Book excerpt: I have conversations with people about how they pray the Jesus Prayer as they walk the city streets, as they travel on buses or on the Tube, as they cycle, or as they sit at home. From these experiences I have come more and more to see the Jesus Prayer as a way of praying well suited to urban life; a form of attentiveness practice that can help us to grow in God-experience amid the changes and chances of metropolitan living. This book explains the prayer, its ethos, and how to begin to practise it in daily life.
Book Synopsis Sowing Precious Seed by : Helen M. Berry
Download or read book Sowing Precious Seed written by Helen M. Berry and published by Xulon Press. This book was released on 2009-12 with total page 182 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Acts 9:17 reads, "Brother Saul, Jesus hath sent me, that thou mightest receive thy sight." Saul had his need met by a man that was directed by God; some say that was a chance encounter. Sowing Precious Seed offers an insight into the passion of Helen Berry. Helen has been moved to carry the gospel wherever life took her. Being a nurse she mingled with people in need. As a good sower, she "scattered the seed," and as an eager harvester she sought to "gather in," being always alert to her Master's cause. This book demonstrates the power inherent in the blending of a devout soul in tune with the Lord, together with a heart of love for the unsaved. It documents those impacted by their encounter with Helen, and it shows that God still directs those who have a heart burning for Him. There are unusual circumstances and amazing encounters, which could be deemed to be "chance meetings," but which are clearly seen to be the hand of God, still directing secretly but certainly. Let those who read this book take care; it will bring not just admiration with what God can do through a devoted life, but will change your attitude to prayer and witnessing. It exhibits a life consciously dedicated to our Lord, a life we all ought to be living. Pastor James McAlees, Grace Bible Church, Las Vegas, Nevada Helen has always been involved in the area of church planting. Presently, she is helping start a church in Las Vegas, Nevada. She is an accomplished pianist; faithfully using the talent God has given her for His glory. She currently is a Gospel for Asia volunteer and enjoys working with children in Good News Clubs with Child Evangelism. Helen has two grown sons, Rusty and David.

Book excerpt: Jesus’ disciples watched Him regularly go away by Himself to pray to His Father. This made such an impression on them that they asked Jesus to teach them to pray. We now know this prayer as “The Lord’s Prayer” or “The Our Father.” A more accurate description would be “The Disciple’s’ Prayer.” Was Jesus just giving His disciples a specific prayer to recite - a string of unchanging words in an unchanging sequence - or was He giving us a “way” to talk to His Father. Explore how and what Jesus taught His disciples about talking to His Father – and ours.

Book Synopsis Seed Prayer: Sowing Kingdom Seeds in Your Life That Will Manifest Productive Fruit by : Robert Cathers
Download or read book Seed Prayer: Sowing Kingdom Seeds in Your Life That Will Manifest Productive Fruit written by Robert Cathers and published by Outskirts Press. This book was released on 2021-10-29 with total page 58 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Then Jesus said to them, "Don't you understand this parable? How then will you understand any parable." (Mark 4:13) Jesus gives us the key to understanding how the kingdom works through the parable of the Sower in Mark, Chapter 4. He said, "Understand this parable and you will understand all parables". Throughout this parable, the seed is the one constant, as it is the ground that changes. Jesus did not say that some of us have good ground and some of us have bad ground. He teaches us that we can transform our ground. Understanding this parable is the first step, however the key is learning how to traverse the different grounds in order to reach the good ground. Seed Prayer, prayer that combines speaking scripture (sowing seeds) and praying in the Holy Spirit (watering the seeds sown), applies the power of this parable to transform the ground we are sowing into, so that our seed can bear fruit. Seed prayer was developed over a period of years at our church in Northridge. Several members of our congregation gathered with me every morning and we all prayed for several hours together. This Seed Prayer revelation came out of those times of prayer. Understanding the revelation of the parable of the sower and applying its power, which is Seed Prayer, is the key to receiving other revelations of God and manifesting them in your lives. I urge you follow this principle of prayer daily, and as you do, your ground will be cultivated over time and transformed into good ground where your seed sown will produce fruit. I promise it will change your lives for the better, as it changed ours.
Book Synopsis Of Seeds and the People of God by : Michael P. Knowles
Download or read book Of Seeds and the People of God written by Michael P. Knowles and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2015-02-06 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Preachers mount the pulpit steps terribly burdened by the conviction that they are somehow responsible for the growth and spiritual well-being of their congregants. How, they ask themselves, can mere words communicate the reality of God, bring life to a congregation, or foster spiritual growth? This study argues that effective sermons function much like Jesus' parables--by bearing witness to divine power. Parables and preaching both testify to something beyond themselves: to a life-giving dynamic that far outstrips the force of words alone. Preachers are not go-betweens or gatekeepers for the kingdom of heaven: rather, they imitate Jesus by dying to themselves in the very act of proclamation, relying directly on God for their sermons to bear fruit. As well as offering a novel interpretation of Jesus' agricultural parables, Of Seeds and the People of God presents a Christ-shaped theology of preaching. Beyond exegesis or rhetoric alone, faithful proclamation is a question of spirituality, of preachers and listeners together yielding to God's gift of new life.

Society advocates sports as a means to instill virtue and character in our youth. But we all know that the system is broken to a large extent - from youth sports through college, and beyond. Too many coaches and parents are driven by the scoreboard, the win-at-all costs model. Is it any wonder that 70% of kids drop out of sports by age 12? Many of us remember the words and actions of coaches for a lifetime. What memories are you leaving with your athletes? Chris helps us make sense of why sports are broken and how they can be restored as a tool to positively impact lives. It all centers on coaches being transformed by biblical truths and implementing practical tools so they can field competitive teams while also loving their athletes well. Join the journey and learn to coach with joy." -Gilbert Tuhabonye: Author of This Voice in My Heart; 8-time NCAA All-American; Distance Running Coach

Book Synopsis Receive Your Miracle Now by : Bob Sawvelle
Download or read book Receive Your Miracle Now written by Bob Sawvelle and published by Whitaker House. This book was released on 2017-04-11 with total page 240 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "I encourage anyone who wants to have a better grounding in the biblical, historical, and theological basis for believing in the continuation of the gifts-especially gift of healing-to make this a part of his or her library. This book is not milk; it is meat." —Randy Clark Jesus brought people into direct contact with the power and authority of God. Every healing and miracle revealed the glory of God and the reality of His kingdom. Jesus gave the disciples authority to proclaim the gospel of the kingdom, to heal the sick, and to deliver the oppressed. Receive Your Miracle Now presents a strong argument for the legitimacy of a Christian healing ministry in today's church. By studying key passages of Scripture in both the Old and New Testaments, examining the thread of healing throughout church history, and presenting a theological basis for healing and deliverance ministry, Bob Sawvelle demonstrates that through the healing gifts Jesus is still glorified, the sick are still healed, the oppressed are still freed, and God's kingdom advances in the earth, as it ever has.
