James and published by . This book was released on 2013-11-01 with total page 242 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Cosmetics are substances used to enhance the appearance or scent of the human body. They are also used for the purposes of cleansing, beautifying, promoting attractiveness or alternating one's appearance. Although we call them cosmetics when used by women and toiletries when used by men, they include skin-care creams, shaving creams, lotions, powders, shampoos, perfumes, lipsticks, nail polish, makeup, deodorant, permanent waves, colored contact lenses, hair colors, hair sprays, gels, and items for dental care. However, God is not concerned with our physical appearance because these mortal bodies will one day put on immortality, and the corruptible will one day put on incorruptible. The Bible depicts us as the church, the bride of Christ who awaits the bridegroom. He is concerned with our spiritual nature. He is concerned with our soul. Can we be trusted with eternity is the question. To be presented on the Day of Judgment without spot, stain, or wrinkle, we need the cosmetic application of the Word of God. We need its life-giving water and blood as revealed in Christ Jesus to cover our confessed sins. We need it to rid ourselves of the terrible scent of sin. We need it for daily spiritual cleansing, beautifying, and for promoting our spiritual attractiveness. In other words, we need it to change us from glory to glory into the image of Christ. Our Lord and Savior is soon to return, and we need to be ready to receive him. This book contains 55 original, revealing and shocking, Holy-Spirit inspired, thought-provoking, and heartfelt devotionals written especially for black women-one for each week of the year (three extra devotionals for Week 52). Each devotional ends with a prayer box that allows you to personally commit yourselves and to reflect on the author's experiences and your own in relation to the Word of God.

The reader is presented with precepts and writings that provide a new insights and perspectives on spirituality, healing and our inner world as spiritual beings. "This book uses the wisdom of the ages, our present day knowledge on healing and the mysteries of quantum mechanics to open up a new age of therapeutic practice. This book is meant to empower all of us to become the creation beings we really are. The book shows us how to rediscover our real powers for creation and transformation. Quantum mechanics are proof of what the majority of us have forgotten, we are all angels that have unimaginable abilities--all we have to do is remember how to use them." - Phil Diaz "We have now come to the Age of Aquarius, the celestial cosmic turning of the dawn of a new consciousness. This is thought evolution, spiritual evolution. We are soldiers in a spiritual war and we must choose which side we will make a stand with. Crazy as it sounds, we are choosing a battle between our spirit and our brain, for this is a battle that is won from within, through the actions of the heart, by finding balance." - P. D. Download or read book Wholeheartedness written by Chuck DeGroat and published by Wm. B. Eerdmans Publishing. This book was released on 2016 with total page 208 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I'm being pulled in a thousand different directions. As a therapist, Chuck DeGroat hears that line all the time. "I hear it from students and software developers," he says. "I hear it from spiritual leaders and coffee baristas. And I hear it from my own inner self." We all feel that nasty pull to and fro, the frantic busyness that exhausts us and threatens to undo us. And we all think we know the solution -- more downtime, more relaxation, more rest. And we're all wrong. As DeGroat himself has discovered, the real solution to what pulls us apart is wholeheartedness, a way of living and being that can transform us from the inside out. And that's what readers of this book will discover too.
Download or read book Sacred Pathways written by Gary Thomas and published by Zondervan. This book was released on 2020-09-08 with total page 289 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sacred Pathways reveals nine distinct spiritual temperaments--and their strengths, weaknesses, and tendencies--to help you improve your spiritual life and deepen your personal walk with God. It's time to strip away the frustration of a one-size-fits-all spirituality and discover a path of worship that frees you to be you. Experienced spiritual directors, pastors, and church leaders recognize that all of us engage with God differently, and it's about time we do too. In this updated and expanded edition of Sacred Pathways, Gary Thomas details nine spiritual temperaments and--like the Enneagram and other tools do with personality--encourages you to investigate the ways you most naturally express yourself in your relationship with God. He encourages you to dig into the traits, strengths, and pitfalls in your devotional approach so you can eliminate the barriers that keep you locked into rigid methods of worship and praise. Plus, as you begin to identify and understand your own temperament, you'll soon learn about the temperaments that aren't necessarily "you" but that may help you understand the spiritual tendencies of friends, family, and others around you. Whatever temperament or blend of temperaments best describes you, rest assured it's not by accident. It's by the design of a Creator who knew what he was doing when he made you according to his own unique intentions. If your spiritual walk is not what you'd like it to be, you can change that, starting here. Sacred Pathways will show you the route you were made to travel, marked by growth and filled with the riches of a close walk with God. A Sacred Pathways video Bible study is also available for group or individual use, sold separately.
Book Synopsis Friend of the Soul by : Norvene Vest
Download or read book Friend of the Soul written by Norvene Vest and published by Rowman & Littlefield. This book was released on 1997 with total page 166 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this second book in her series on Benedictine spirituality, Norvene Vest brings the insights of Benedict's Rule to the world of work. A gifted interpreter of Benedict's wisdom, Vest examines with empathy and clarity the plight of men and women who wish for their work to be life-giving, a service to others, and the place where they can experience the presence of God. Vest brings Benedict's perspective to three areas of work discontent today: the stress of performance, overproduction, and acquisitiveness. To these she opposes three Benedictine principles: vocation, or being called to what we do; stewardship, or taking care of what we are given; and obedience, or serving one another. Her emphasis is on the words of Benedict's primary text and its application for people today. Each chapter concludes with extensive spiritual exercises and food for thought.
