Book Synopsis Empowered Believers by : Gonzalo Haya-Prats
Download or read book Empowered Believers written by Gonzalo Haya-Prats and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2011-01-01 with total page 317 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This thesis by Gonzalo Haya-Prats, written in the Catholic interpretive tradition under the supervision of Johannine scholar Ignace de la Potterie at the Gregorian University in Rome, reflects a faith tradition that historically remained open to the miraculous and resisted regulations on activities of the Holy Spirit in the Book of Acts. Accordingly, Haya-Prats interprets the workings of the Spirit from a perspective of narrative sensitivity. He is deliberately diligent to exercise due care so as not to obscure narrative flow and connectivity, despite any ecclesial or interpretive precedents that might be of influence to the contrary. His exegetical method is to let the original meaning be discerned and discovered according to the author's intention as closely as possible. With this sound interpretive approach Haya-Prats achieves a remarkable degree of freshness and insightful vision that all readers of Luke-Acts will welcome. Students and scholars alike should find this timely and thoughtful thesis to be a valuable and long-lasting contribution to New Testament studies. This English edition is made more accessible by including translations of all contemporary foreign languages, and editor Paul Elbert offers occasional explanatory notes that engage current scholarship relevant to Haya-Prats's presentation.

In this book, Hamilton considers important questions of life, reality, and truth. He explores not only what Christians believe, but also why they believe it and why it matters. Book excerpt: After years of witnessing the sometimes rancorous controversy between the Evangelical and Pentecostal camps, authors Rich Nathan and Ken Wilson suggest it's way past time to recognize that there's really only one camp. It is unnecessary to choose between the biblical emphasis of the great Evangelical tradition and the spiritual vitality of the Pentecostal and Charismatic traditions. A new breed of believers called Empowered Evangelicals has arisen to combine the best elements of both traditions. In this revised and updated edition, Empowered Evangelicals examines the teaching and practice of empowered Evangelical churches and shows both Pentecostals and Evangelicals how to combine the best elements of both congregations.
Book Synopsis Spirit Empowered Preaching by : Mozart Dor PhD
Download or read book Spirit Empowered Preaching written by Mozart Dor PhD and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2020-11-24 with total page 137 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Although there are several preaching books today, there are only handfuls, if any, that address the centrality of the Holy Spirit in preaching. A hindrance to preaching in the twenty-first century is over intellectualization of the Gospel. After receiving a Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Preaching, I thought I was now ready to prepare and preach an effective sermon that will draw any audience to Christ. I told myself, “I am ready. I have attained and I can double the size of any given church with my vast knowledge on preaching.” Little did I know that my degrees from the best schools around the world were not sufficient to preach the whole counsel of God’s Word. I have come to realize that clever persuasions of men do not change lives. The name of Jesus through the power of the Holy Ghost does. The secret ingredient in preparing and preaching Spirit-empowered messages is the power of the Holy Spirit. Ministers of the Gospel must not depend upon natural means to produce supernatural results, but must use supernatural means to produce supernatural results. Paul said to the Thessalonians, “Our gospel did not come to you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Spirit and in much assurance” (1 Thess. 1:5). The church is in desperate need of revival. Sinners are urgently in need of the Savior, and only the Spirit of God can convict sinners of their sins and bring revival to the nations. Consequently, the goal of this book is not to produce another great preaching book, but to help students and ministers prepare and present effective, Holy Spirit-empowered sermons to their audience. The book seeks to instruct readers on the importance of the Holy Spirit in preaching the Word of God while laying the foundational building blocks of effective preaching. This book is for both beginning ministers who are just starting ministry and for veteran ministers who would like to brush up on their preaching and teaching skills in order to become better, Spirit-empowered ministers of the Gospel. May God bless you and speak mightily through you with clarity, urgency, fervency and power as you endeavor to preach Spirit-empowered messages to a dying generation.

Download or read book Journey Into the Spirit Empowered Life written by Chris Vennetti and published by . This book was released on 2014-03-12 with total page 324 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Jesus stated that whoever believes in Him would do even greater works than He did because He was going to the Father (John 14:12). With such solid promises from God Himself, why is it that so many sincere Christ-followers feel confined to a life of spiritual mediocrity? How is it that those who have the Spirit of God living in them are failing to live in victory over sin? Why is there so much lack of love and unity among those called to represent God's life to the world? Journey into the Spirit Empowered Life is a book that transcends culture, and taps into the deepest desires that God has placed in the human soul. This book addresses some of the hard questions that many Christ-followers have in their hearts but have not found answers to. Through the pages of this book we will seek to break the status quo and enter into a new reality with God that will transform every aspect of our lives.
Book Synopsis Word Spirit Power by : R. T. Kendall
Download or read book Word Spirit Power written by R. T. Kendall and published by Baker Books. This book was released on 2012-06-01 with total page 209 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Proven Formula for a Balanced, Effective Christian Life Too often churches emphasize the Bible without welcoming the work of the Holy Spirit, who inspired the Bible. Or they focus on seeking manifestations of the Spirit while neglecting sound Bible teaching. The result: a schism in their faith lives in which they cut God--and his power--out of Christianity's equation. How can God draw a lost world to his Son through people who are powerless? With over 170 years of diverse ministry experience among them, respected veteran leaders R. T. Kendall, Charles Carrin, and Jack Taylor restore balance to the Christian walk. They show that when the Word is faithfully preached and the Holy Spirit warmly welcomed, the Lord manifests his power, bringing salvation, miracles, healings, heart understanding, and much more. Only when Christians honor the Word and the Spirit can they lead empowered, fruitful lives.
Book Synopsis The Truth About Grace by : Vinson Synan
Download or read book The Truth About Grace written by Vinson Synan and published by Charisma Media. This book was released on 2018-04-03 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Often the modern grace message gives people a license to disregard the clear moral teachings of Jesus and the apostles. Churches around the globe teach a lawless grace and direct many to make choices of convenience and compromise. Consequently Christianity loses public credibility as so-called leaders of faith fall into adultery, child abuse, alcoholism, financial corruption, and many other sins. This is the great crisis of the twenty-first-century church, and respected theologian Vinson Synan says it’s time to bring it to light. Featuring perspectives of leaders from a range of cultural, pastoral, and theological backgrounds, The Truth About Grace opens the discussion to more than a dozen scholarly contributors, tackling topics such as grace and the security of the believer; grace versus works; and tongues as a manifestation of grace. Synan brings you the key voices on this hot topic, from hyper-grace critic Michael Brown to Singaporean pastor Joseph Prince, whom some consider a leading voice in the hyper-grace movement. The Truth About Grace will help you discern the unbiblical excesses in the modern grace message while growing in understanding of the true nature and purpose of grace.
