Book excerpt: The overall objective of this investigation is to develop experimentally verified models for circulating fluidized bed (CFB) combustors. Spectral analysis of CFB data obtained at Illinois Institute of Technology shows that the frequencies of pressure oscillations are less than 0.1 Hertz and that they increase with solids volume fraction to the usual value of one Hertz obtained in bubbling beds. These data are consistent with the kinetic theory interpretation of density wave propagation.

Book Synopsis Spectral Analysis for Physical Applications by : Donald B. Percival
Download or read book Spectral Analysis for Physical Applications written by Donald B. Percival and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 1993-06-03 with total page 616 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is an up-to-date introduction to univariate spectral analysis at the graduate level, which reflects a new scientific awareness of spectral complexity, as well as the widespread use of spectral analysis on digital computers with considerable computational power. The text provides theoretical and computational guidance on the available techniques, emphasizing those that work in practice. Spectral analysis finds extensive application in the analysis of data arising in many of the physical sciences, ranging from electrical engineering and physics to geophysics and oceanography. A valuable feature of the text is that many examples are given showing the application of spectral analysis to real data sets. Special emphasis is placed on the multitaper technique, because of its practical success in handling spectra with intricate structure, and its power to handle data with or without spectral lines. The text contains a large number of exercises, together with an extensive bibliography.

This book was released on 2001 with total page 382 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "This book presents the first systematic introduction to time-frequency analysis understood as a central area of applied harmonic analysis, while at the same time honoring its interdisciplinary origins. Important principles are (a) classical Fourier analysis as a tool that is central in modern mathematics, (b) the mathematical structures based on the operations of translation and modulations (i.e., the Heisenberg group), (c) the many forms of the uncertainty principle, and (d) the omnipresence of Gaussian functions, both in the methodology of proofs and in important statements."--BOOK JACKET.

This book was released on 2011-08-30 with total page 954 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book enables design engineers to be more effective in designing discrete and integrated circuits by helping them understand the role of analog devices in their circuit design. Analog elements are at the heart of many important functions in both discrete and integrated circuits, but from a design perspective the analog components are often the most difficult to understand. Examples include operational amplifiers, D/A and A/D converters and active filters. Effective circuit design requires a strong understanding of the operation of these analog devices and how they affect circuit design. Comprehensive coverage of analog circuit components for the practicing engineerMarket-validated design information for all major types of linear circuitsIncludes practical advice on how to read op amp data sheets and how to choose off-the-shelf op ampsFull chapter covering printed circuit board design issues
