Book excerpt: As Christians we are meant to experience joy and peace, but many times our lives and hearts are cluttered with the remnants of unprocessed emotions that just feel too messy or big for us to deal with them. So we set them aside. Not really wanting to look at them, but feeling their weight everyday... or if not everyday, on the bad days. And we ache for more. For better. For what we know Jesus promised. "These things I have spoken to you so that My joy may be in you, and that your joy may be made full." John 15:11 This journaling guide walks you through Scriptures, devotional thoughts, and questions to help you move into the joy and peace Christ came to give you.

Book Synopsis Living the Soul Dolce Vita by : Leanna Burns
Download or read book Living the Soul Dolce Vita written by Leanna Burns and published by Summerland Publishing. This book was released on 2007-03 with total page 206 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Leanna Burns, who writes about the soul and the ?letting go? process, is at it again. Only this time, it is not about letting go of the weight (?From A to Z: Feed Your Soul and Lose the Weight?), nor is it about letting go of society's mythical standard of physical beauty (?Soul Beautiful, Naturally). ?Living the Soul Dolce Vita? is about letting go of your ?stuff? -- the stuff that gets in the way of soul communication, acknowledgment and recognition. This book is not just about having a garage sale and releasing a few household items that no longer interest you. It is about getting interested in your soul, and making room for it in your crowded and busy life. When your soul defines who you are versus the trappings of your life doing so, then you will be truly ?Living the Soul Dolce Vita.?
Download or read book Candy Skulls written by McKenzie MacLaine and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2009-09 with total page 302 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nobody knew him. But everyone feared him. From asphyxiation to yellow fever, Death had been the chauffer of souls for much longer than he cared to remember. Whether they were destined to Heaven or Hell, the cynical reaper had been forever responsible for the delivery of the deceased spirits. After spending all of eternity doing the same thing day in and day out with archangel Michael as his partner, Death was growing rather weary of his monotonous job. But when a chance encounter with the gifted child, Anya Smith, stirred up trouble in his routine, Death would soon find himself wishing for that comfortable monotony... Condemned by God to live a mortal life in order to see why good people had to die, Death must quickly learn to adjust to his newly borrowed body, once belonging to a homeless man by the name of Noah Quinn. Having no experience with human emotion much less mankind's general fragility, Death must adopt Noah's alias and dodge the advances of threats both physical and supernatural, all the while trying to keep Anya safe under his care. Betrayal, insanity, and pain both physical and mental are just the start of Noah's experiences with the living. Life among people surely holds many lessons, but Noah will soon learn more about the living than he bargained for: namely that it was a hell of a lot easier being dead than alive. Candy Skulls provides a unique look into the mechanics of human emotion. The casual blend of dark humor and suspense creates a compelling story about the successes and flaws of mankinds' relationship with the world, and an individual's relationship with himself.

Book Synopsis A Plea for Embodied Spirituality by : Fraser Watts
Download or read book A Plea for Embodied Spirituality written by Fraser Watts and published by SCM Press. This book was released on 2021-04-30 with total page 174 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The body is crucial to religious life, but there has been little practical attention to how to make a helpful reality of this fact. Strong forms of philosophical dualism have been widely abandoned by post-war theologians in favour of a more integrated view of human nature, but guidance on the role of the body in Christian spirituality remains fragmentary. Focusing particularly on drawing out practical implications for religious life and ministry, this book will survey the many ways in which the body plays an important role in religions and spiritual life, drawing on scientific research, theology and philosophy.

Book Synopsis Kapporos Then and Now: Toward a More Compassionate Tradition by : Yonassan Gershom
Download or read book Kapporos Then and Now: Toward a More Compassionate Tradition written by Yonassan Gershom and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2015-06-03 with total page 218 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Every year, right before Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, there is a cultural war in certain Jewish neighborhoods over a ceremony called Kapporos, in which a chicken is slaughtered just before the holy day. The animal rights people show up claiming, "Meat is murder!" while the Orthodox and Hasidic Jews who practice this ceremony accuse the activists of antisemitism and violating their freedom of religion. Epithets fly and confrontations occur across the barricades, but nobody is really listening to each other. Rabbi Gershom seeks to build a bridge of understanding between these two warring camps. On the one hand, he opposes using live chickens as Kapporos, and, like many other religious Jews before him, advocates giving money to charity instead. But on the other hand, he is himself a Hasid who understands and believes in the kabbalistic principle of ""raising holy sparks"" so central to the ceremony. In fact, he says, it is that very mysticism that has led him not to use chickens for the ritual.
