Book Synopsis Handbook of Liquid Metals by : Jing Liu
Download or read book Handbook of Liquid Metals written by Jing Liu and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2025-04-17 with total page 1353 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This handbook systematically collects the latest scientific and technological knowledge on liquid metals obtained so far in this cutting edge frontier. Conventional materials such as metals, polymers, composites, ceramics and naturally derived matters, may not perform well when facing certain technological challenges. At around room temperature, most of such materials mainly stay at solid state and are often difficult to shape due to their high melting point. Meanwhile, although classical soft matters own good flexibility, their electrical conductivities including more behaviours appear not good enough which generally limited their utilizations. As a game-changing alternative, the room temperature liquid metal materials are quickly emerging as a new generation functional material which displayed many unconventional properties superior to traditional materials. Their outstanding versatile feature as “One material, diverse capabilities” is rather unique among existing materials and thus opens many exciting opportunities for scientific, technological and industrial developments. This handbook presents comprehensive reference information on liquid metal science and technology that are currently available. The major advancements as made before are collected and summarized. Representative liquid metal applications are illustrated. It helps readers obtain a comprehensive understanding of the technical progresses and fundamental discoveries in the frontier, and thus better explore and utilize liquid metal materials to address various challenging needs.
Book Synopsis Theory of Simple Liquids by : Jean-Pierre Hansen
Download or read book Theory of Simple Liquids written by Jean-Pierre Hansen and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2006-02-08 with total page 430 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The third edition of Theory of Simple Liquids is an updated, advanced, but self-contained introduction to the principles of liquid-state theory. It presents the modern, molecular theory of the structural, thermodynamic interfacial and dynamical properties of the liquid phase of materials constituted of atoms, small molecules or ions. This book leans on concepts and methods form classical Statistical Mechanics in which theoretical predictions are systematically compared with experimental data and results from numerical simulations. The overall layout of the book is similar to that of the previous two editions however, there are considerable changes in emphasis and several key additions including:•up-to-date presentation of modern theories of liquid-vapour coexistence and criticality•areas of considerable present and future interest such as super-cooled liquids and the glass transition•the area of liquid metals, which has grown into a mature subject area, now presented as part of the chapter ionic liquids•Provides cutting-edge research in the principles of liquid-state theory•Includes frequent comparisons of theoretical predictions with experimental and simulation data•Suitable for researchers and post-graduates in the field of condensed matter science (Physics, Chemistry, Material Science), biophysics as well as those in the oil industry

Book Synopsis Condensed Matter by : Dr. S. K. Srivastave
Download or read book Condensed Matter written by Dr. S. K. Srivastave and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1995 with total page 478 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book deals with different aspects of the structure and properties of disordered materials. Whenever the normal state of matter is affected by internal or external agencies and new states are developed, it is generally observed that the new materials possess disordered structures. However, some characteristics (such as the electronic and ionic) remain similar to those of crystalline solids. Such isotropic materials are also termed disordered solids. This book surveys the physics of materials like non transition-transition metals and alloys in their solid and liquid phases, liquid-amorphous solids and materials with super structures like fullerene lattices etc. The advancements in these materials which possess unusual physical properties provide exciting possibilities for technology and industry. Up-to-date investigations about theoretical and experimental techniques are presented here. The reviews on different materials were prepared by renowned experts in the corresponding areas.

Book Synopsis Anthropology by : Stanley R. Barrett
Download or read book Anthropology written by Stanley R. Barrett and published by . This book was released on 1996 with total page 764 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The second phase centred around the 1960s, as new theories sprang up and methods were refined in order to cope with doubts that a scientific study of culture had been established, and with the recognition that change and conflict were as prevalent as stability and harmony. The third phase began in the 1970s and continues today, dominated by postmodernism and feminist anthropology. One of my central arguments will be that beginning in phase two, and growing rapidly during phase three, a gap has emerged between our theories and our methods. For most of the history of anthropology, our methods have talked the language of science.

Book Synopsis Local Density Approximations in Quantum Chemistry and Solid State Physics by : Jens Peder Dahl
Download or read book Local Density Approximations in Quantum Chemistry and Solid State Physics written by Jens Peder Dahl and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-11-11 with total page 848 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The· simplest picture of an atom, a molecule or a solid is the picture of its distribution of charge. It is obtained by specifying the positions of the atomic nuclei and by showing how the density, p(E), of the electronic charge-cloud varies from place to place. A much more detailed picture is provided by the many-electron wavefunction. This quantity shows not only the arrangement of the electrons with respect to the nuclei, but also the arrangement of the electrons with respect to each other, and it allows the evaluation of the total energy and other properties. The many-electron wavefunction is in principle obtained by solving the many-electron Schrodinger equation for the motion of the interacting electrons under the influ ence of the nuclei, but in practice the equation is unsolvable, and it is necessary to proceed by methods of approximation. Needless to say, .such methods will as a rule depend on the complexity of the system considered.
