Such endeavors are making new contributions to the globalization and creating a community of shared future. The 4th International Conference on Big Data and Social Sciences (ICBDSS 2023) was held on August 18 - 20, 2023, in Changsha, China. In order to allow more scholars to have the opportunity to participate in the conference to share and exchange experience. This conference mainly focused on "big data", "social science" and other research fields to discuss. At present, my country has entered the era of "big data cloud migration", that is, the era of big data, the Internet of things, cloud computing and mobile Internet. The market demand for big data talents is also increasing day by day. The purpose of the conference is to provide a way for experts, scholars, engineering technicians, and technical R&D personnel engaged in big data and social science research to share scientific research results and cutting-edge technologies, understand academic development trends, broaden research ideas, strengthen academic research and discussion, and promote the academic achievement industry Platform for chemical cooperation. The conference sincerely invites experts, scholars from domestic and foreign universities, scientific research institutions, business people and other relevant personnel to participate in the conference.

Book Synopsis Bayesian Analysis of Demand Under Block Rate Pricing by : Koji Miyawaki
Download or read book Bayesian Analysis of Demand Under Block Rate Pricing written by Koji Miyawaki and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2019-12-16 with total page 120 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book focuses on the structural analysis of demand under block rate pricing, a type of nonlinear pricing used mainly in public utility services. In this price system, consumers are presented with several unit prices, which makes a naive analysis biased. However, the response to the price schedule is often of interest in economics and plays an important role in policymaking. To address this issue, the book adopts a structural approach, referred to as the discrete/continuous choice approach in the literature, to develop corresponding statistical models for analysis. The resulting models are extensions of the Tobit model, a well-known statistical model in econometrics, and their hierarchical structure fits well in Bayesian methodology. Thus, the book takes the Bayesian approach and develops the Markov chain Monte Carlo method to conduct statistical inferences. The methodology derived is then applied to real-world datasets, microdata collected in Tokyo and the neighboring Chiba Prefecture, as a useful empirical analysis for prediction as well as policymaking.
Book Synopsis Advanced Lectures in Quantitative Economics by : Frederick van Der Ploeg
Download or read book Advanced Lectures in Quantitative Economics written by Frederick van Der Ploeg and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2014-05-01 with total page 649 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Advanced Lectures in Quantitative Economics summarizes some of the efforts of a second-phase program for first-rate candidates with a Master's degree in economics who wish to continue with a doctoral degree in quantitative economics. This book is organized into three main topics—macroeconomics, microeconomics, and econometrics. This text specifically discusses the Neo-Keynesian macroeconomics in an open economy, international coordination of monetary policies under alternative exchange-rate regimes, and prospects for global trade imbalances. The post-war developments in labor economics, introduction to overlapping generation models, and measurement of expectations and direct tests of the REH are also elaborated. This monograph likewise covers the dynamic econometric modeling of decisions under uncertainty and fundamental bordered matrix of linear estimation. This publication is a good reference for students and specialists interested in quantitative economics.
Book Synopsis Advances in Econometrics and Modelling by : B. Raj
Download or read book Advances in Econometrics and Modelling written by B. Raj and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-03-09 with total page 207 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: During 1985-86, the acquisition editor for the humanities and social sciences division of Kluwer Academic Publishers in the Netherlands visited the University of Horida (where I was also visiting while on sabbatical leave from Wilfrid Laurier University as the McKethan-Matherly Senior Research Fellow) to discuss publishing plans of the faculty. He expressed a keen interest in publishing the proceedings of the conference of the Canadian Econometric Study Group (CESG) that was to be held the following year at WLU. This volume is the end product of his interest, endurance, and persistence. But for his persistence I would have given up on th~ project Most of the papers (though not all) included in this volume are based on presentations at CESG conferences. In some cases scholars were invited to contribute to this volume where their research complimented those presented at these conferences even though they were not conference participants. Since papers selected for presentation at the CESG conferences are generally the finished product of scholarly research and often under submission to refereed journals, it was not possible to publish the conference proceedings in their entirety. Accordingly it was decided, in consultation with the publisher, to invite a select list of authors to submit significant extensions of the papers they presented at the CESG conferences for inclusion in this volume. The editor wishes to express gratitude to all those authors who submitted their papers for evaluation by anonymous referees and for making revisions to conform to our editorial process.
Book Synopsis Estimating Economic Values for Nature by : Vincent Kerry Smith
Download or read book Estimating Economic Values for Nature written by Vincent Kerry Smith and published by Edward Elgar Publishing. This book was released on 1996-06 with total page 644 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Estimating Economic Values for Nature presents, in one volume, a collection of V. Kerry Smith's papers prepared over 25 years dealing with the theory and practice of non-market valuation for environmental resources. Taken together, the papers explore the conceptual basis, the implementation process and empirical performance of all available methods of measuring economic values for the services of nature and how these values are constructed from people's choices. The issues discussed in this volume include travel cost recreation demand, averting behaviour, household production, hedonic property value, hedonic wage and contingent valuation methods. These essays describe what has been learned from past benefit analysis, using meta-analysis, as well as the issues at the frontier of current research in the area. This important volume will be welcomed by environmental and public economists, as well as practitioners of cost-benefit analysis, as an authoritative and comprehensive discussion of non-market valuation.

Book Synopsis Consumer Durable Choice and the Demand for Electricity by : J.A. Dubin
Download or read book Consumer Durable Choice and the Demand for Electricity written by J.A. Dubin and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2014-07-22 with total page 286 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book develops the theory of durable choice and utilization. The basic assumption is that the demand for energy is a derived demand arising through the production of household services. Durable choice is associated with the choice of a particular technology for providing the household service. Econometric systems are derived which capture both the discrete choice nature of appliance selection and the determination of continuous conditional demand.Using the National Interim Energy Consumption Survey (NIECS) from 1978, a nested logit model of room air-conditioning, central air-conditioning, space-heating and water heating is estimated. The estimated probability choice model is used to forecast the impacts of proposed building standards for newly constructed single family detached residences. A network thermal model provides unit energy consumptions for alternative heating and cooling systems across time. Monthly billing data matched to NIECS is analyzed permitting seasonal estimation of the demand for electricity and natural gas by households. The theory of price specification for demand subject to a declining rate structure is reviewed and tested. Finally, consistent estimation procedures are used in the presence of possible correlation between dummy variables indicating appliance ownership and the equation error. The hypothesis of simultaneity in the demand system is tested.Conditional moments in the generalized extreme value family are derived to extend discrete continuous econometric systems in which discrete choice is assumed logistic. An efficiency comparison of various two-stage consistent estimation techniques applied to a single equation of a dummy endogenous simultaneous equation system is undertaken and asymptotic distributions are derived for each estimation method.
