Diese Veränderungen machen auch vor dem Rückgrat der deutschen Wirtschaft, dem Mittelstand, nicht halt. Mittelständische Unternehmen sehen sich zunehmend mit der Herausforderung konfrontiert, ihre innerbetrieblichen Abläufe an die Anforderungen einer digitalen Welt anzupassen, um wettbewerbsfähig zu bleiben und zukünftige Chancen zu nutzen. In dieser Arbeit wird der Einfluss der Digitalisierung auf mittelständische Unternehmen genauer betrachtet, insbesondere im Hinblick auf ihre innerbetrieblichen Verwaltungsprozesse. Dazu werden zunächst die grundlegenden Konzepte von Mittelstand und Digitalisierung erläutert. Der Mittelstand wird dabei nicht nur als eine Größe definiert, sondern es werden auch seine spezifischen Merkmale und Strukturen untersucht, die ihn von anderen Unternehmensgrößen unterscheiden. Gleichzeitig wird die Entwicklung und Bedeutung der Digitalisierung für Unternehmen beleuchtet, einschließlich verschiedener Ausprägungen und Trends wie Cloud Computing, Big Data und Künstliche Intelligenz. Im nächsten Schritt wird eine Umfrage unter Mitarbeitern mittelständischer Unternehmen durchgeführt, um den aktuellen Stand der Digitalisierung in diesen Betrieben zu erfassen und die Meinungen und Erfahrungen der Mitarbeiter dazu zu erfahren. Dabei werden verschiedene Aspekte beleuchtet, darunter der Einsatz digitaler Technologien, die Flexibilität in der Arbeitsgestaltung und die Herausforderungen, die mit der Digitalisierung einhergehen. Das übergeordnete Ziel dieser Arbeit ist es, die Potenziale und Herausforderungen der Digitalisierung für mittelständische Unternehmen und ihre Mitarbeiter umfassend zu analysieren. Darauf aufbauend sollen konkrete Handlungsempfehlungen abgeleitet werden, um den digitalen Wandel erfolgreich zu gestalten und die Wettbewerbsfähigkeit der Unternehmen zu stärken. Letztendlich soll diese Arbeit dazu beitragen, dass mittelständische Unternehmen die Chancen der Digitalisierung nutzen können, um langfristig erfolgreich zu sein.
