Book excerpt: Ignite Your Beacon is about uncovering truth, living with intention, and contributing your gifts to the world. It is "Tony Robbins meets Rich Mullins." It is a combination of a self-help and others-help book, an empowerment tool seeking to help individuals uncover potentially long-neglected tools and skills that were contained since birth, and encourage them to employ these skills in new and powerful ways. The book talks about dissembling fear one brick at a time, employing the deep drives that have composed the threads of your spirit from your youth, approaching life with courage on a daily basis, and experiencing the synergistic existence that is a natural by-product of helping others to do all of the above, as well. Most non-fiction books cover ground in relation to a handful of topics, but they may not show how these topics are connected, let alone why they matter to the reader, and what to do about it. Ignite Your Beacon is a book aimed at solving this problem. It is a book that not only informs, but equips the reader to render themselves 180 degrees within the most valuable and actionable arenas of life. This book is a great read for anyone that is interested in motivational non-fiction and is a fan of Tony Robbins, Jim Rohn, Rich Mullins, Dale Partridge, Zig Ziglar, Dale Carnegie, Dale Partridge, Robert Kiyosaki, Donald Trump, Malcolm Gladwell and Nick Vujicic....

Book excerpt: The #1 New York Times bestseller that has all America talking—with a new afterword on expanding your range—as seen on CNN's Fareed Zakaria GPS, Morning Joe, CBS This Morning, and more. “The most important business—and parenting—book of the year.” —Forbes “Urgent and important. . . an essential read for bosses, parents, coaches, and anyone who cares about improving performance.” —Daniel H. Pink Shortlisted for the Financial Times/McKinsey Business Book of the Year Award Plenty of experts argue that anyone who wants to develop a skill, play an instrument, or lead their field should start early, focus intensely, and rack up as many hours of deliberate practice as possible. If you dabble or delay, you’ll never catch up to the people who got a head start. But a closer look at research on the world’s top performers, from professional athletes to Nobel laureates, shows that early specialization is the exception, not the rule. David Epstein examined the world’s most successful athletes, artists, musicians, inventors, forecasters and scientists. He discovered that in most fields—especially those that are complex and unpredictable—generalists, not specialists, are primed to excel. Generalists often find their path late, and they juggle many interests rather than focusing on one. They’re also more creative, more agile, and able to make connections their more specialized peers can’t see. Provocative, rigorous, and engrossing, Range makes a compelling case for actively cultivating inefficiency. Failing a test is the best way to learn. Frequent quitters end up with the most fulfilling careers. The most impactful inventors cross domains rather than deepening their knowledge in a single area. As experts silo themselves further while computers master more of the skills once reserved for highly focused humans, people who think broadly and embrace diverse experiences and perspectives will increasingly thrive.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Why do some people with so much go nowhere and some with so little go so far? What leads a poor kid to become champion of the world? Steve Karagioules—an athlete, corporate trainer, motivational speaker, husband, and father—explores the traits that separate strong performers from underperformers and also reveals in this guide to achieving success the five key principles to success. He shares insights such as the following: —The greats understand that common effort does not lead to uncommon results. By doing what most others won’t, they achieve what most others don’t. —Your potential and greatness aren’t measured by your bank account; that is a really narrow way to think about greatness. Your greatness is about going after your best. —To become a champion, stopping isn’t an option. You must continue to work every day to achieve your full potential. Learn what keeps people from succeeding, how to define success for yourself, and about the five simple “heartbeats” that will help you go further than ever before.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The story is of a young Chahta-Choctaw boy¿s odyssey into manhood prior to the European discovery of the Americas. The young man Issi, Deer, lives at Nanih Wayia, the Chahta ¿Mother Site,¿ Winston County, Mississippi. Throughout the story, Issi shows a great deal of character as he nears adulthood, mixing the real world with the spirit world. In a cross-cultural way, the story is a kind of imaginary time travel, where people lived quite differently from us, yet were as human and as loving, having the same feelings and hopes but expressing and achieving them with different thoughts and actions. They are referred as the Oklafihna and the Chito, meaning the Great People. The Oklafihna are a village and community, and a part of the greater collegium of peoples later known as the Chahta. Within the story are brief glimpses of the people, the geographic place, and the environment. The story is a fictional adventure, placed primarily in Mississippi and the adjacent states. Comments on the ethnographic customs and descriptions of daily living and activities are based upon the written literature, enhanced by the writer¿s personal interpretations of the Southeastern United States Indians and their archaeology, and imagination. Many places referenced are actual, though little known. Brief historical comment is made of places when important to the understanding of the story and place. The story hopefully builds a believably real and acceptable construct of Issi¿s time, place, and adventure, mixed with the spirit world. Moderate use of Chahta words throughout the story lend authenticity. About the Author Richard Arling Marshall has spent more than fifty years as a teacher and archeologist. Born in 1928 in Belen, New Mexico, he grew up in Missouri, graduating with a bachelor¿s in art and science and obtained a master¿s degree in anthropology from the University of Missouri, Columbia, Missouri. After 1966 the author was associated with the Department of Sociology and Anthropology and the Cobb Institute of Archaeology, Mississippi State University, as professor of anthropology, and conducted research and salvage archaeology and Cultural Resource Surveys throughout that state. He retired in 1994 as associate professor of anthropology emeritus. The author¿s wife is Helen Justine Noe, formerly of Lilbourn, Missouri. Together they have two daughters and five grandchildren.
