Book Synopsis Nuclear Physics by : National Research Council
Download or read book Nuclear Physics written by National Research Council and published by National Academies Press. This book was released on 1999-03-31 with total page 222 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Dramatic progress has been made in all branches of physics since the National Research Council's 1986 decadal survey of the field. The Physics in a New Era series explores these advances and looks ahead to future goals. The series includes assessments of the major subfields and reports on several smaller subfields, and preparation has begun on an overview volume on the unity of physics, its relationships to other fields, and its contributions to national needs. Nuclear Physics is the latest volume of the series. The book describes current activity in understanding nuclear structure and symmetries, the behavior of matter at extreme densities, the role of nuclear physics in astrophysics and cosmology, and the instrumentation and facilities used by the field. It makes recommendations on the resources needed for experimental and theoretical advances in the coming decade.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The principal goals of the study were to articulate the scientific rationale and objectives of the field and then to take a long-term strategic view of U.S. nuclear science in the global context for setting future directions for the field. Nuclear Physics: Exploring the Heart of Matter provides a long-term assessment of an outlook for nuclear physics. The first phase of the report articulates the scientific rationale and objectives of the field, while the second phase provides a global context for the field and its long-term priorities and proposes a framework for progress through 2020 and beyond. In the second phase of the study, also developing a framework for progress through 2020 and beyond, the committee carefully considered the balance between universities and government facilities in terms of research and workforce development and the role of international collaborations in leveraging future investments. Nuclear physics today is a diverse field, encompassing research that spans dimensions from a tiny fraction of the volume of the individual particles (neutrons and protons) in the atomic nucleus to the enormous scales of astrophysical objects in the cosmos. Nuclear Physics: Exploring the Heart of Matter explains the research objectives, which include the desire not only to better understand the nature of matter interacting at the nuclear level, but also to describe the state of the universe that existed at the big bang. This report explains how the universe can now be studied in the most advanced colliding-beam accelerators, where strong forces are the dominant interactions, as well as the nature of neutrinos.

Book Synopsis Society: Progress and Force by : Олег Арин / Алекс Бэттлер
Download or read book Society: Progress and Force written by Олег Арин / Алекс Бэттлер and published by SCHOLARICA. This book was released on with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As a sequel to Dialectics of Force: Ontόbia, this book is dedicated to the progress and force of society—topics that at first glance may seem banal, since mountains of literature are written on this subject. However, after carefully setting out the views on the progress and power of all outstanding thinkers of the past and present, the author has formulated the criteria of progress based on entirely different scientific paradigms. Moreover, Battler dared to formulate two Principles of Social Development, similar in fundamentality to the First and Second Laws of thermodynamics. The result was a book with very complex content. This book is intended for teachers and students of philosophical and social sciences, as well as for all those who are interested in the problems of man and humanity.
Book Synopsis Advances In Nuclear Physics - Proceedings Of The International Symposium by : Dorin Poenaru
Download or read book Advances In Nuclear Physics - Proceedings Of The International Symposium written by Dorin Poenaru and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2000-06-27 with total page 450 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The interest in understanding the physical world that we live in, the origin of its formation and evolution, is reflected in the world-wide activities in Europe, the USA and Japan to set up powerful research facilities providing beams of radioactive nuclei of various kinds, and beams of extremely large energies. At the same time, complex and large detector arrays with improved technical capabilities are built either around these facilities or independently (dedicated to cosmic rays). Recently, spectacular progress has been made in superheavy nuclei, cold binary and ternary fission, nuclear shell structure and nuclear astrophysics, to mention only a few directions. The energy spectrum of cosmic rays exceeds the upper limits provided by artificial accelerators. An international collaboration has committed itself to the installation of an extremely large area detector array, AUGER, in order to study the highest particle energies in the Universe.

This book was released on 1971 with total page 704 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This Index contains literature references to -- 10,000 research papers on physical properties of metals and alloys. The Index contains all NMR Knight shift papers and soft x-ray emission papers. It also contains many soft x-ray absorption papers and a number of papers on generally related topics such as susceptibilities, specific heats, hyperfine fields, and band structures. The papers are annotated in depth and the coded information put onto a magnetic tape. The Permuted Materials Index was created from this tape, listing alloys under each of their constituent components (i.e., CuNi appears under CuNi and under NiCu alloys).
