Book Synopsis Advancing East Asian Regionalism by : Melissa Curley
Download or read book Advancing East Asian Regionalism written by Melissa Curley and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2012-10-12 with total page 387 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Developments in East Asia have progressed rapidly in terms of regionalism since the 1997 crisis. The end of the Asian miracle called into question not only the capacity of regional states to meet the needs of their attendant peoples, but also challenged the viability of regional organizations, such as ASEAN, to adapt and respond to the changing circumstances. Advancing East Asian Regionalism looks at the ways in which ASEAN has expanded since the crisis, and evaluates the potential of East Asia to come together in a regional formation - one capable of representing the region as a whole - akin to the European Community. It draws upon the knowledge and perspectives of academics and policy makers actively engaged in the contradictory issues of regionalism. Coupling case study material on regionalism, institutions, and sectoral cooperation, with theoretical debates on regionalization, this book is an invaluable resource that pushes our understanding of East Asian regionalism forward.

Book Synopsis Small fish for food security and nutrition by : Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations
Download or read book Small fish for food security and nutrition written by Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations and published by Food & Agriculture Org.. This book was released on 2023-11-13 with total page 170 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Food insecurity, hunger and malnutrition have been on the rise in recent years, due to disruptions such as the COVID-19 pandemic, increasing climate shocks and conflicts. Decades of steady progress to reduce food insecurity and malnutrition were often attributed to increased food production and intensification of few food staple crops and livestock, however more recent focus has shifted to the role of small-scale producers and the importance of diverse and nutritious foods. This technical paper brings focus to the often overlooked ‘small fish’ which play an integral role in the food security, nutrition and livelihoods of the small-scale fisherfolk who harvest, process, market, trade and distribute small fish to communities near and far from water bodies. The technical paper explores the various dimensions of the ‘small fish food system’, addressing drivers, scales, interactions and multiple outcomes and trade-offs, such as that of small fish used for food versus feed. Throughout, the work applies a human-centred perspective, emphasizing how people are involved in various stages of a food system, and how interactions and networks between them play a role in food system dynamics and outcomes. It is also emphasizes how people play multiple roles within a food system, and thus should not be narrowly defined as fishers, processors or consumers. The paper documents project implementation and lessons from the FAO subprogramme titled “Implementing the Small-Scale Fisheries Guidelines for gender equitable and climate resilient food systems and livelihoods”, and the SmallFishFood, Ikan-F3, Dried Fish Matters, and Fish4Food projects led by the University of Bergen, the University of Amsterdam and the University of Manitoba.

This book was released on 2024-10-25 with total page 656 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Special education encounters distinct challenges in delivering personalized and practical assistance to students with disabilities. Educators frequently require support to address the varied needs of these students, resulting in learning and development gaps. Moreover, early identification and catering to these needs can take time and effort, affecting students' long-term academic success. There is an urgent need for innovative solutions that can bridge these gaps and improve the educational experiences of students with disabilities. Transforming Special Education Through Artificial Intelligence offers a comprehensive exploration of how Artificial Intelligence (AI) can transform special education by providing personalized and individualized support for students with disabilities. Through case studies and real-life examples, we demonstrate how AI can analyze data to tailor learning experiences, and most importantly, identify learning difficulties early. This crucial aspect of AI can significantly enhance communication among stakeholders and reassure them about the potential of AI in improving educational outcomes for students with disabilities.
