Book Synopsis Supernumerary Intelligence by : John W. Dickey
Download or read book Supernumerary Intelligence written by John W. Dickey and published by IAP. This book was released on 2015-02-01 with total page 401 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Much of our life is consumed looking for quantitative relationships. For example, How much more sleep do I need at night to make me feel better? How many calories do I need to eliminate to lose weight? How much larger does my budget on the job need to be for me to be more effective? All these quantitative questions are preceded, and depend on, qualitative questions. For example, before I decide how much extra sleep I need at night, I need to determine if extra sleep will actually make me feel better. In another example, I need to determine if a larger budget will make me more effective on the job, before I think about how much more money I will need. What elements influence job performance, and how do they interact? We spend much of our life trying to find answers to such quantitative and qualitative questions. We are, then, in search of a kind of intelligence that includes numbers but is also above and beyond them. We call it 'supernumerary' intelligence (SI). To aid our quest for SI, we use Quantitative CyberQuest (QCQ) and the Public Administration Genome Project (PAGP) as useful tools. QCQ is a philosophy as well as an analytic tool that helps in exploring the supernumerary. QCQ is particularly wellsuited for sorting out variables as well as their interrelations. It involves a combination of statistics, systems analysis, research methodology, qualitative research, and artificial intelligence. QCQ also provides a relatively easy to understand but still powerful set of tools and guidance mechanisms to pilot (the 'Cyber' part) users in their 'Quest' for supernumerary relationships.

Book Synopsis Design Studies and Intelligence Engineering by : L.C. Jain
Download or read book Design Studies and Intelligence Engineering written by L.C. Jain and published by IOS Press. This book was released on 2024-02-27 with total page 1126 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The discipline of design studies applies various technologies, from basic theory to application systems, while intelligence engineering encompasses computer-aided industrial design, human-factor design, and greenhouse design, and plays a major part within design science. Intelligence engineering technologies also include topics from theory and application, such as computational technologies, sensing technologies, and video detection. This book presents the proceedings of DSIE2023, the 2023 International Symposium on Design Studies and Intelligence Engineering, held on 28 & 29 October 2023 in Hangzhou, China. The conference provides a platform for professionals and researchers from industry and academia to present and discuss recent advances in the fields of design studies and intelligence engineering. It also fosters cooperation among the organizations and researchers involved in these overlapping fields, and invites internationally renowned professors to further explore these topics in some depth, providing the opportunity for them to discuss the technical presentations with conference participants. In all, 275 submissions were received for the conference, 105 of which were accepted after thorough review by 3 or 4 referees for presentation at the conference and inclusion here. Providing a valuable overview of the latest developments, the book will be of interest to all those working in the fields of design studies and intelligence engineering.

Download or read book Plan Prediction written by Ray Wyatt and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-11-19 with total page 284 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book develops an innovative system, in the form of an "app", that harnesses the power of the internet to predict which sorts of people will prefer which policy in ANY planning situation. It chronicles the accumulated research wisdom behind the system’s reasoning, along with several less successful approaches to policy making that have been found wanting in the past – including the myth, usually peddled by strategic planners, that it is possible to find a "best" plan which optimally satisfies everybody. The book lays out an entirely new kind of Planning Support System (PSS). It will facilitate decision-making that is far more community-sensitive than previously, and it will drastically improve the performance of anyone who needs to plan within socially-sensitive contexts – which is all of us. A standout feature of the system is its commitment to “scientific rigour”, as shown by its predicted plan scores always being graphically presented within error margins so that true statistical significance is instantly observable. Moreover, the probabilities that its predictions are correct are always shown – a refreshing change from most, if not all other Decision Support Systems (DSS) that simply expect users to accept their outputs on faith alone.
