III.--North Shore, St. Ignace To Cape Hurd, At South Side Of Entrance To Georgian Bay. (a) From Point St. Ignace to Detour Passage. A detached spot with a depth of 17 feet lies i mile SE. by S. off the southeasterly point of Rabbits Back Peak. Another detached 17-foot spot lies 1 i miles offshore about halfway between Rabbitts Back Peak and Gross Point. East of Gross Point, at a distance of g mile, there is a 9-foot spot. From the southerly end of He St. Martin, rocky shoals and spits with depths of 4 to 14 feet extend south and southeast 1J miles. South of Point St. Martin, at a distance of jj mile, there is a rocky reef with a least depth of 8 feet, running 1J miles in an east and west direction. There is good water between the point and the reef. Go: ise Island Shoal, a dangerous reef lying 3 miles southwest of Goose Island, has a least depth of 5 feet; it extends j mile north and south, and is i mile in breadth. Great care should be taken to avoid it. Goose Island is surrounded by shoals, and a rocky reef extends from its southerly end, 1 mile in a SSE. direction. Along the coast from Point Fuyards to Beaver Tail Point, there are many indentations formed by the islands of Les Cheueaux.
