Jedoch werden den Schulsozialarbeitern oft nur die Funktion des "Helfers" zugesprochen, die sich den Lehrern unterordnen müssen. Das Ziel dieser Arbeit ist, einen allgemeinen Überblick über das Handlungsfeld der Schulsozialarbeit zu geben und dabei die Rahmenbedingungen kritisch zu beleuchten. Zusätzlich möchte ich der Frage nachgehen, inwieweit die Schulsozialarbeiter von den Lehrern integriert werden und ob eine Kooperation zwischen Schule und Schulsozialarbeit verlässlich an allen Schulen stattfindet. Um diese Frage zu beantworten, wurde eine Online-Befragung durchgeführt, dich sich bundesweit an die Lehrer richtete. Dazu wurden ihnen elf Fragen gestellt, die sich sowohl auf die Aufgaben und die Häufigkeit der Kooperation bezogen, als auch auf den Bedarf und die Qualität dieser. Diese Umfrage zeigte, dass zwar an vielen Schulen ein Schulsozialarbeiter vertreten ist, aber die Zusammenarbeit zwischen Lehrern und Sozialarbeiter noch einige Lücken aufweist. Zudem konnte aufgezeigt werden, dass sich die Lehrer mehr Unterstützung seitens der Schulsozialarbeit wünschen, diese aber trotzdem nur geringfügig in ihre Arbeitsabläufe involvieren. Auf dieser Grundlage ist es empfehlenswert, sich mit den Gründen zu beschäftigen, die eine Zusammenarbeit verhindern und wie diese Hindernisse von beiden Berufsgruppen überwunden werden können.

Kinder und Jugendliche stehen heute zwar wie noch nie zuvor im Blickpunkt des gesellschaftlichen Interesses und stellen eine beliebte Zielgruppe für Werbung und Industrie dar, doch sie selbst, ihre Persönlichkeit und Bedürfnisse, leiden oft an Vernachlässigung, Einsamkeit und Orientierungslosigkeit. Dadurch können einige Defizite auftreten, die im schulischen Verhalten besonders deutlich werden und durch kompetente Jugendhilfe, z.B. in Form von Schulsozialarbeit, kompensiert werden müssen.
