Book Synopsis Read Us or Die by : Nicholas Grabowsky
Download or read book Read Us or Die written by Nicholas Grabowsky and published by Black Bed Sheet Books. This book was released on 2013-08-10 with total page 427 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The first official publisher’s anthology featuring the exemplary talents of the authors of BLACK BED SHEET BOOKS! "Black Bed Sheet is not only a publisher of fantastically creative horror books but knows the meaning of heart and integrity....Grabowsky has taken BBS to heights that few could have imagined with his drive, determination and talent, along with the talent in his stable. If you haven't read anything from BBS, it's past time you did but it's never too late!" --- Gene Tipton, A SHOT IN THE DARK COMICS "I had this idea for an anthology. A crazy, outside the box thought that I hoped would at least ignite some interest. Well, it not only ignited, the damn thing drenched the entire office at Black Bed Sheet Books and its publisher Nicholas Grabowsky in a orange and red hue of excitement. This has now become a solid joint effort spanning the many talented authors of Black Bed Sheet Books, highlighting the core value of writing: character depth. When Nick gave me the green light, I began to construct this list of talented writers. Some are veterans of the writing landscape [such as myself], others are brand new and cutting their jagged incisors deep into the skin of the publishing world. My only requirement for the authors became the simple task of all, write a story that has deep characters and emotion. A story evolves only so far as the characters propel it. I wanted the characters stripped down to their skeletons. Heroes, villains, somewhere in the middle? Bring them through the emotional grinder, chew them up, spit them out, where will it take the reader? Or, what about a few stories with different spins on such figures as Dracula, Adolph Hitler, the Devil, and Snow White. A few of these stories are dark in nature, or splashed with a form of comic ingenuity. Others are entrenched in history with a different spin that left me squirming in my seat. These authors are bright, fresh, talented, comedic, compassionate, and downright scary when they want to be. So sit back, turn off the lights, and read the book. Or die. I wouldn’t want that to happen to you, but then again once you step inside our world, anything can happen. Close your eyes. Take a breath. The sounds you hear are real. There is no turning back. Keep reading. Or die." --from Introduction by Jason Gehlert --Featuring the talents of— Fred Wiehe - Cinsearae Santiago - Brandon Ford Jessica Lynne Gardner - Lincoln Crisler - Jason Gehlert - William Cook - Reyna Young - Tom Sawyer - K.K. - Rey Otis - Shannon Lee - B.L. Book Synopsis Sorry About the Mess by : Hellogreedo
Download or read book Sorry About the Mess written by Hellogreedo and published by . This book was released on 2019-12-02 with total page 198 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Hi! I'm HelloGreedo. I started a Star Wars YouTube channel in 2011, and now I wrote a book. Writing Sorry About The Mess was a happy accident. In 2016, I enrolled in two college classes that had a four hour break between them. My goal was to use those four hours to work on scripts and videos for my YouTube channel. While I did hash out a lot of videos during that break, I also began typing random thoughts, chronicling some life experiences, and cataloging opinions on various subjects. Over the past three years, whenever I felt like it, I would add to the book. Slowly but surely those random thoughts formed into (semi) cohesive chapters, and those chapters became this book. Sorry About The Mess is a lot like my live streams; random and all over the place. I have a habit of ping-ponging from topic to topic. This book ended up being more personal than I originally anticipated. If you're looking for 200 pages of nothing but a Star Wars discussion, you might want to look elsewhere! In Sorry About The Mess, you'll follow me on a journey through fandom, fatherhood, the United States Navy, clickbait, social media, and much more! I named it Sorry About The Mess for a reason. I should have hired an editor... Chapters: The Origin Story Why Star Wars? Clickbait & Social Media YouTube My Top Ten Movies The United States Navy Video Games Being a Dad Supporter Q&A In Closing
Book Synopsis Experiencing Gigli with Quality Audio by : Paul James
Download or read book Experiencing Gigli with Quality Audio written by Paul James and published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing. This book was released on 2021-08-03 with total page 245 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Music is a foundational language of being human. The singing voice can speak and depict the human condition with great expressiveness, and plays a hugely important role in music. However, scant attention has been paid to vocal reproduction in hi fidelity reproduction of music. Despite his huge profile as an opera singer, now, many years after his passing, Beniamino Gigli has been overlooked by many. These two themes intersect as no artist no longer living can be better recognised than being brought back to life by playing their music. Yet, with a singing voice as remarkable as Gigli’s, no ordinary attempt at audio reproduction will do it justice. Not only does this book explore and explain what is involved in the hi fidelity reproduction of the voice, it also discusses why Gigli’s singing is special and is still relevant in our musical era. His music highlights in stark relief changes that have happened in the recording and playback of music. In addition, while changes to listening practices have been well-studied, the implications for the experience of music have not. As Ernest Hemmingway said, most people never listen. Listening is an art, choice and gift. Through Gigli, this book also provides insights into the value of thoughtful listening. Listening begins and ends with, and is inseparable from, patience. When we make the time, music can gives us a glimpse of something beyond the horizons of materialism or our contemporary values.

Download or read book He's So Shy written by Linda Cajio and published by Loveswept. This book was released on 2013-04-08 with total page 226 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this charming tale, a love for the ages leaps off the silver screen, as a famous movie star emerges from his shell—once and for all. When Penelope Marsh last laid eyes on the gorgeous man standing before her, Richard Creighton had been a skinny nerd with glasses. Now he’s one of the most popular actors in the world. The only reason he’s back in New Jersey is to play the lead in a period piece directed by Penelope’s cousin. But Penelope’s too old for a schoolgirl crush—especially when the crush in question is a sexy Hollywood hunk. Still sometimes shocked to be the object of a pretty woman’s desire, Richard is most comfortable with the cameras rolling, hiding behind the mask of his carefully crafted characters. Penelope’s presence on the set brings back memories of his painfully shy childhood—and yet he’s powerfully drawn to the willowy schoolteacher with the long legs and vivid blue eyes. Most celebrity romances must weather promiscuous starlets and invasive paparazzi, but Richard faces a different challenge altogether: proving that he’s come into his own since he was a kid—not to Penelope, but to himself. Includes a special message from the editor, as well as excerpts from these Loveswept titles: Along Came Trouble, The Notorious Lady Anne, and Unforgettable.

It’s late December between Ground Zero and Fatal Error, a winter of discontent for Jack who’s perhaps spending too much time hanging at Julio’s. An old contact, Edward Burkes, convinces him to take on a missing-person fix. As usual, nothing is as it seems, and the missing person isn’t exactly a person. In fact, it’s like nothing anyone has ever seen. And in the middle of all this, the mysterious Madame de Medici hires him to safeguard a valuable object. Simple, right? Not even close. Yep, Jack is back and, as usual, weird trouble is on his heels.

Book Synopsis What We Don't Talk About When We Talk About Fat by : Aubrey Gordon
Download or read book What We Don't Talk About When We Talk About Fat written by Aubrey Gordon and published by Beacon Press. This book was released on 2020-11-17 with total page 210 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From the creator of Your Fat Friend and co-host of the Maintenance Phase podcast, an explosive indictment of the systemic and cultural bias facing plus-size people. Anti-fatness is everywhere. In What We Don’t Talk About When We Talk About Fat, Aubrey Gordon unearths the cultural attitudes and social systems that have led to people being denied basic needs because they are fat and calls for social justice movements to be inclusive of plus-sized people’s experiences. Unlike the recent wave of memoirs and quasi self-help books that encourage readers to love and accept themselves, Gordon pushes the discussion further towards authentic fat activism, which includes ending legal weight discrimination, giving equal access to health care for large people, increased access to public spaces, and ending anti-fat violence. As she argues, “I did not come to body positivity for self-esteem. I came to it for social justice.” By sharing her experiences as well as those of others—from smaller fat to very fat people—she concludes that to be fat in our society is to be seen as an undeniable failure, unlovable, unforgivable, and morally condemnable. Fatness is an open invitation for others to express disgust, fear, and insidious concern. To be fat is to be denied humanity and empathy. Studies show that fat survivors of sexual assault are less likely to be believed and less likely than their thin counterparts to report various crimes; 27% of very fat women and 13% of very fat men attempt suicide; over 50% of doctors describe their fat patients as “awkward, unattractive, ugly and noncompliant”; and in 48 states, it’s legal—even routine—to deny employment because of an applicant’s size. Advancing fat justice and changing prejudicial structures and attitudes will require work from all people. What We Don’t Talk About When We Talk About Fat is a crucial tool to create a tectonic shift in the way we see, talk about, and treat our bodies, fat and thin alike.
