Book Synopsis Superconvergence in Galerkin Finite Element Methods by : Lars Wahlbin
Download or read book Superconvergence in Galerkin Finite Element Methods written by Lars Wahlbin and published by Springer. This book was released on 2006-11-14 with total page 179 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is essentially a set of lecture notes from a graduate seminar given at Cornell in Spring 1994. It treats basic mathematical theory for superconvergence in the context of second order elliptic problems. It is aimed at graduate students and researchers. The necessary technical tools are developed in the text although sometimes long proofs are merely referenced. The book gives a rather complete overview of the field of superconvergence (in time-independent problems). It is the first text with such a scope. It includes a very complete and up-to-date list of references.

Book Synopsis Modeling, Mesh Generation, and Adaptive Numerical Methods for Partial Differential Equations by : Ivo Babuska
Download or read book Modeling, Mesh Generation, and Adaptive Numerical Methods for Partial Differential Equations written by Ivo Babuska and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 1995-07-14 with total page 516 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With considerations such as complex-dimensional geometries and nonlinearity, the computational solution of partial differential systems has become so involved that it is important to automate decisions that have been normally left to the individual. This book covers such decisions: 1) mesh generation with links to the software generating the domain geometry, 2) solution accuracy and reliability with mesh selection linked to solution generation. This book is suited for mathematicians, computer scientists and engineers and is intended to encourage interdisciplinary interaction between the diverse groups.

Book Synopsis Combined Methods for Elliptic Equations with Singularities, Interfaces and Infinities by : Zi Cai Li
Download or read book Combined Methods for Elliptic Equations with Singularities, Interfaces and Infinities written by Zi Cai Li and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-12-01 with total page 488 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this book the author sets out to answer two important questions: 1. Which numerical methods may be combined together? 2. How can different numerical methods be matched together? In doing so the author presents a number of useful combinations, for instance, the combination of various FEMs, the combinations of FEM-FDM, REM-FEM, RGM-FDM, etc. The combined methods have many advantages over single methods: high accuracy of solutions, less CPU time, less computer storage, easy coupling with singularities as well as the complicated boundary conditions. Since coupling techniques are essential to combinations, various matching strategies among different methods are carefully discussed. The author provides the matching rules so that optimal convergence, even superconvergence, and optimal stability can be achieved, and also warns of the matching pitfalls to avoid. Audience: The book is intended for both mathematicians and engineers and may be used as text for advanced students.

Book Synopsis Numerical Solution of Integral Equations by : Michael A. Golberg
Download or read book Numerical Solution of Integral Equations written by Michael A. Golberg and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-11-11 with total page 428 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 1979, I edited Volume 18 in this series: Solution Methods for Integral Equations: Theory and Applications. Since that time, there has been an explosive growth in all aspects of the numerical solution of integral equations. By my estimate over 2000 papers on this subject have been published in the last decade, and more than 60 books on theory and applications have appeared. In particular, as can be seen in many of the chapters in this book, integral equation techniques are playing an increas ingly important role in the solution of many scientific and engineering problems. For instance, the boundary element method discussed by Atkinson in Chapter 1 is becoming an equal partner with finite element and finite difference techniques for solving many types of partial differential equations. Obviously, in one volume it would be impossible to present a complete picture of what has taken place in this area during the past ten years. Consequently, we have chosen a number of subjects in which significant advances have been made that we feel have not been covered in depth in other books. For instance, ten years ago the theory of the numerical solution of Cauchy singular equations was in its infancy. Today, as shown by Golberg and Elliott in Chapters 5 and 6, the theory of polynomial approximations is essentially complete, although many details of practical implementation remain to be worked out.

Book Synopsis Computational Plasticity in Powder Forming Processes by : Amir Khoei
Download or read book Computational Plasticity in Powder Forming Processes written by Amir Khoei and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2010-07-07 with total page 483 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The powder forming process is an extremely effective method of manufacturing structural metal components with high-dimensional accuracy on a mass production basis. The process is applicable to nearly all industry sectors. It offers competitive engineering solutions in terms of technical performance and manufacturing costs. For these reasons, powder metallurgy is developing faster than other metal forming technology. Computational Plasticity in Powder Forming Proceses takes a specific look at the application of computer-aided engineering in modern powder forming technologies, with particular attention given to the Finite Element Method (FEM). FEM analysis provides detailed information on conditions within the processed material, which is often more complete than can be obtained even from elaborate physical experiments, and the numerical simulation makes it possible to examine a range of designs, or operating conditions economically.* Describes the mechanical behavior of powder materials using classical and modern constitutive theories.* Devoted to the application of adaptive FEM strategy in the analysis of powder forming processes.* 2D and 3D numerical modeling of powder forming processes are presented, using advanced plasticity models.
