Book Synopsis Electrochemical Detectors by : T. Ryan
Download or read book Electrochemical Detectors written by T. Ryan and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 171 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The widely perceived utility of electrochemical detectors in High Performance Liquid Chromatography has focussed attention on a number of disparate aspects of electrochemistry related to their successful design and application. The papers in this volume deal with an extraordinarily wide range of topics but all have the common focus of electrochemical detection as a practical chromatographic tool. While it is certainly not essential to be familiar with the theoretical principles in order to utilize it successfully, the determined user of electrochemical detector will seek to have an understanding of the background. Some of the following pages will provide an excellent grounding as well as pointing the potential user in the direction of proven and possible applications in a variety of fields. The meeting, of which this book is a record, was the fifth event in the biannual Anglo-Czech Symposia in Electrochemistry. The organ izers of that meeting were extremely pleased to welcome a select group of scientists from the J Heyrovsky Institute of Physical Chemistry and Electrochemistry to the meeting, thus continuing a tradition of cooperation and friendship going back over ten years. The contributions of the visitors to the scientific content of the meeting were enthusiastically received and their participation in the informal and social activities can only have furthered the cause of cooperation and good will between our two countries.

Book Synopsis Electrochemical Reactions and Mechanisms in Organic Chemistry by : J. Grimshaw
Download or read book Electrochemical Reactions and Mechanisms in Organic Chemistry written by J. Grimshaw and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2000-12-01 with total page 415 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Electrochemical reactions make significant contributions to organic synthesis either in the laboratory or on an industrial scale. These methods have the potential for developing more "green" chemical synthesis. Over recent years, modern investigations have clarified the mechanisms of important organic electrochemical reactions. Progress has also been made in controlling the reactivity of intermediates through either radical or ionic pathways. Now is the time to gather all the electrochemical work into a textbook. As an essential addition to the armory of synthetic organic chemists, electrochemical reactions give results not easily achieved by many other chemical routes. This book presents a logical development of reactions and mechanisms in organic electrochemistry at a level suited to research scientists and final year graduate students. It forms an excellent starting point from which synthetic organic chemists, in both academia and industry, can appreciate uses for electrochemical methods in their own work. The book is also a reference guide to the literature.

Book Synopsis Lectures on Electrochemical Corrosion by : Marcel Pourbaix
Download or read book Lectures on Electrochemical Corrosion written by Marcel Pourbaix and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 352 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Workers in the field of corrosion and their students are most fortunate that a happy set of circumstances brought Dr. Marcel Pourbaix into their field in 1949. First, he was invited, while in the USA, to demonstrate at a two week visit to the National Bureau of Standards the usefulness of his electro chemical concepts to the study of corrosion. Secondly, also around the same time, Prof. H. H. Uhlig made a speech before the United Nations which pointed out the tremendous economic consequences of corrosion. Because of these circumstances, Dr. Pourbaix has reminisced, he chose to devote most of his efforts to corrosion rather than to electrolysis, batteries, geology, or any of the other fields where, one might add, they were equally valuable. This decision resulted in his establishing CEBELCOR (Centre BeIge d'Etude de la Corrosion) and in his development of a course at the Free University of Brussels entitled "Lectures on Electrochemical Corrosion." This book is the collection of these lectures translated into English.
