Book Synopsis The Process of Sme Growth by : Marta Gancarczyk
Download or read book The Process of Sme Growth written by Marta Gancarczyk and published by Jagiellonian University Press. This book was released on 2018-04-08 with total page 206 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book contributes to the emerging research on the growth process of firms, with a focus on the expansion of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). A comprehensive approach to the issue of small firm growth draws upon empirical findings of the characteristics and economic importance of high-growth enterprises and the extant base of theoretical approaches to the growth of firms, with an emphasis on the literature of firm boundaries (scope and size). Consequently, this research adopts a deductive approach to building the conceptual framework of SME growth by integrating the resource-based view of the firm and transaction cost theory. This integrative theoretical framework was tested by using the multi-case study method to conclude with a proposal of the model of the growth process of SMEs. The model explains the choices of high-growth entrepreneurs regarding contractual arrangements, portfolio development, sources of new products, and associated governance in the expansion process. Consistent with the heterogeneity of SME expansion, the research reveals three equifinal patterns of these choices instead of only one path. This book is valuable for bridging separate and divergent streams of the literature on firms' growth, namely, entrepreneurship, microeconomics, and strategic management literature related to firm boundary decisions.

Book Synopsis The Economics and Political Economy of Transportation Security by : Kenneth Button
Download or read book The Economics and Political Economy of Transportation Security written by Kenneth Button and published by Edward Elgar Publishing. This book was released on 2016-04-29 with total page 189 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this clear and observant book, Kenneth Button provides an overview of the economics and political economy of transport security, considering its policy from an economic perspective. His analysis applies micro-economic theory to transport issues, supporting and enhancing the larger framework of our knowledge about personal, industrial, and national security. Button’s focus on the economic aspects of transportation security strives to move beyond established technical and legal approaches, working within both the narrower microeconomics of individual and corporate efficiency and the larger trends in economic policy-making. By fitting current security trends into economic analysis, he discusses not only contemporary developments, but also their economic implications and approaches for assessing alternative strategies. This examination of applied economics is a must-read for those looking to gain a broader view of transport security issues. It is a critical resource for those in the security industries as well as those involved in education about transport, security matters, and applied microeconomics.

Book Synopsis Firm Competitive Advantage Through Relationship Management by : Bartosz Deszczyński
Download or read book Firm Competitive Advantage Through Relationship Management written by Bartosz Deszczyński and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-03-25 with total page 294 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Relationship management (RM) is an essential part of business, but its success as a business model can be hard to measure, with some firms embracing a model that is truly relationship-orientated, while others claim to be relationship-orientated but in fact prefer transactional short-term gain. This open access book aims to develop a mid-range theory of relationship management, examining truly relationship-orientated firms to discover not only what qualities these firms have that make them successful at the RM model, but also what benefits this model has for the firm. It addresses questions like how RM-mature companies achieve and sustain competitive advantage, and what determines the scale and scope of these firms, illustrating with case studies. This book will be of interest to scholars studying leadership and strategy, especially those interested in relationship management, business ethics and corporate social responsibility. It will also be of interest to professionals looking to develop their understanding of relationship management.

Book Synopsis The Coming Of Post-Industrial Society by : Daniel Bell
Download or read book The Coming Of Post-Industrial Society written by Daniel Bell and published by Basic Books. This book was released on 1976-07-21 with total page 616 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 1976, Daniel Bell's historical work predicted a vastly different society developing—one that will rely on the “economics of information” rather than the “economics of goods.” Bell argued that the new society would not displace the older one but rather overlie some of the previous layers just as the industrial society did not completely eradicate the agrarian sectors of our society. The post-industrial society's dimensions would include the spread of a knowledge class, the change from goods to services and the role of women. All of these would be dependent on the expansion of services in the economic sector and an increasing dependence on science as the means of innovating and organizing technological change.Bell prophetically stated in The Coming of the Post-Industrial Society that we should expect “… new premises and new powers, new constraints and new questions—with the difference that these are now on a scale that had never been previously imagined in world history.”
