The Lord desires that we move on toward spiritual maturity - "But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ" (2 Peter 3:18). In her Spiritual Food for Spiritual Growth series, Nancy Taylor Tate teaches from the scriptures about the most important matters of spiritual growth: developing a close personal relationship with God, and allowing Him to lead us into a victorious life by walking in His ways. That I Might Know Him, the first book, is focused on building an intimate, loving, personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ - the core of a meaningful spiritual life. Growing in that relationship is our first priority. Day by day, as we learn to live in His presence, we are brought into an identification with who He is and with His purposes. The shift of focus from what we "do" to what we are "becoming" as we "do," presents a meaningful and fruitful lifestyle filled with joy, expectation, hope, and purpose. The second book of the Spiritual Food for Spiritual Growth series, Walking in His Ways, emphasizes living triumphantly as we learn His ways and walk in them. These books, written over a lifetime, express truths that changed Nancy's life and the lives of others. Her heart-felt messages are uplifting and encouraging, inspiring us in our walk with the Lord. About the Author Nancy Taylor Tate serves as Director of Parousia Ministries, carrying the vision passed on from her father, Wade Taylor. Her special gift of relating to and loving people stems from her own love for Jesus and His Kingdom. Her background as pastor, teacher, administrator, author, and missionary has prepared her for what the Lord is doing today. Nancy, with her husband Allen, hosts Parousia Ministries Gatherings and travels from time to time to speak and pray with others. Their faith-building messages center on being made ready - the preparation of our lives, and the indwelling presence of Christ - made known to others through us.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A Special Book For You, This Book Will Change Your Life. In the changing and often ambiguous world of modern age, Christians need to hold firmly unto the Word of Christ to guide them in their daily life. The Gospel is the light along the path of those who are experiencing dark and difficult days; it's the light of hope to the broken heart. It's Spirit and Life. The Bible emphasizes the theme of food because it wants to make us understand spiritual nutrition. Food is important for the physical and spiritual health. No spirit can live without spiritual food. As the physical body continually needs food, so does the spirit. A major problem is that human nature compels us to focus almost totally upon the physical. We live in a world obsessed with outer improvement. People live in debt to maintain a glamorous appearance. Many people either in ignorance or willingly neglect taking care of their spiritual bodies. Life is not ultimately physical and the flesh is not the whole man. God provides us "Israel's experiences in the wilderness" to let us know that there is a spiritual aspect to life that requires feeding and maintenance, just as surely as the physical. The spiritual food is merely the food for your spirit or your spiritual body. It is amazing to know that you have to nourish your spirit on a daily basis just the same as you do with your flesh. Your spirit has a kind of food that the flesh knows nothing about. What food does your spirit need? Yes, this is a challenging question that deserves a proper answer. Spiritual bodies eat the word of God and drink the presence of God. God and His word are the sustenance of eternal and abundant life. We find in the word of God all the energy, vitamins and proteins that our spiritual body requires. We cannot be spiritually healthy without feeding upon the word of God. We can visit hundreds of different stores to get food to eat, and the food we buy from them will make us feel strong physically. However, there is only one place where we get the food that will feed us spiritually: God is the only provider of spiritual food. God's Word is just as essential to spiritual life as food is to physical life. Just as one must discipline oneself to provide and eat physical food, so must one exercise discipline to seek and ingest spiritual food. If one will not do this, then, just as physical health will decline without adequate food, a person's inadequate spiritual diet will lead to spiritual disease. Each person loves his body and nourishes it. However, many people neglect their inward being, they clean the outside of the cup but the inside is dirty. The real man is not the flesh, but the spirit that dwells inside the body (Job 32:8). It is therefore vitally important to take good care of the spirit rather than the body. The demands of the body, although important, are nothing compared to those of the soul. Seek the right spiritual food and feed your soul. I hope this book will be a source of blessings in your life and God bless you!

The greatest need of the Christian Church is a revival of the New Testament standard of living. There seems to be a wide gulf between what we believe and how we live, a marked contrast between our position in Christ and our actual experience. Too often we claim to believe our Bible from cover to cover, but fail to live out its truths in daily conduct. The spiritual emphasis of the book of Joshua is to move the believer beyond conversion into the land of promise that awaits us here and now. This book is written with the fervent prayer that the Lord may use it for His glory to help many people face afresh the implications of the Cross and the pattern of God's redemption in personal life.

They want to flourish, to experience victory in their Christian lives. They want to live in the overcoming power that the cross provides. But they are stuck. They are like my friend, John, who works sixty hours per week, sits in two hours of traffic each day and carries the burdens of the world on his shoulders. He and his wife, Jenny, love each other, or at least they used to. They now spend their time together carting their kids to activities after driving through Taco Bell for dinner. Every week, John sits in the second row at church, listening to the pastor, and he and Jenny volunteer in the children's church. But he told me last week that he is exhausted. On the surface, he has a good life, but deep down he is drowning. He has no real victory. How does someone like John stem the tide? How does he start living the victorious lifestyle Jesus came to offer? Many find the answer in promises of a magic pill, something that provides a quick fix. But such fixes don't exist. The victory of God is an ongoing lifestyle while adopting and applying certain priorities that prepare and equip us for life. True victory comes in heaven and not on earth. And only the Spirit of God living through the believer based on God's Word can give true victory. But there are basic principles that God has used throughout the centuries to encourage believers and give them victory. In this book, I've pinpointed nine principles and priorities that will help a believer live a victorious Christian life. They are: victory in preparing for eternity victory in experiencing God's love victory in God's grace victory in God's sovereignty victory in spending time with Jesus victory in close relationships victory in the local church victory in rest victory in healthy living These nine priorities will help you understand and apply principles that are simple, biblical, and time-tested to produce spiritual, emotional, and physical benefits. My aim is to stimulate you to live these biblical truths while allowing the Holy Spirit to transform you.
