Book excerpt: FROM THE AUTHOR OF NUMEROUS BOOKS, INCLUDING SUPERNATURAL ACCESS AND HELL'S TOXIC TRIO God's miracles are often uncommon, unordinary, and unusual. This book will challenge you to let God interrupt the mundane in your life so that you can experience unusual blessings, favor, and more. God wants to do extraordinary things in and through His people. He performed uncommon miracles throughout the Book of Acts, revealing a rare dimension of His power that brought miraculous results, and He wants to do the same today. In this sixty-day journey Ryan LeStrange challenges readers to let God interrupt the mundane patterns in their lives and reveal unusual measures of His power. With revelation from Scripture and confessions to declare each day, this book will help readers prepare their hearts for unusual miracles to become a reality in their lives--unusual blessings, unusual favor, unusual breakthroughs, and more. God's people were not born to live mediocre lives void of the power of God. They were designed to do kingdom exploits. This book is a tool that will help readers break the hold of the average, embrace God's supernatural possibilities, and walk in extraordinary power. Book excerpt: "This highly theoretical work of ethnomusicology is a reclamation of Indigenous ceremonial and artistic practice arguing that the inclusion and appropriation of Indigenous performers in classical music traditions only enriches the settler nation-state. Robinson gives shape to Western musical and aesthetic practices as well as to Indigenous listening practices in order to eschew traditional (Western) forms of musical analysis. Instead, the work argues that new modes of listening and studying reception, emerging out of critical Indigenous studies, are essential to understanding Indigenous musical expression in ways that do not reify the power of the settler state"--

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Hunger is one of the governing metaphors for literature in the late nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Beginning in the mid-nineteenth century, writers and critics repeatedly describe writing as a process of starvation, as in the familiar type of the starving artist, and high art as the rejection of 'culinary' pleasures. The Art of Hunger: Aesthetic Autonomy and the Afterlives of Modernism argues that this metaphor offers a way of describing the contradictions of aesthetic autonomy in modernist literature and its late-twentieth-century heirs. This book traces the emergence of a tradition of writing it calls the 'art of hunger', from the origins of modernism to the end of the twentieth century. It focuses particularly on three authors who redeploy the modernist art of hunger as a response to key moments in the history of modernist aesthetic autonomy's delegitimization: Samuel Beckett in post-Vichy France; Paul Auster in post-1968 Paris and New York; and J. M. Coetzee in late apartheid South Africa. Combining historical analysis of these literary fields with close readings of individual texts, and drawing extensively on new archival research, this book offers a counter-history of modernism's post-World War II reception and a new theory of aesthetic autonomy as a practice of unfreedom.

Book excerpt: Started in 1958, Sanathana Sarathi is a monthly magazine devoted to Sathya (Truth), Dharma (Righteousness), Shanti (Peace) and Prema (Love) - the four cardinal principles of Bhagawan Baba's philosophy. It is published from Prasanthi Nilayam (the Abode of Highest Peace) and acts as a mouthpiece of Baba's Ashram as it speaks of the important events that take place in His sacred Abode, besides carrying Divine Messages conveyed through Divine Discourses of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba. The word meaning of Sanathana Sarathi is the 'Eternal Charioteer'. It signifies the presence of the Lord in every being as the atma guiding their lives like a charioteer. It implies that he who places his life, the body being likened to a chariot, in an attitude of surrender in the hands of the Lord, will be taken care of by the Lord even as a charioteer would take the occupant of his chariot safely to its destination. The magazine is an instrument to disseminate spiritual knowledge for the moral, physical and mental uplift of humanity without any discrimination as the subject matter discussed therein is always of common interest and of universal appeal. The fifteen Vahinis - streams of sacredness - known as the Vahini Series comprising annotation and interpretation of the Upanishads and other scriptures, Itihasas like the Ramayana, the Bhagavatha and the Mahabharata, and authentic explanations on Dhyana, Dharma, Prema, etc., have been serially published in this magazine as and when they emanated from the Divine pen of Bhagawan Baba. This magazine is published in almost all Indian languages, English and Telugu from Prasanthi Nilayam and others from respective regions. Every year Sanathana Sarathi comes out with a special issue in November commemorating the Divine Birthday. The English and Telugu magazines are posted on the 10th and 23rd respectively, of every month, from Prasanthi Nilayam. This magazine has wide, ever increasing circulation in India as well as abroad, as the study of it brings the reader closer to the philosophy of the Avatar in simple understandable language THUS SPAKE SAI... Discoursing during the launch of Sanathana Sarathi... From this day, our Sanathana Sarathi will lead to victory the cohorts of truth - the Vedas, the Sastras and similar scriptures of all faiths, against the forces of the ego such as injustice, falsehood, immorality and cruelty. This is the reason why it has emerged. This Sarathi will fight in order to establish world prosperity. It is bound to sound the paean of triumph when universal Ananda is achieved.

Book excerpt: Despite moral pressure and exhaustion, Sentsov's records display his diligence and objective eye as filmmaker and activist. A remarkable two-book volume: Diary of A Hunger Striker, the first-hand account of celebrated Ukrainian filmmaker Oleh Sentsov, jailed unfairly as a political prisoner, during his 145-day-long hunger strike in a Russian prison; and Four and a Half Steps, his newest collection of short stories. Sentsov’s prison diary begins three days into his indefinite hunger strike, as he calls for the release of all political prisoners in Russia. Frank, sharp, and detailed, the diary recounts day after day of observations and thoughts about his daily life, from interactions with guards, police officers good and bad, to his thoughts on fellow writers and the world outside his cell.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Now in its third edition, Beyond a Shadow of a Diet is the most comprehensive book available for professionals working with clients who struggle with binge and emotional eating, chronic dieting, and body image. Divided into three sections—The Problem, The Treatment, and The Solution—this book is filled with compelling clinical examples, visualizations, and exercises that professionals can use to deepen their knowledge and skills as they help clients find freedom from preoccupation with food and weight. New research on diet failure, health, weight, and weight stigma makes a case for why clinicians must reflect on their own attitudes and biases to understand how a weight loss focus can harm clients. In addition to addressing the symptoms, dynamics, and treatment of eating problems, this book presents a holistic framework that includes topics such as cultural, ethical, and social justice issues, the role of self-compassion, and promoting physical and emotional well-being for people of all shapes and sizes. Drawing from the attuned eating and weight inclusive frameworks, this book serves as an essential resource for both new clinicians and those interested in shifting their clinical approach. Trauma-informed and filled with compelling client stories and step-by-step strategies, Beyond a Shadow of a Diet offers professionals and their clients a positive, evidence-based model for making peace with food, their bodies, and themselves.
