Download or read book Strong Limit Theorems in Noncommutative L2-Spaces written by Ryszard Jajte and published by Springer. This book was released on 2006-12-08 with total page 122 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The noncommutative versions of fundamental classical results on the almost sure convergence in L2-spaces are discussed: individual ergodic theorems, strong laws of large numbers, theorems on convergence of orthogonal series, of martingales of powers of contractions etc. The proofs introduce new techniques in von Neumann algebras. The reader is assumed to master the fundamentals of functional analysis and probability. The book is written mainly for mathematicians and physicists familiar with probability theory and interested in applications of operator algebras to quantum statistical mechanics.

Book Synopsis Noncommutative Probability by : I. Cuculescu
Download or read book Noncommutative Probability written by I. Cuculescu and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-06-29 with total page 367 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The intention of this book is to explain to a mathematician having no previous knowledge in this domain, what "noncommutative probability" is. So the first decision was not to concentrate on a special topic. For different people, the starting points of such a domain may be different. In what concerns this question, different variants are not discussed. One such variant comes from Quantum Physics. The motivations in this book are mainly mathematical; more precisely, they correspond to the desire of developing a probability theory in a new set-up and obtaining results analogous to the classical ones for the newly defined mathematical objects. Also different mathematical foundations of this domain were proposed. This book concentrates on one variant, which may be described as "von Neumann algebras". This is true also for the last chapter, if one looks at its ultimate aim. In the references there are some papers corresponding to other variants; we mention Gudder, S.P. &al (1978). Segal, I.E. (1965) also discusses "basic ideas".
Book Synopsis Operator Valued Hardy Spaces by : Tao Mei
Download or read book Operator Valued Hardy Spaces written by Tao Mei and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2007 with total page 78 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The author gives a systematic study of the Hardy spaces of functions with values in the noncommutative $Lp$-spaces associated with a semifinite von Neumann algebra $\mathcal{M .$ This is motivated by matrix valued Harmonic Analysis (operator weighted norm inequalities, operator Hilbert transform), as well as by the recent development of noncommutative martingale inequalities. in this paper noncommutative Hardy spaces are defined by noncommutative Lusin integral function, and it isproved that they are equivalent to those defined by noncommutative Littlewood-Paley G-functions. The main results of this paper include: (i) The analogue in the author's setting of the classical Fefferman duality theorem between $\mathcal{H 1$ and $\mathrm{BMO $. (ii) The atomic decomposition of theauthor's noncommutative $\mathcal{H 1.$ (iii) The equivalence between the norms of the noncommutative Hardy spaces and of the noncommutative $Lp$-spaces $(1

Book Synopsis Real Functions - Current Topics by : Vasile Ene
Download or read book Real Functions - Current Topics written by Vasile Ene and published by Springer. This book was released on 2006-11-14 with total page 321 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Most books devoted to the theory of the integral have ignored the nonabsolute integrals, despite the fact that the journal literature relating to these has become richer and richer. The aim of this monograph is to fill this gap, to perform a study on the large number of classes of real functions which have been introduced in this context, and to illustrate them with many examples. This book reports on some recent advances in the theory of real functions and can serve as a textbook for a course in the subject, and to stimulate further research in this exciting field.

Book Synopsis The Development of the Number Field Sieve by : Arjen K. Lenstra
Download or read book The Development of the Number Field Sieve written by Arjen K. Lenstra and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 1993-08-30 with total page 152 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The number field sieve is an algorithm for finding the prime factors of large integers. It depends on algebraic number theory. Proposed by John Pollard in 1988, the method was used in 1990 to factor the ninth Fermat number, a 155-digit integer. The algorithm is most suited to numbers of a special form, but there is a promising variant that applies in general. This volume contains six research papers that describe the operation of the number field sieve, from both theoretical and practical perspectives. Pollard's original manuscript is included. In addition, there is an annotated bibliography of directly related literature.
Book Synopsis Potential Theory on Infinite Networks by : Paolo M. Soardi
Download or read book Potential Theory on Infinite Networks written by Paolo M. Soardi and published by Springer. This book was released on 2006-11-15 with total page 199 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The aim of the book is to give a unified approach to new developments in discrete potential theory and infinite network theory. The author confines himself to the finite energy case, but this does not result in loss of complexity. On the contrary, the functional analytic machinery may be used in analogy with potential theory on Riemann manifolds. The book is intended for researchers with interdisciplinary interests in one of the following fields: Markov chains, combinatorial graph theory, network theory, Dirichlet spaces, potential theory, abstract harmonic analysis, theory of boundaries.
Book Synopsis Real and Etale Cohomology by : Claus Scheiderer
Download or read book Real and Etale Cohomology written by Claus Scheiderer and published by Springer. This book was released on 2006-11-15 with total page 300 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book makes a systematic study of the relations between the étale cohomology of a scheme and the orderings of its residue fields. A major result is that in high degrees, étale cohomology is cohomology of the real spectrum. It also contains new contributions in group cohomology and in topos theory. It is of interest to graduate students and researchers who work in algebraic geometry (not only real) and have some familiarity with the basics of étale cohomology and Grothendieck sites. Independently, it is of interest to people working in the cohomology theory of groups or in topos theory.
Book Synopsis On Artin's Conjecture for Odd 2-dimensional Representations by : Gerhard Frey
Download or read book On Artin's Conjecture for Odd 2-dimensional Representations written by Gerhard Frey and published by Springer. This book was released on 2006-11-15 with total page 160 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The main topic of the volume is to develop efficient algorithms by which one can verify Artin's conjecture for odd two-dimensional representations in a fairly wide range. To do this, one has to determine the number of all representations with given Artin conductor and determinant and to compute the dimension of a corresponding space of cusp forms of weight 1 which is done by exploiting the explicit knowledge of the operation of Hecke operators on modular symbols. It is hoped that the algorithms developed in the volume can be of use for many other problems related to modular forms.
Book Synopsis Phase Transitions and Hysteresis by : Augusto Visintin
Download or read book Phase Transitions and Hysteresis written by Augusto Visintin and published by Springer. This book was released on 2006-11-15 with total page 301 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 1) Phase Transitions, represented by generalizations of the classical Stefan problem. This is studied by Kenmochi and Rodrigues by means of variational techniques. 2) Hysteresis Phenomena. Some alloys exhibit shape memory effects, corresponding to a stress-strain relation which strongly depends on temperature; mathematical physical aspects are treated in Müller's paper. In a general framework, hysteresis can be described by means of hysteresis operators in Banach spaces of time dependent functions; their properties are studied by Brokate. 3) Numerical analysis. Several models of the phenomena above can be formulated in terms of nonlinear parabolic equations. Here Verdi deals with the most updated approximation techniques.
Book Synopsis Classical Diophantine Equations by : Vladimir G. Sprindzuk
Download or read book Classical Diophantine Equations written by Vladimir G. Sprindzuk and published by Springer. This book was released on 2006-11-15 with total page 244 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The author had initiated a revision and translation of "Classical Diophantine Equations" prior to his death. Given the rapid advances in transcendence theory and diophantine approximation over recent years, one might fear that the present work, originally published in Russian in 1982, is mostly superseded. That is not so. A certain amount of updating had been prepared by the author himself before his untimely death. Some further revision was prepared by close colleagues. The first seven chapters provide a detailed, virtually exhaustive, discussion of the theory of lower bounds for linear forms in the logarithms of algebraic numbers and its applications to obtaining upper bounds for solutions to the eponymous classical diophantine equations. The detail may seem stark--- the author fears that the reader may react much as does the tourist on first seeing the centre Pompidou; notwithstanding that, Sprind zuk maintainsa pleasant and chatty approach, full of wise and interesting remarks. His emphases well warrant, now that the book appears in English, close studyand emulation. In particular those emphases allow him to devote the eighth chapter to an analysis of the interrelationship of the class number of algebraic number fields involved and the bounds on the heights of thesolutions of the diophantine equations. Those ideas warrant further development. The final chapter deals with effective aspects of the Hilbert Irreducibility Theorem, harkening back to earlier work of the author. There is no other congenial entry point to the ideas of the last two chapters in the literature.
