Book Synopsis Field Guide to Digital Micro-optics by : Bernard C. Kress
Download or read book Field Guide to Digital Micro-optics written by Bernard C. Kress and published by . This book was released on 2014 with total page 172 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Traditional macro-optics can be designed without complex design software tools. However, digital optics, especially wafer-scale micro-optics, require specific software and tools. There is often no analytical solution, and thus complex iterative optimization algorithms may be required. This book covers refractive and diffractive micro-optics, the iterative optimization process, and modeling and fabrication techniques crucial to this field. The ability to create hybrid systems capable of producing analog and digital functionality is also addressed.

Book Synopsis Wavefront Optics for Vision Correction by : Guang-ming Dai
Download or read book Wavefront Optics for Vision Correction written by Guang-ming Dai and published by SPIE Press. This book was released on 2008 with total page 367 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book addresses some of the issues in visual optics with a functional analysis of ocular aberrations, especially for the purpose of vision correction. The basis is the analytical representation of ocular aberrations with a set of orthonormal polynomials, such as Zernike polynomials or the Fourier series. Although the aim of this book is the application of wavefront optics to laser vision correction, most of the theories discussed are equally applicable to other methods of vision correction, such as contact lenses and intraocular lenses.

Download or read book Image Acquisition written by M.W. Burke and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 959 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: MV engineering is a truly multidisciplinary area and perhaps because of this, it is plagued with imprecise jargon. This book attempts to collect the fundamental concepts into a single, well-integrated, self-consistent exposition that will serve as a relatively painless introduction to the field of MV Engineering. The ultimate goal is an enlightened practitioner capable of using this powerful new technology effectively.

Book Synopsis Optical Scattering by : John C. Stover
Download or read book Optical Scattering written by John C. Stover and published by SPIE-International Society for Optical Engineering. This book was released on 2012 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The first edition of this book concentrated on relating scatter from optically smooth surfaces to the microroughness on those surfaces. After spending six years in the semiconductor industry, Dr. Stover has updated and expanded the third edition. Newly included are scatter models for pits and particles as well as the use of wafer scanners to locate and size isolated surface features. New sections cover the multimillion-dollar wafer scanner business, establishing that microroughness is the noise, not the signal, in these systems. Scatter measurements, now routinely used to determine whether small-surface features are pits or particles and inspiring new technology that provides information on particle material, are also discussed. These new capabilities are now supported by a series of international standards, and a new chapter reviews those documents. New information on scatter from optically rough surfaces has also been added. Once the critical limit is exceeded, scatter cannot be used to determine surface-roughness statistics, but considerable information can still be obtained - especially when measurements are made on mass-produced products. Changes in measurement are covered, and the reader will find examples of scatter measurements made using a camera for a fraction of the cost and in a fraction of the time previously possible. The idea of relating scatter to surface appearance is also discussed, and appearance has its own short chapter. After all, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and what we see is scattered light.
Book Synopsis How to Write a Good Scientific Paper by : CHRIS A. MACK
Download or read book How to Write a Good Scientific Paper written by CHRIS A. MACK and published by . This book was released on 2018 with total page 122 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Many scientists and engineers consider themselves poor writers or find the writing process difficult. The good news is that you do not have to be a talented writer to produce a good scientific paper, but you do have to be a careful writer. In particular, writing for a peer-reviewed scientific or engineering journal requires learning and executing a specific formula for presenting scientific work. This book is all about teaching the style and conventions of writing for a peer-reviewed scientific journal. From structure to style, titles to tables, abstracts to author lists, this book gives practical advice about the process of writing a paper and getting it published.

Book Synopsis Opto-Mechanical Systems Design, Volume 1 by : Paul Yoder
Download or read book Opto-Mechanical Systems Design, Volume 1 written by Paul Yoder and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2017-12-19 with total page 711 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Opto-Mechanical Systems Design, Fourth Edition is different in many ways from its three earlier editions: coauthor Daniel Vukobratovich has brought his broad expertise in materials, opto-mechanical design, analysis of optical instruments, large mirrors, and structures to bear throughout the book; Jan Nijenhuis has contributed a comprehensive new chapter on kinematics and applications of flexures; and several other experts in special aspects of opto-mechanics have contributed portions of other chapters. An expanded feature—a total of 110 worked-out design examples—has been added to several chapters to show how the theory, equations, and analytical methods can be applied by the reader. Finally, the extended text, new illustrations, new tables of data, and new references have warranted publication of this work in the form of two separate but closely entwined volumes. This first volume, Design and Analysis of Opto-Mechanical Assemblies, addresses topics pertaining primarily to optics smaller than 50 cm aperture. It summarizes the opto-mechanical design process, considers pertinent environmental influences, lists and updates key parameters for materials, illustrates numerous ways for mounting individual and multiple lenses, shows typical ways to design and mount windows and similar components, details designs for many types of prisms and techniques for mounting them, suggests designs and mounting techniques for small mirrors, explains the benefits of kinematic design and uses of flexures, describes how to analyze various types of opto-mechanical interfaces, demonstrates how the strength of glass can be determined and how to estimate stress generated in optics, and explains how changing temperature affects opto-mechanical assemblies.
