Book Synopsis Surface Characterization of Chemically Treated Titanium and Titanium Alloys by : Alain A. Roche
Download or read book Surface Characterization of Chemically Treated Titanium and Titanium Alloys written by Alain A. Roche and published by . This book was released on 1980 with total page 180 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A thorough knowledge of adherend surfaces is necessary to adequately evaluate adhesive bond joint performance. Auger Electron Spectroscopy (AES), Secondary Ion Mass Spectroscopy (SIMS), SCanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), and X-Ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS) were used to characterize the surface topography (roughness, selective etching) composition (relative concentration of alloyed element on surface, contaminated overlayer ...) chemical state (titanium or alloy surface oxide, oxy-fluoride ...) and oxide thickness of different chemically treated titanium alloys. Seven alloys and the metal were conditioned with seven different chemical treatments. Data from each treated alloy has been compiled to show physical and chemical effects of each treatment on each alloy. (Author).

Book Synopsis Surface Characterization of an Organized Titanium Dioxide Layer by : Travis Curtis
Download or read book Surface Characterization of an Organized Titanium Dioxide Layer written by Travis Curtis and published by . This book was released on 2013 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Soft lithographic printing techniques can be used to control the surface morphology of titanium dioxide layers on length scales of several hundred nanometers. Controlling surface morphology and volumetric organization of titanium dioxide electrodes can potentially be used in dye-sensitized solar cell devices. This thesis explores how layer-by-layer replication can lead to well defined, dimensionally controlled volumes and details how these control mechanisms influence surface characteristics of the semiconducting oxide.

Book Synopsis Characterization of Titanium Metal Powder by Pulsed NMR. by :
Download or read book Characterization of Titanium Metal Powder by Pulsed NMR. written by and published by . This book was released on 1977 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Moisture absorption as a function of surface area in titanium metal powders was studied by pulsed NMR. Wet samples were air-dried for 16 days under normal laboratory conditions (20 to 22°C, 40 to 60 percent relative humidity) and the moisture contents were compared with those of vacuum-dried (200°C, 1.33 mPa) samples and vacuum-dried samples exposed to 50 percent relative humidity. For one sample, the drying efficiency of 100°C as compared to 200°C, as well as the moisture absorption capacity as a function of time, was also studied. The moisture, hydride hydrogen (TiH2), and oxygen contents of titanium metal powders were found to be functions of surface area. Moisture absorbed was a linear function and hydrogen and oxygen were exponential functions of surface area. Titanium metal powder absorbs an equilibrium value of moisture (approximately 0.60 wt percent) within one hour of exposure to 50 percent relative humidity. The drying of titanium metal powder was found to be as effective at 100°C as at 200°C.
