Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Many Christians have become "tired" in their faith. This is evident in the way they have become disinterested in the things of God and godliness. Some people have abandoned their services in the kingdom, some live evil and immoral lives while some have even gone to the extent of seeking ungodly means to proffer solutions to the hard situations in their lives. Steadfastness in Stewardship is a book written to encourage Christians to remain fervent in their service to the Lord. Relying on the message God sent through apostle Paul to the Christians in Galatia and by extension to Christians of this age, which says "And let us not be weary in well doing, for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not", the author exposed the reasons why Christians can become tired and also the remedies that have been provided in the Living word of God (Galatians 6:9). The Triune God led the author to conclude that what was needed by all Christians as antidote to "tiredness" is "Steadfastness in their Stewardship". After reading the book carefully and meditatively, one will be convinced of the need to be steadfast in stewardship knowing that our "labour is not in vain in the Lord" (1 Corinthians 15:58).

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When anyone acts in accordance with the devil, they become of a “devilish quality,” (John 6:70). When Christians are enticed by the devil, they are pulled away from God by honors, profits, pleasures, or whatever other things the devil uses to hinder their profiting by the Word, (Luke 8:12). These wicked spirits have such a heinous effect on the world, that the same condemnation that will befall them, will befall those who follow them. The proud fall into the condemnation of the devil, that is, by means of pride and high mindedness they too will be cast into hell fire, in the same manner as the devil will be. In consideration of such vile and wicked practices following the devil and his practices, Gifford directs the reader to resist such assaults and submit before God with the weapon of steadfast faith. His text is a famous one, “Be sober and watch: for your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: whom resist steadfast in the faith,” (1 Peter 5:8-9). Gifford expounds on how the Apostle Peter, 1) begins with an admonition or exhortation by which he stirs up all the faithful to sobriety and watchfulness with these words, “Be sober and watch,” 2) why it is important to move all men into this position of sobriety and watchfulness, seeing they have such a terrible and cruel adversary who continually seeks their eternal misery and destruction, “For your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.” And, 3) teaching how Christians shall withstand him, overcome him, and put him to flight, that so they may escape from his cruel tyranny, “Whom resist steadfast in the faith.” This is an exceedingly helpful work, that will arm the Christian in due manner to fight steadfastly in the power of Jesus Christ through his Spirit against the works and wiles of the devil. And Gifford will not only show how to do this, but how to do it effectively, with victory, through true Christian faith empowered by God’s Christ.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The emergence of the World Order of Baha'u'llah and its implications for the progress of civilization coincides with accelerated crises in the world. These calamities, with their associated suffering and confusion, herald the advent of a transformation in the consciousness of people and their receptivity - whether positive or negative - to the teachings of the Baha'i Faith No wonder, then, that Baha'is have been encouraged to study the Covenant and to acquire steadfastness in it. But what are the requirements of faithfulness to the Covenant? The Baha'i Writings tell us that persecution and trials will occur and intensify as the Cause emerges from obscurity to full recognition. A prime example of firmness in the Covenant amidst the fire of ordeals during our time is the Baha'i community of Iran, to which part of this book is dedicated. The book also discusses what the Covenant means to the present generation of young Baha'is, and what are the challenges in one's individual and community life in relation to the Covenant of Baha'u'llah. Two chapters discuss issues related to scholarship and the Covenant. What is the meaning of scholarship in the Baha'i Dispensation? What do the Baha'i Writings say not only about acquiring knowledge but also about the individual virtues and character which would distinguish Baha'i academics and scholars in a world submerged in a competitive drive for entitlement and superiority? What is the role of these souls in the defence of the Cause and extending our knowledge toward a deeper understanding and application of the Baha'i teachings in response to questions arising from current issues of society? The concluding part of the book turns to the life of 'Abdu'l-Baha as the Perfect Exemplar and the Centre of the Covenant of the Baha'i Faith."

The Bible encourages believers to persevere in their faith, to hang on to the rope, so to speak, to remain steadfast in their Christian walk. Have you ever asked yourself these questions: How will I persevere in my Christian faith? How will I remain steadfast and continue in my devotion to Christ and to His calling on my life? This is the important concept we will focus on in this book, persevering in the Christian walk. The Bible says that we should consider it pure joy when we face trials and difficulties of many kinds. Scripture also teaches that when our faith is tested, it produces perseverance.

There are times when worship overflows easily and effortlessly from a heart full of gratitude and praise. Yet, there are other times when God seems far and we feel we have nothing left to offer. We are tired, or thirsty, or imprisoned in our own chains through our own devices, or caught in the waves of a tumultuous sea. This is when God shows us His steadfast love. He wraps His eternally powerful, ultimately creative, nail-scarred hands around our hearts and squeezes with appropriate might—yielding an honest plea for Him to save us and deliver us from our circumstances, fears, and self control. And He does. He initiates with His steadfast love, and responds with the same. Walk with Lauren as she shares what she has learned of the steadfast love of the Lord.

In this collection of sermons, Puritan divine, John Owen, masterfully applies his vast biblical and theological knowledge to his definition of saving faith and offers us the details for what it means for "the righteous to live by his faith" (Hab. 2:4). Every believer will find this thorough treatment of the subject of faith to be encouraging and extremely edifying. Speaking of John Owen, Charles H. Spurgeon remarked, "It is unnecessary to say that he is the prince of divines. To master his works is to be a profound theologian." With sensitive pastoral care, acute theological precision, and tremendous theological depth, Owen guides us into a rich understanding of what it means to have faith and live by faith.

Book excerpt: Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. (Psalm 51:10)These beautifully simplistic, yet profound words of repentance from King David are the inspiration from which this book was written. The author, Patrick Dillon, feels this heartfelt cry is urgently needed in today's society, "Serious events are taking place in the world and in our own personal lives - it's time to renew our faith and become steadfast in our convictions. "This is a mixture of Holy Scripture, personal perspective, and family stories dating back four generations from the tail end of the Gold Rush, the Great Depression, up to current events. Topics such as Evolution, abortion, voting, peer pressure, baseball, Israel, and the present "great recession" are passionately discussed. The author's friendly candid style evokes an array of emotions. He challenges himself and his readers to truly commit to God, a God who deeply loves us and desires our very best. It is Patrick's sincere aspiration that those who read this will have a renewed sense of true hope that only God can give.
