the meeting. This volume contains twenty one of these papers along with an introductory paper. A short summary is also provided at the beginning of each major subdivision into which the papers are arranged.

Book Synopsis An Analytical Study of V/STOL Handling Qualities in Hover and Transition by : R. L. Stapleford
Download or read book An Analytical Study of V/STOL Handling Qualities in Hover and Transition written by R. L. Stapleford and published by . This book was released on 1965 with total page 174 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The hover analysis considers pilot attitude and position control tasks in the presence of horizontal gusts. The effects of each of the stability derivatives on the difficulty of the control tasks and on the closed-loop gust responses are determined. It is clearly shown that the handling qualities studies of control sensitivity and angular damping must consider the influences of M sub u (or L sub v) and should include gust inputs. These conclusions are substantiated by previous variable-stability-helicopter experiments. The effects of vehicle size and geometry are investigated by several approaches. The key result of increasing size is found to be a reduction in M sub u and L sub v which can, in turn, lower the requirements for control power and damping. The handling qualities during transition of two vehicles, a tilt duct and a tilt wing, which were previously tested on a simulator are analyzed. It is shown that both trim control and perturbations about the trim conditions must be considered. In fact, part of the increased difficulty in landing transitions, in comparison with takeoff transitions, is due to more difficult trim control; the much more stringent position control requirements in landing are also a contributing factor.
