Book Synopsis Assessment Scales in Depression and Anxiety - CORPORATE by : Raymond W. Lam
Download or read book Assessment Scales in Depression and Anxiety - CORPORATE written by Raymond W. Lam and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2006-08-08 with total page 210 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There are a number of books recently published on assessment scales for depression and anxiety. However, these books are generally more detailed than clinicians require, are specific to one or other condition, or involve specialty populations such as children or geriatrics. To meet the needs of clinicians treating patients with depressive and anxiety disorders, this volume aims to bring together empirically validated assessment scales. In a concise and user-friendly format, Assessment Scales in Depression and Anxiety illustrates the assessment scales used in clinical trials and research studies; shows how to select an assessment scale and to decide which scale to use for a particular clinical situation; and provides sample assessment scales for clinicians to use in their practice.

Book Synopsis Advancing Women's Health Through Medical Education by : Uta Landy
Download or read book Advancing Women's Health Through Medical Education written by Uta Landy and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2021-08-19 with total page 387 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Neither legalization of abortion nor scientific and political advances in contraception and abortion ensure that training and research in family planning are routinely integrated into medical education. Without integration, subsequent generations of healthcare professionals are not prepared to incorporate evidence-based family planning into their practices, teaching, or research. Omission of this crucial component prevents the cultural and professional normalization of an often stigmatized and embattled aspect of women's health. Taking the successful US-based Ryan and Family Planning Fellowship programs as templates for training, teaching, and academic leadership, this book describes the integration of family planning and pregnancy termination into curricula with an international outlook. With an evidence- and systems-based approach, the book is a unique and practical guide to inspire and train the next generation of healthcare professionals.

Book Synopsis Moving Beyond Environmental Compliance by : Thomas Elliott Welch
Download or read book Moving Beyond Environmental Compliance written by Thomas Elliott Welch and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2018-05-04 with total page 256 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since the U.S. Department of Energy (as well as other Federal and International agencies) will stop granting contracts to companies that fail to comply with 14000 standards, the search is on for any book that will make 14000 compliance easier. Tom Welch, with more than 20 years experience in environmental engineering and project management, provides such a book! Moving Beyond Environmental Compliance: A Handbook for Integrating Pollution Prevention with ISO 14000 is the first text to combine the best aspects of Pollution Prevention (P2), Total Quality Management (TQM), and ISO 14000, into a comprehensive "how-to" guidebook for achieving environmental compliance. The ever-increasing cost of environmental compliance as it is passed onto consumers, cuts into the profit margin and reduces an organization's competitive edge. At the very least, compliance cuts into operating budgets, and directs attention away from the primary business of an organization. This handbook demystifies the implementation of effective environmental management systems as described in the ISO 14000, and clarifies the application of effective pollution prevention methodologies that can drastically reduce this compliance burden.
Book Synopsis Preparing for Terrorism by : Institute of Medicine
Download or read book Preparing for Terrorism written by Institute of Medicine and published by National Academies Press. This book was released on 2002-07-11 with total page 330 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Metropolitan Medical Response System (MMRS) program of the U. S. Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) provides funds to major U. S. cities to help them develop plans for coping with the health and medical consequences of a terrorist attack with chemical, biological, or radiological (CBR) agents. DHHS asked the Institute of Medicine (IOM) to assist in assessing the effectiveness of the MMRS program by developing appropriate evaluation methods, tools, and processes to assess both its own management of the program and local preparedness in the cities that have participated in the program. This book provides the managers of the MMRS program and others concerned about local capabilities to cope with CBR terrorism with three evaluation tools and a three-part assessment method. The tools are a questionnaire survey eliciting feedback about the management of the MMRS program, a table of preparedness indicators for 23 essential response capabilities, and a set of three scenarios and related questions for group discussion. The assessment method described integrates document inspection, a site visit by a team of expert peer reviewers, and observations at community exercises and drills.
