La progression du livre est animée de très nombreux cas cliniques qui donnent à cette thématique une dimension clinique et concrète indispensable, abordant des situations de soins diverses à l'hôpital, en institution de long séjour, à domicile ou encore en milieu scolaire. Un dernier chapitre met enfin l'accent sur les valeurs communes des membres de l'équipe soignante en soulignant l'interdisciplinarité à l'oeuvre dans la prise en charge de la personne malade.
