Book Synopsis Pediatric Critical Care Study Guide by : Steven E. Lucking
Download or read book Pediatric Critical Care Study Guide written by Steven E. Lucking and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-04-10 with total page 971 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the first comprehensive study guide covering all aspects of pediatric critical care medicine. It fills a void that exists in learning resources currently available to pediatric critical care practitioners. The major textbooks are excellent references, but do not allow concise reading on specific topics and are not intended to act as both text and study guide. There are also several handbooks available, but these are usually written for general pediatric residents and lack the advanced physiology and pathophysiology required for the higher level pediatric critical care practitioner

There are profound changes in sleep and circadian rhythm during growth and maturation. Sleep is particularly important in children, due to
Book Synopsis Obstructive and Central Sleep Apnea by : Joan McCormick
Download or read book Obstructive and Central Sleep Apnea written by Joan McCormick and published by Nova Science Publishers. This book was released on 2015 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The spectrum of sleep-disordered breathing ranges from primary snoring at one end to obstructive sleep apnea and central sleep apnea at the other end. The first chapter in this book provides current state of knowledge about the mechanisms of obstructive sleep apnea and central sleep apnea and reviews emerging therapies for these disorders. Furthermore, sleep apnea usually has multifactorial causes and affects multiple organic systems resulting in increased cardiovascular morbidity, disturbing sleep quality, metabolic balance, glucose and cholesterol levels, arterial hypertension and thus increasing cardiopulmonary and vascular morbidity. The second chapter summarises the main findings in literature and provides a brief and concise differential diagnosis. The authors of the third chapter expose and discuss current evidence of neurosurgical conditions and their role in the genesis and progression of sleep apnea. They emphasise the adequate treatment and future perspectives. The following chapter examine the effect of obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS) on the eye. Different ophthalmologic disorders are associated with OSAS including floppy eyelid syndrome, retinal vein occlusion, and central serious retinopathy. The last chapter in this book is focused on QT dispersion in patients with obstructive sleep apnea, with increased QT dispersion potentially reflecting disturbed myocardial repolarisation and predisposition to cardiac arrhythmias.

Book excerpt: This book is published at a time when more and more advances are being made to bridge the gap between basic and clinical neuroscience. It is primarily intended for scientists and clinicians intent on linking the neurobiology of sleep with its associated disorders. Topics were selected that illustrate how contemporary research is being translated into clinical insights and therapies. The contributed chapters were written by scientists actively working at the interface between basic and applied sleep science, with subjects ranging from the mechanisms of intracellular signal transduction to the effects of ambient geophysical cycles. Essays include the physiologic regulation of sleep and its homeostatic collapse, the underlying neural and chemical circuitry, and the biological basis for new therapies using melatonin and environmental light.

Download or read book Syndrome d'apnées obstructives du sommeil chez les femmes jeunes hypertendues written by Céline Mornas and published by . This book was released on 2015 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
Book Synopsis Le sommeil de l'enfant by : Marie-Josèphe Challamel
Download or read book Le sommeil de l'enfant written by Marie-Josèphe Challamel and published by Elsevier Masson. This book was released on 2012-01-01 with total page 209 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
