You can hold in your hands “Conversational Dutch Quick and Easy - Books I, II and III" which contains one of the most advanced and revolutionary methods that was ever designed for quickly becoming conversational in a language. In creating this time-saving program, master linguist Yatir Nitzany spent years examining the twenty-seven most common languages in the world and distilling from them the most common words that are most likely to be used in real conversations. These words were chosen in such a way that they were structurally interrelated and, when combined, form sentences. Through various other discoveries about how real conversations work--discoveries that are detailed further in this book--Nitzany created the necessary tools for linking these words together in a specific way so that you may become rapidly and almost effortlessly conversant--now. If you want to learn complicated grammar rules, or to speak perfectly proper and precise Dutch, this book is not for you. However, if you need to actually hold a conversation while on a trip to a Dutch-speaking country, to impress that certain someone, or to be able to speak with your grandfather or grandmother as soon as possible, then the Nitzany Method is what you have been looking for. This method is designed for fluency in a foreign language, while communicating in the present tense. Nitzany believes that what's most important is actually being able to understand and be understood by another human being right away. This is one of the several, in a series of instructional language guides, the Nitzany Method's revolutionary approach is the only one in the world that uses its unique language technology to actually enable you to speak and understand native speakers in the shortest amount of time possible. No more depending on volumes of books of fundamental, beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels, all with hundreds of pages in order to learn a language. With "Conversational Dutch Quick and Easy – Series - Books I, II and III", is all you will need. Pick up your copy today and learn a new language quickly and easily.

However, it probably represents the most common type of contact in the world, where colonization, rapid socioeconomic and demographic change, and society-wide multilingualism have led to dramatic linguistic change. This book presents fascinating cases of multidirectional contact and convergence between highly diverse languages in an emerging linguistic area in Suriname and the Guianas and proposes a framework for comparable studies.

Book excerpt: After years of journalistic research and meticulous preparation, Edwin Ammerlaan has combined many facts, quotes and events from 50 years of Pink Floyd with a fictional, yet compelling coming-of-age story. By doing so, he gives the reader an intimate and unique perspective on one of the most successful bands in music history. In Lost Souls protagonist Matt accidentally bumps into Pink Floyd on a ferry from Ibiza to Formentera. What follows is a lifelong fascination for all things Floyd and, eventually, acceptance into the band's inner circle. Travelling the globe, Matt meets a lot of interesting people, including Syd Barrett, Roger Waters, David Gilmour, Richard Wright, Nick Mason, Steve O'Rourke, Ginger Gilmour, Snowy White, Polly Samson, Tim Renwick, sir Bob Geldof and many others. Matt joins Pink Floyd on tour, in the studio and even on the golf course, building a fragile bond of trust and friendship with the band along the way. Following him on his musical journey, we revisit some relevant moments in Pink Floyd history: Formentera (1967), The Paradiso, Amsterdam (1968), Charlton Park, Bishopsbourne (1970), Abbey Road Studios (1971), USA & Canada tour (1973), Wembley Empire Pool (1977), Super Bear Studios (June 1979), Wembley Stadium (1988), Potsdamer Platz, Berlin (1990), The Astoria (1994), Live 8 (2005), O2 Arena (2011), Berkeley Hotel (2017) and the Victoria & Albert Museum (2017).

Book excerpt: Now in paper for the first time, Bitter Music is a generous volume of writings by one of the twentieth century's great musical iconoclasts. Rejecting the equal temperament and concert traditions that have dominated western music, Harry Partch adopted the pure intervals of just intonation and devised a 43-tone-to-the-octave scale, which in turn forced him into inventing numerous musical instruments. His compositions realize his ideal of a corporeal music that unites music, dance, and theater. Winner of the ASCAP-Deems Taylor Award, Bitter Music includes two journals kept by Partch, one while wandering the West Coast during the Depression and the other while hiking the rugged northern California coastline. It also includes essays and discussions by Partch of his own compositions, as well as librettos and scenarios for six major narrative/dramatic compositions.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Many languages have constructions in which verbs cluster. But few languages have verb clusters as rich and complex as Continental West Germanic and Hungarian. Furthermore the precise ordering properties and the variation in the cluster patterns are remarkably similar in Hungarian and Germanic. This similarity is, of course, unexpected since Hungarian is not an Indo-European language like the Germanic language group. Instead it appears that the clustering, inversion and roll-up patterns found may constitute an areal feature. This book presents the relevant language data in considerable detail, taking into account also the variation observed, for example, among dialects. But it also discusses the various analytical approaches that can be brought to bear on this set of phenomena. In particular, there are various hypotheses as to what is the underlying driving force behind cluster formation: stress patterns, aspectual features, morpho- syntactic constraints? And the analytical approaches are closely linked to a number of questions that are at the core of current syntactic theorizing: does head movement exist or should all apparent verb displacement be reduced to remnant movement, are morphology and syntax really just different sides of the same coin?
