Book excerpt: Book 2.5 in the Heroes of Henderson series by USA Today Bestselling Author Liz Kelly Henderson's infamous Molly DuVal is desperate to move back home. Banished for the past five years, she plans to use her aunt’s wedding to show the Henderson elite that she is no longer the boy crazy, wild, party-girl exhibitionist they all loved to gossip about. Yeah. Good luck with that. Josh McCourt, mild-mannered AP Computer Science teacher and newest assistant coach to Henderson High's football team, is ready to break away from his low-key image and take a walk on the wild side. He’s looking for the type of girl who’d sneak into the boy’s locker room after practice and let him chase her around. He’s looking for Molly. When the bad-girl-turned-good faces off with the good-boy-looking-for-bad at the town’s biggest wedding, all of Henderson is watching from the sidelines. This is one game both Molly and Josh are determined to win. Taming Molly is a fun and sexy 20,000 word stand-alone novella and the first in the DuVal Cousins series. All the books in the Heroes of Henderson Series are complete romances. Book excerpt: Book 8 in the Heroes of Henderson series by USA Today bestselling author Liz Kelly McKenna Blakely’s greatest desire is to marry into the Wright family. Neither an absentee boyfriend, nor another woman, nor a hot, confident rock star is going to thwart her dream. Probably. Because Jagger Yates is not just the lead singer of McKenna’s favorite band, he’s her one-and-only celebrity crush. And he’s just asked her out. A rock star shouldn’t be stuck on the one woman who blew him off after a concert. There are so many fish in that sea. But Jagger is obsessed with the One Who Got Away. He’s pined for her, he’s written songs about her, he’s wallowed in the disheartening memory of her. So running into said muse? Totally knocks him off his game. For about four and a half seconds. Clearly the universe has spoken and, boyfriend or no, Jagger is locked in on McKenna, eager to coax her into changing her tune. And all of Henderson has a front-row seat for this sold-out performance. All the books in the Heroes of Henderson Series are complete romances. They do not need to be read in order, but it might be more fun that way as characters continue to show up in Henderson in big ways and small. Book Synopsis The Taming of The Shrew by : William Shakespeare
Download or read book The Taming of The Shrew written by William Shakespeare and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2014-09-25 with total page 480 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Taming of the Shrew is unique among Shakespeare's plays and is a perennial and compelling success in the theatre. Its reception is marked, however, by ongoing polarised debate over the meaning and worth of the play. This edition disengages Shakespeare's exuberant and disturbing marital farce from the tangled history of its reception. It views the two sixteenth-century Shrew plays as textually independent but theatrically interdependent and so includes the full text of The Taming of A Shrew in an appendix. While the Introduction and Commentary focus on the critical and theatrical debate surrounding the play, the original and comprehensive editing of the playtext makes available a 'different' Shrew, more open to the reader's interpretation than is usually the case. Barbara Hodgdon is a distinguished feminist scholar whose reading of the play offers a stimulating array of ideas and questions about this enduringly popular yet challenging comedy.

Book Synopsis Reading The Virginian in the New West by : Melody Graulich
Download or read book Reading The Virginian in the New West written by Melody Graulich and published by U of Nebraska Press. This book was released on 2003-01-01 with total page 324 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Although the origins of the western are as old as colonial westward expansion, it was Owen Wister?s novel The Virginian, published in 1902, that established most of the now-familiar conventions of the genre. On the heels of the classic western?s centennial, this collection of essays both re-examines the text of The Virginian and uses Wister?s novel as a lens for studying what the next century of western writing and reading will bring. The contributors address Wister?s life and travels, the novel?s influence on and handling of gender and race issues, and its illustrations and various retellings on stage, film, and television as points of departure for speculations about the ?new West??as indeed Wister himself does at the end of the novel. ø The contributors reconsider the novel?s textual complexity and investigate The Virginian's role in American literary and cultural history. Together their essays represent a new western literary studies, comparable to the new western history.
Download or read book The Tamer Tamed written by John Fletcher and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2014-05-29 with total page 218 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Tamer Tamed is the subtitle or alternative title to John Fletcher's The Woman's Prize, a comedic sequel and reply to The Taming of the Shrew. The plot switches the gender roles of Shakespeare's play: the women seek to tame the men. Katherine (the "shrew" of the original) has died, and Petruchio takes a second wife, Maria. Maria denounces her former mildness and vows not to sleep with Petruchio until she "turn him and bend him as [she] list, and mold him into a babe again." After many comedic exchanges and plot twists, Petruchio is finally "tamed" in the eyes of Maria, and the play ends with the two reconciled. The play is seen to reflect how society's views of women, femininity, and "domestic propriety" were beginning to change. It is said that Fletcher wrote this play to attract Shakespeare's attention - the two went on to collaborate on at least three plays together. This brand new New Mermaid edition offers unique and fresh insight into the critical interpretation of the play. It builds on current critical foundations (the relationship with Taming of the Shrew, gender relations etc) and suggests different areas of interest (popular associations of the shrew, the question of reputation, and a re-examination of the play's structure). as well as examining stage history and recent productions.
