Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This textbook details the nursing care of babies with life limiting conditions and sets the context within the philosophy of internationally collaborative neonatal palliative care emphasising emotional and practical support for their families. Currently, increasing interest from nursing and medical fields regarding palliative care for babies in the antenatal and neonatal period is evident. This innovative and unique text provides experienced nurses and student nurses alike with realistic guidance in caring for babies with palliative care needs, alongside the crucial support for their families and identifies important strategies for professional self care. Nursing experts in this field collaborated to develop a reference book which supports holistic and integrated clinical practice. Parents’ experiences of what they consider helpful or not so helpful are interwoven throughout the chapter. There is currently no other textbook which offers the above information and guidance specifically for nurses and allied health professionals. As such this book will appeal to all nurses and health professionals working within the neonatal palliative care specialty in a global context.
Book Synopsis Premature Birth by : Catherine Vanier
Download or read book Premature Birth written by Catherine Vanier and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2018-05-15 with total page 218 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: If advances in medical technology now allow babies to be born earlier and survive premature birth, what of the psychical impact of this emergence into the world? What consequences can premature birth have for babies, for their families, and for the medical staff around them? In this exciting and inspiring study, the author describes the work she has undertaken over the past twenty years in a neonatal intensive care unit. She shows how a sensitivity to the subjective experience of all concerned can have dramatic effects, and how a psychoanalytic ear can allow us to understand both the problems and the progress of prematurely born babies in a new way.

Book Synopsis Soins palliatifs chez le nouveau-né by : Pierre Bétrémieux
Download or read book Soins palliatifs chez le nouveau-né written by Pierre Bétrémieux and published by Springer. This book was released on 2010-10-29 with total page 301 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Synopsis Decades of Disparity by : Human Rights Watch (Organization)
Download or read book Decades of Disparity written by Human Rights Watch (Organization) and published by Human Rights Watch. This book was released on 2009 with total page 56 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Using national drug arrest data from 1980 to 2007, this report illuminates the persistence and extent of racial disparities in the so-called?war on drugs? in the United States. Although blacks and whites engage in drug offenses at roughly comparable rates, blacks have been consistently arrested for drug offenses at rates that are from 2.8 to 5.5 times higher nationwide than white drug arrest rates. In addition, this report reveals that among individual states, black drug arrest rates in a single year, 2006, ranged from 2 to 11.3 times higher than white rates. Finally, the report shows that since 1980, the preponderance of drug arrests have been for possession, not sales. Millions of Americans have acquired a criminal record because they engaged in the minor non-violent offense of drug possession. Human Rights Watch calls on the United States to revise its drug control policies to reduce reliance on criminal prosecution and address these troubling racial disparities.
