Book Synopsis Bounded Symmetric Domains In Banach Spaces by : Cho-ho Chu
Download or read book Bounded Symmetric Domains In Banach Spaces written by Cho-ho Chu and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2020-09-10 with total page 406 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This timely book exposes succinctly recent advances in the geometric and analytic theory of bounded symmetric domains. A unique feature is the unified treatment of both finite and infinite dimensional symmetric domains, using Jordan theory in tandem with Lie theory. The highlights include a generalized Riemann mapping theorem, which realizes a bounded symmetric domain as the open unit ball of a complex Banach space with a Jordan structure. Far-reaching applications of this realization in complex geometry and function theory are discussed. This monograph is intended as a convenient reference for researchers and graduate students in geometric analysis, infinite dimensional holomorphy as well as functional analysis and operator theory.
Book Synopsis Lattice Structures on Banach Spaces by : Nigel John Kalton
Download or read book Lattice Structures on Banach Spaces written by Nigel John Kalton and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 1993 with total page 105 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The general problem addressed in this work is to characterize the possible Banach lattice structures that a separable Banach space may have. The basic questions of uniqueness of lattice structure for function spaces have been studied before, but here the approach uses random measure representations for operators in a new way to obtain more powerful conclusions.
Book Synopsis Symmetric Banach Manifolds and Jordan C*-Algebras by : H. Upmeier
Download or read book Symmetric Banach Manifolds and Jordan C*-Algebras written by H. Upmeier and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2011-08-18 with total page 457 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book links two of the most active research areas in present day mathematics, namely Infinite Dimensional Holomorphy (on Banach spaces) and the theory of Operator Algebras (C*-Algebras and their non-associative generalizations, the Jordan C*-Algebras). It organizes in a systematic way a wealth of recent results which are so far only accessible in research journals and contains additional original contributions. Using Banach Lie groups and Banach Lie algebras, a theory of transformation groups on infinite dimensional manifolds is presented which covers many important examples such as Grassmann manifolds and the unit balls of operator algebras. The theory also has potential importance for mathematical physics by providing foundations for the construction of infinite dimensional curved phase spaces in quantum field theory.

Book Synopsis Topics in Banach Space Theory by : Fernando Albiac
Download or read book Topics in Banach Space Theory written by Fernando Albiac and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-07-19 with total page 512 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This text provides the reader with the necessary technical tools and background to reach the frontiers of research without the introduction of too many extraneous concepts. Detailed and accessible proofs are included, as are a variety of exercises and problems. The two new chapters in this second edition are devoted to two topics of much current interest amongst functional analysts: Greedy approximation with respect to bases in Banach spaces and nonlinear geometry of Banach spaces. This new material is intended to present these two directions of research for their intrinsic importance within Banach space theory, and to motivate graduate students interested in learning more about them. This textbook assumes only a basic knowledge of functional analysis, giving the reader a self-contained overview of the ideas and techniques in the development of modern Banach space theory. Special emphasis is placed on the study of the classical Lebesgue spaces Lp (and their sequence space analogues) and spaces of continuous functions. The authors also stress the use of bases and basic sequences techniques as a tool for understanding the isomorphic structure of Banach spaces. From the reviews of the First Edition: "The authors of the book...succeeded admirably in creating a very helpful text, which contains essential topics with optimal proofs, while being reader friendly... It is also written in a lively manner, and its involved mathematical proofs are elucidated and illustrated by motivations, explanations and occasional historical comments... I strongly recommend to every graduate student who wants to get acquainted with this exciting part of functional analysis the instructive and pleasant reading of this book..."—Gilles Godefroy, Mathematical Reviews

Book Synopsis Handbook of the Geometry of Banach Spaces by :
Download or read book Handbook of the Geometry of Banach Spaces written by and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2001-08-15 with total page 1017 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Handbook presents an overview of most aspects of modernBanach space theory and its applications. The up-to-date surveys, authored by leading research workers in the area, are written to be accessible to a wide audience. In addition to presenting the state of the art of Banach space theory, the surveys discuss the relation of the subject with such areas as harmonic analysis, complex analysis, classical convexity, probability theory, operator theory, combinatorics, logic, geometric measure theory, and partial differential equations. The Handbook begins with a chapter on basic concepts in Banachspace theory which contains all the background needed for reading any other chapter in the Handbook. Each of the twenty one articles in this volume after the basic concepts chapter is devoted to one specific direction of Banach space theory or its applications. Each article contains a motivated introduction as well as an exposition of the main results, methods, and open problems in its specific direction. Most have an extensive bibliography. Many articles contain new proofs of known results as well as expositions of proofs which are hard to locate in the literature or are only outlined in the original research papers. As well as being valuable to experienced researchers in Banach space theory, the Handbook should be an outstanding source for inspiration and information to graduate students and beginning researchers. The Handbook will be useful for mathematicians who want to get an idea of the various developments in Banach space theory.

Book Synopsis Smooth Analysis in Banach Spaces by : Petr Hájek
Download or read book Smooth Analysis in Banach Spaces written by Petr Hájek and published by Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co KG. This book was released on 2014-10-29 with total page 589 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is about the subject of higher smoothness in separable real Banach spaces. It brings together several angles of view on polynomials, both in finite and infinite setting. Also a rather thorough and systematic view of the more recent results, and the authors work is given. The book revolves around two main broad questions: What is the best smoothness of a given Banach space, and its structural consequences? How large is a supply of smooth functions in the sense of approximating continuous functions in the uniform topology, i.e. how does the Stone-Weierstrass theorem generalize into infinite dimension where measure and compactness are not available? The subject of infinite dimensional real higher smoothness is treated here for the first time in full detail, therefore this book may also serve as a reference book.

Book Synopsis Banach Spaces with a Unique Unconditional Basis, up to Permutation by : Jean Bourgain
Download or read book Banach Spaces with a Unique Unconditional Basis, up to Permutation written by Jean Bourgain and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 1985 with total page 119 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the memoir we examine the question which Banach spaces have a unique unconditional basis, up to equivalence and permutation. We solve this question for some infinite direct sums of classical sequence spaces and for a Tsirelson type space. We also classify, up to isomorphism, all the complemented subspaces of some of the examples mentioned above.
Book Synopsis Ordered Structures and Applications by : Marcel de Jeu
Download or read book Ordered Structures and Applications written by Marcel de Jeu and published by Birkhäuser. This book was released on 2016-09-22 with total page 516 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents the proceedings of Positivity VII, held from 22-26 July 2013, in Leiden, the Netherlands. Positivity is the mathematical field concerned with ordered structures and their applications in the broadest sense of the word. A biyearly series of conferences is devoted to presenting the latest developments in this lively and growing discipline. The lectures at the conference covered a broad spectrum of topics, ranging from order-theoretic approaches to stochastic processes, positive solutions of evolution equations and positive operators on vector lattices, to order structures in the context of algebras of operators on Hilbert spaces. The contributions in the book reflect this variety and appeal to university researchers in functional analysis, operator theory, measure and integration theory and operator algebras. Positivity VII was also the Zaanen Centennial Conference to mark the 100th birth year of Adriaan Cornelis Zaanen, who held the chair of Analysis in Leiden for more than 25 years and was one of the leaders in the field during his lifetime.
