Book Synopsis Policy Statement on IMF Technical Assistance by : International Monetary Fund
Download or read book Policy Statement on IMF Technical Assistance written by International Monetary Fund and published by International Monetary Fund. This book was released on 2001-04-02 with total page 32 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This chapter presents policy statement on IMF technical assistance (TA) programs. The TA programs provide a cooperative framework for the sharing of knowledge and international experience, in a lasting manner, with member countries. The IMF seeks to provide technical assistance as efficiently and effectively as possible in its core substantive areas of competency namely macroeconomic policy formulation and management among others. Technical assistance is provided in a variety of forms. These include IMF staff missions from headquarters; the placement of experts for periods ranging from a few months to a few years. Technical assistance is provided only when requested by a country's authorities. Since the demand for such assistance normally exceeds the resources available from the IMF, a number of considerations are considered in prioritizing country requests. The IMF encourages member countries who have not yet done so to consider providing such complementary financial support to enhance the resources available for technical assistance, preferably in a manner that is as unrestricted as possible.

Book Synopsis Equity Expansive Technical Assistance for Schools by : Kathleen A. King Thorius
Download or read book Equity Expansive Technical Assistance for Schools written by Kathleen A. King Thorius and published by Teachers College Press. This book was released on 2023 with total page 209 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Based on the author’s experience leading equity-focused technical assistance centers, this book details approaches to partnering with educators and other stakeholders to eliminate racial disproportionality in special education. Because of its historical and current relevance as an indicator of systemic oppression, Thorius centers disproportionality as a crucial issue to be addressed through technical assistance partnerships. For these partnerships to be successful, technical assistance providers must: (1) support partners in engaging with systemic and individual oppressions that contribute to inequities at the intersections of racism and ableism, and (2) introduce their partners to resources that mediate learning about and developing locally relevant solutions that abolish racism and ableism in tandem. Equity Expansive Technical Assistance for Schools provides a research-based framework for conducting technical assistance, including vignettes and facilitation guides that educational leaders can use to address disproportionality in special education within their local contexts. Book Features: Detailed protocols for professional dialogue toward eliminating racial disproportionality in special education.Expanded definitions and descriptions of disproportionality as an issue of ableism, as well as racism.Real-life examples of technical assistance and professional development partnership activities that improve conditions leading to, and outcomes of, disproportionality.

Book Synopsis Collaborating with Community-based Organizations Through Consultation and Technical Assistance by : Patricia Stone Motes
Download or read book Collaborating with Community-based Organizations Through Consultation and Technical Assistance written by Patricia Stone Motes and published by Columbia University Press. This book was released on 2007 with total page 229 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Community groups and human service organizations are under a tremendous amount of pressure to strengthen their programs and measure the effectiveness of their work. These challenges have prompted many to seek consultation and technical assistance in order to better plan, develop, and evaluate their services and resources and be more responsive to the needs of funders and the community. In this volume, practitioners and researchers present methods and strategies for assisting and collaborating with groups and agencies serving families. Helping a community or organization involves many tasks (reaching out to the community, building leadership, developing and planning for action) and requires specialized knowledge and skills. Contributors combine a research-based, theoretical framework with practical guidance to explain this process and offer cross-cultural case studies in a wide range of settings. The book begins with a discussion of the role of the coach or capacity-building consultant and the related but distinct activities of consultation, technical assistance, and service. The value of empowerment theory, adult learning theory, and change theory, among other theories, are outlined. Special emphasis is placed on the importance of cultural competence-the need to balance diverse needs, ethical mandates, and dilemmas is crucial. The book concludes with a detailed, step-by-step guide for helping an agency or program perform a self-evaluation. Skilled consultation and assistance enable organizations to better support and strengthen families. While this book is grounded in research, it also reflects the lived experiences of each contributor and illuminates the complex yet vital role of the consultant.
