Maybe through those stories the person reading will be released from their bonds and are free inside to let their own stories come alive. I like the Daily Snapshots, they tell a brief lurid event happening at the moment. Stand back and let the story happen. A fresh outlook in seeing the world around you.

Designed to complement the successful elementary and middle school books in the series, this book also provides guidance on how to plan effective lessons that align with SHAPE America’s National Standards and Grade-Level Outcomes for K-12 Physical Education. Lesson Planning for High School Physical Education is written by master teachers and edited by SHAPE America. In this book, you’ll find: • More than 240 lesson plans that provide deliberate, progressive practice tasks and integrate appropriate assessments to evaluate and monitor student progress • Innovative and unique modules on topics such as fly fishing, rock climbing, line dance, yoga and stress management, and more, as well as more traditional modules • Introductory chapters that present the key points for the grade span, putting the lessons in context and providing teachers and PE majors and minors a clear roadmap for planning curricula, units, and lessons • Lessons that reflect best practices in instruction, helping teachers enhance their effectiveness • Expert guidance in delivering quality lessons that are designed to reach objectives and produce outcomes, and not just keep students occupied The lessons correspond to each category in SHAPE America’s National Standards and Grade-Level Outcomes for K-12 Physical Education, and are sequential and comprehensive—you get complete, ready-to-use units and not just individual lessons that don’t connect. The lessons include resource lists, references, equipment lists, and student assignments. The accompanying web resource offers easy access to printable PDF files of the lessons. Your administrator will be able to see at a glance that the lessons in the book are designed to meet the national standards and outcomes created by SHAPE America. The lessons in Lesson Planning for High School Physical Education can be used as they are or modified to fit the needs of your students. They also are perfect models for teachers and college students to use in creating their own lessons. The text includes instructional strategies such as how to teach for transfer, utilize grids and small games, differentiate instruction for varying ability levels, integrate conceptual material, and more. The book is organized into two parts. Part I explores issues pertinent to planning for high schoolers’ success, including how to plan lessons using SHAPE America’s Grade-Level Outcomes, meeting the National Standards and Grade-Level Outcomes, developing an electives-based program for high school students, and the importance of teaching for student learning. The lesson plans themselves are found in Part II, and each lesson aligns with SHAPE America’s National Standards and Grade-Level Outcomes for K-12 Physical Education. Part II offers plans in these categories: • Outdoor pursuits • Individual-performance activities • Net and wall games, such as badminton and tennis • Target games • Dance and rhythms • Fitness activities, such as Pilates, resistance training, and yoga • Personal fitness assessment and planning Each category contains modules of 15 or 16 lessons, each of which incorporates various National Standards and Grade-Level Outcomes. For example, you can address Standard 4 outcomes—which are about personal and social responsibility—during lessons on net and wall games, lessons on dance and rhythms, and so on. With the high-quality lesson content and the many tools and resources provided, Lesson Planning for High School Physical Education will help teachers foster their students’ physical literacy and help students develop physically active lifestyles that they can maintain throughout their adult lives.
Download or read book Baltimore Orioles written by Jeff Seidel and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2017-06-20 with total page 289 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Baltimore Orioles: Where Have You Gone? is a unique look at what a number of former Orioles personalities have gone on to do in life since their playing careers ended. Author Jeff Seidel spoke with a wide-ranging selection of former Baltimore players, from stars like Cal Ripken Jr. and Brooks Robinson to those who had only their “fifteen minutes” of fame, like Dave Criscione and John Stefero. A common thread seems to be how many of the former Orioles stayed in baseball in some form, like Ripken, who started his own minor league team in Aberdeen, Maryland, something that’s clearly close to his heart; or former catcher Andy Etchebarren, a longtime minor league manager and coach. Baltimore Orioles: Where Have You Gone?, first published in 2006 and newly updated through the 2016 season, features men like Mike Flanagan, the Cy Young Award–winning lefty who anchored the Orioles pitching staff in the late ’70s and early ’80s, finally becoming the team’s pitching coach and co–general manager. The book also includes a chapter on Tommy Davis, the team’s first designated hitter, who tells how he came up with a key base hit after nearly missing his at-bat because he was talking on the clubhouse telephone; Doug DeCinces, faced with the cruel task of taking over for Brooks Robinson at third base, talking about the huge pressure he faced and how he truly appreciated playing for the Orioles; and finally the legendary Robinson himself, still a fan favorite over 35 years after retiring, telling how he told the Chicago White Sox thanks, but no thanks, when they asked him about managing. It’s all here; perfect for any Orioles fan!

Book Synopsis Formula One Famous Failures by : Matthew Teaters
Download or read book Formula One Famous Failures written by Matthew Teaters and published by Trafford Publishing. This book was released on 2009-03-06 with total page 98 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Created in 1950, the Formula One World Championship is the pinnacle of auto racing. The most popular form of motor sports on Earth, some of its marquee teams are known throughout the world, such as Ferrari, McLaren, and Lotus. Formula Ones glamorous outlook and incredible marketing power make one believe that it is a fantasy world of expensive machinery and super hero drivers, a dazzling array of lines and colors. But if one looks closer into the history of the world Championship, one will notice another side to Formula one, a side of failure. It is obvious that not every car can be a Lotus 49 or a Williams FW 14B. And not every engine can have the impact of a Ford Cosworth DFV or a Honda turbo, in fact very few are, but some stand out as some of Formula Ones most famous failures. What are the worst? That is certainly open to debate. Each year, for every winner, there are numerous disappointments, but this novel hopes to illustrate the fights and famines of the Grand Prix World.

Book Synopsis I Wasn't Supposed to Live! by : Bob Scott
Download or read book I Wasn't Supposed to Live! written by Bob Scott and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2020-09-25 with total page 218 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Bob survived his premature birth after sharing the womb with his dead, decomposing twin. He was born in Putman county, Indiana, in a farmhouse with no hospitalization. The delivering doctor told his father he would not live through the night. At seven years of age, he was diagnosed with surviving twin syndrome. His curiosity of how things worked helped shape much of his activity in his early years. Through the years, he developed a reputation for being able to fix almost anything that quit or broke, except for a broken grasshopper's leg. Bob spent four years in the United States Air Force, serving two years in Germany as the maintenance crew chief on the ground-to-ground Mace Missile. Upon discharge, Bob went to work for ITT Electro Optics, where he spent thirteen years. Six months after leaving his position at ITT, he had lunch with his previous boss, who informed him that ITT had hired six people to do all the things he had done for ITT. Bob spent fifteen weeks behind the Iron Curtain in the Ukraine, USSR, in 1981 and 1982-years that were stressful and educational. A meeting with "the Russians" in November 1981 may have helped contribute to the fall of the USSR. In 1984, Bob took the position of motor manufacturing engineer at Chamberlain Consumer Group. Bob retired after twenty-one years with Chamberlain where he was affectionately known as the Motor Man. When informed of a need for something new by friends, Bob would design the item on his computer then produce a prototype, proof of performance product, and deliver it and the prints to the one who had the need, stating "Here you go, you can patent it." 2nd Safe, an added safety for law enforcement weapons, is one of those items.
