Book Synopsis A Discussion of the Geomagnetic Indices Kp and Ap, 1932 to 1971 by : Allan L. Cage
Download or read book A Discussion of the Geomagnetic Indices Kp and Ap, 1932 to 1971 written by Allan L. Cage and published by . This book was released on 1972 with total page 44 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Forty years (1 January 1932 to 31 December 1971) of geomagnetic data in terms of the indices Kp and ap were examined. The frequency distributions of these indices and their semiannual and diurnal variations are tabulated and discussed. Frequency tables were generated based on the present value of the index and the succeeding value of the index. These tables clearly demonstrate the persistent nature of Kp and ap. The use of these data as an aid in geomagnetic forecasting is also discussed. (Author).

Book Synopsis From the Earth's Core to Outer Space by : Ilmari Haapala
Download or read book From the Earth's Core to Outer Space written by Ilmari Haapala and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-03-26 with total page 340 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From the Earth's Core to Outer Space focuses on four themes: (1) Evolving Earth’s crust, (2) Changing Baltic Sea, (3) Climate Change, and (4) Planet Earth, third stone from Sun. The focus on these four topics provides both a state of the art review of earth science topics of particular importance to Scandinavia and the Baltic and also the global context in which a consideration of these topics must be made. It finishes by discussing our use of space born technologies for understanding these topics and places the Earth within the context of our neighbouring planets and their satellites. The first theme includes papers on the structure, origin and evolution of the Earth’s crust and in particular the ore deposits in Fennoscandia, plate-tectonic drift of Fennoscandia (Baltica), and postglacial isostatic rebound of the crust. The second theme contains papers dealing with changes in the ice season of the Baltic Sea, inflow and stagnation in deep basins, biology of the Baltic Sea, and carbon dioxide balance in sea water. The third theme deals with origin and evolution of oxygen in atmosphere, postglacial climate change, effects of aerosols and greenhouse gases on climate, interplay between anthropogenic and natural factors in the current climate change, and Earth’s water resources. The fourth theme includes articles on Earth’s space environment, use of satellites in cartography and geodesy, information obtained by space probes on Mars and other planets and their moons, and possibilities to find life on them.

Book Synopsis Chronomics and Continuous Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring by : Kuniaki Otsuka
Download or read book Chronomics and Continuous Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring written by Kuniaki Otsuka and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-03-05 with total page 934 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This fascinating volume applies the concept of chronomics to the medical treatment of hypertension. It starts with the recent updates on chronomics, the analytic techniques, and their application to community-based assessments. The authors advocate the use of 7-day/24-h records of blood pressure, which is effective for finding masked hypertension, masked morning surge, and other rhythm abnormalities. Most organisms, from cyanobacteria to mammals, are known to use the circadian mechanism. However, our body systems also demonstrate circaseptan (roughly weekly), circannual (roughly yearly), and even longer rhythms. Chronomics monitors the physiological data and then analyzes the superimposed rhythms, isolating the cycles mathematically to determine how organisms and their environment interact. It is the study of interactions among time structures (chronomes) in and around us.
Book Synopsis Literature 1972, Part 2 by : S. Böhme

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Astronomy and Astrophysics Abstracts, which has appeared in semi-annual volumes since 1969, is de voted to the recording, summarizing and indexing of astronomical publications throughout the world. It is prepared under the auspices of the International Astronomical Union (according to a resolution adopted at the 14th General Assembly in 1970). Astronomy and Astrophysics Abstracts aims to present a comprehensive documentation of literature in all fields of astronomy and astrophysics. Every effort will be made to ensure that the average time interval between the date of receipt of the original literature and publication of the abstracts will not exceed eight months. This time interval is near to that achieved by monthly abstracting journals, com pared to which our system of accumulating abstracts for about six months offers the advantage of greater convenience for the user. Volume 8 contains literature published in 1972 and received before March 15, 1973; some older liter ature which was received late and which is not recorded in earlier volumes is also included.
