Download or read book Precursor-Derived Ceramics written by Joachim Bill and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2008-07-11 with total page 313 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The production of high-purity ceramic materials from low-molecular weight, inorganic or organoelement precursors is a topic of increasing relevance within materials science. With this emerging technology it is possible to precisely tailor the properties of the ceramic material which enables new high-temperature or electronic applications. Every materials scientist and engineer involved in the research and development of new high-performance ceramic materials will find these results - presented at a recent workshop of the Max-Planck-Gesellschaft - of great importance for his own work.
Book Synopsis Silicon Carbide One-dimensional Nanostructures by : Laurence Latu-Romain
Download or read book Silicon Carbide One-dimensional Nanostructures written by Laurence Latu-Romain and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2015-02-23 with total page 150 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Dedicated to SiC-based 1D nanostructures, this book explains the properties and different growth methods of these nanostructures. It details carburization of silicon nanowires, a growth process for obtaining original Si-SiC core-shell nanowires and SiC nanotubes of high crystalline quality, thanks to the control of the siliconout-diffusion. The potential applications of these particular nano-objects is also discussed, with regards to their eventual integration in biology, energy and electronics.
Book Synopsis Carbide, Nitride and Boride Materials Synthesis and Processing by : A.W. Weimer
Download or read book Carbide, Nitride and Boride Materials Synthesis and Processing written by A.W. Weimer and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 675 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Carbide, Nitride and Boride Materials Synthesis and Processing is a major reference text addressing methods for the synthesis of non-oxides. Each chapter has been written by an expert practising in the subject area, affiliated with industry, academia or government research, thus providing a broad perspective of information for the reader. The subject matter ranges from materials properties and applications to methods of synthesis including pre- and post-synthesis processing. Although most of the text is concerned with the synthesis of powders, chapters are included for other materials such as whiskers, platelets, fibres and coatings. Carbide, Nitride and Boride Materials Synthesis and Processing is a comprehensive overview of the subject and is suitable for practitioners in the industry as well as those looking for an introduction to the field. It will be of interest to chemical, mechanical and ceramic engineers, materials scientists and chemists in both university and industrial environments working on or with refractory carbides, nitrides and borides.
Book Synopsis Catalytic Synthesis of Silicon Carbide Preceramic Polymers by :
Download or read book Catalytic Synthesis of Silicon Carbide Preceramic Polymers written by and published by . This book was released on 1992 with total page 5 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Polycarbosilanes are the most successful and widely studied class of polymer precursors for silicon carbide, but traditional methods for their synthesis are inefficient and nonselective. This project is focused on developing transition metal catalysts for the synthesis of polycarbosilanes and other preceramic polymers. In recent work we have developed the first homogeneous transition metal catalysts for the dehydrogenative coupling of simple alkyl silanes to oligomeric and polymeric carbosilanes, H-(SiR[sub 2]CR[prime][sub 2])n-SiR[sub 3]. The coupling of alkylgermanes, however, yields the corresponding oligomeric poly(germanes) (Ge-Ge). Future work will help elucidate the mechanisms of these catalytic process, explore the use of hydrogen acceptors as reaction accelerators, and develop new and more active catalysts.
