Book Synopsis Many Body Quantum Chaos by : Sandro Wimberger
Download or read book Many Body Quantum Chaos written by Sandro Wimberger and published by Mdpi AG. This book was released on 2020-10-02 with total page 222 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The field of chaos in many-body quantum systems has a long history, going back to Wigner's simple models for heavy nuclei. Quantum chaos is being investigated in a broad variety of experimental platforms such as heavy nuclei, driven (few-electron) atoms, ultracold quantum gases, and photonic or microwave realizations. Quantum chaos plays a new and important role in many branches of physics, from condensed matter problems of many-body localization, including thermalization studies in closed and open quantum systems, and the question of dynamical stability relevant for quantum information and quantum simulation. This Special Issue and its related book address theories and experiments, methods from classical chaos, semiclassics, and random matrix theory, as well as many-body condensed matter physics. It is dedicated to Prof. Shmuel Fishman, who was one of the major representatives of the field over almost four decades, who passed away in 2019.

Book Synopsis Nonlinear Dynamics and Entropy of Complex Systems with Hidden and Self-excited Attractors by : Christos Volos
Download or read book Nonlinear Dynamics and Entropy of Complex Systems with Hidden and Self-excited Attractors written by Christos Volos and published by MDPI. This book was released on 2019-05-03 with total page 290 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In recent years, entropy has been used as a measure of the degree of chaos in dynamical systems. Thus, it is important to study entropy in nonlinear systems. Moreover, there has been increasing interest in the last few years regarding the novel classification of nonlinear dynamical systems including two kinds of attractors: self-excited attractors and hidden attractors. The localization of self-excited attractors by applying a standard computational procedure is straightforward. In systems with hidden attractors, however, a specific computational procedure must be developed, since equilibrium points do not help in the localization of hidden attractors. Some examples of this kind of system are chaotic dynamical systems with no equilibrium points; with only stable equilibria, curves of equilibria, and surfaces of equilibria; and with non-hyperbolic equilibria. There is evidence that hidden attractors play a vital role in various fields ranging from phase-locked loops, oscillators, describing convective fluid motion, drilling systems, information theory, cryptography, and multilevel DC/DC converters. This Special Issue is a collection of the latest scientific trends on the advanced topics of dynamics, entropy, fractional order calculus, and applications in complex systems with self-excited attractors and hidden attractors.

Book Synopsis Generalized Statistical Thermodynamics by : Themis Matsoukas
Download or read book Generalized Statistical Thermodynamics written by Themis Matsoukas and published by Springer. This book was released on 2019-05-08 with total page 373 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book gives the definitive mathematical answer to what thermodynamics really is: a variational calculus applied to probability distributions. Extending Gibbs's notion of ensemble, the Author imagines the ensemble of all possible probability distributions and assigns probabilities to them by selection rules that are fairly general. The calculus of the most probable distribution in the ensemble produces the entire network of mathematical relationships we recognize as thermodynamics. The first part of the book develops the theory for discrete and continuous distributions while the second part applies this thermodynamic calculus to problems in population balance theory and shows how the emergence of a giant component in aggregation, and the shattering transition in fragmentation may be treated as formal phase transitions. While the book is intended as a research monograph, the material is self-contained and the style sufficiently tutorial to be accessible for self-paced study by an advanced graduate student in such fields as physics, chemistry, and engineering.
Book Synopsis Hyperbolic Chaos by : Sergey P. Kuznetsov
Download or read book Hyperbolic Chaos written by Sergey P. Kuznetsov and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-03-20 with total page 318 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Hyperbolic Chaos: A Physicist’s View” presents recent progress on uniformly hyperbolic attractors in dynamical systems from a physical rather than mathematical perspective (e.g. the Plykin attractor, the Smale – Williams solenoid). The structurally stable attractors manifest strong stochastic properties, but are insensitive to variation of functions and parameters in the dynamical systems. Based on these characteristics of hyperbolic chaos, this monograph shows how to find hyperbolic chaotic attractors in physical systems and how to design a physical systems that possess hyperbolic chaos. This book is designed as a reference work for university professors and researchers in the fields of physics, mechanics, and engineering. Dr. Sergey P. Kuznetsov is a professor at the Department of Nonlinear Processes, Saratov State University, Russia.

Book Synopsis Nonlinear Analysis by : Leszek Gasinski
Download or read book Nonlinear Analysis written by Leszek Gasinski and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2005-07-27 with total page 992 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nonlinear analysis is a broad, interdisciplinary field characterized by a remarkable mixture of analysis, topology, and applications. Its concepts and techniques provide the tools for developing more realistic and accurate models for a variety of phenomena encountered in fields ranging from engineering and chemistry to economics and biology. This volume focuses on topics in nonlinear analysis pertinent to the theory of boundary value problems and their application in areas such as control theory and the calculus of variations. It complements the many other books on nonlinear analysis by addressing topics previously discussed fully only in scattered research papers. These include recent results on critical point theory, nonlinear differential operators, and related regularity and comparison principles. The rich variety of topics, both theoretical and applied, make Nonlinear Analysis useful to anyone, whether graduate student or researcher, working in analysis or its applications in optimal control, theoretical mechanics, or dynamical systems. An appendix contains all of the background material needed, and a detailed bibliography forms a guide for further study.
