Book Synopsis Second-order Slender-body Theory by : Milton Van Dyke
Download or read book Second-order Slender-body Theory written by Milton Van Dyke and published by . This book was released on 1959 with total page 36 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Slender-body theory for subsonic and supersonic flow past bodies of revolution is extended to a second approximation. Methods are developed for handling the difficulties that arise at round ends. Comparison is made with experiment and with other theories for several simple shapes.

Book Synopsis Corrosion of Metals of Construction by Alternate Exposure to Liquid and Gaseous Fluorine by : Richard M. Gundzik
Download or read book Corrosion of Metals of Construction by Alternate Exposure to Liquid and Gaseous Fluorine written by Richard M. Gundzik and published by . This book was released on 1954 with total page 678 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The corrosion of 3S-0 and 52S-0 aluminum, AISI 347, and 321 stainless steels, "A" nickel, and low-leaded brass has been determined from the weight change of specimens exposed alternately to liquid and gaseous fluorine. Experiments were continued for a total exposure time up to 3 1/2 months. It was found that corrosion is negligible under the conditions of the experiments. No visual differences were observed between those surfaces exposed to the gaseous phase only and those exposed to both the liquid and the gaseous phases.

Book Synopsis Fluid Dynamics Transactions by : W. Fiszdon
Download or read book Fluid Dynamics Transactions written by W. Fiszdon and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 655 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fluid Dynamics Transactions, Volume 2 compiles 46 papers on fluid dynamics, a subdiscipline of fluid mechanics that deals with fluid flow. The topics discussed in this book include developments in interference theory for aeronautical applications; diffusion from sources in a turbulent boundary layer; unsteady motion of a finite wing span in a compressible medium; and wall pressure covariance and comparison with experiment. The certain classes of non-stationary axially symmetric flows in magneto–gas–dynamics; description of the phenomenon of secondary flows in curved channels by means of convection of rotation lines; and some variational problems of gas dynamics are also deliberated in this text. This publication is a good reference for physicists and students researching on the natural science of fluids in motion.

Book Synopsis Transonic Aerodynamics by : L. Pamela Cook
Download or read book Transonic Aerodynamics written by L. Pamela Cook and published by SIAM. This book was released on 1993-01-01 with total page 100 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume offers exciting results, perspectives, and case studies for the treatment of problems arising in transonic aerodynamics. New advances including triple deck theory, analysis of stagnation at the nose of a body, transonic choked flow, and the transonic area rule are presented. Interest in analyzing the transonic range of flight, its stability properties, and especially the question of designing reduced drag (shockless or weak shock) airfoils keeps growing. Present day commercial aircraft cruise in the transonic range. Mechanical and aeronautical engineers interested in compressible fluid flows, design of optimal wings, and an understanding of transonic flow held about wings and airfoils will find the book invaluable. This book is understandable to those with a knowledge of continuum mechanics (fluids) and asymptotic methods. It is appropriate for graduate courses in aerodynamics and mathematical methods.

Book Synopsis The Theory of Diffusion in Strained Systems by : Louis A. Girifalco
Download or read book The Theory of Diffusion in Strained Systems written by Louis A. Girifalco and published by . This book was released on 1959 with total page 1082 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A general theory of solid-state diffusion in strained systems is developed on a molecular-kinetic basis. The theory predicts that for simple strains the diffusion coefficient is an exponential function of the lattice parameter and that the rate of change of the diffusion coefficient with strain is linearly related to the interatomic forces. It has also been shown that for plastic flow the diffusion coefficient is a linear function of strain rate. All the conclusions are confirmed by the data available in the literature.
