This book was released on 2020-10-21 with total page 194 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Recent studies of deformation mechanisms of metals and alloys pioneer the better investigation of the friction and wear behavior of materials with well-defined initial microstructures. Within this scope, in this work, the effect of sub-surface deformations on the resulting friction and wear behavior has been searched by means of a systematic experimental study on Au-Ni metallic multilayer model alloy system.
Book Synopsis Investigation of Fretting Wear of Cladding Materials in Liquid Lead by : Mattia Del Giacco
Download or read book Investigation of Fretting Wear of Cladding Materials in Liquid Lead written by Mattia Del Giacco and published by KIT Scientific Publishing. This book was released on 2014-07-31 with total page 270 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: One promising concept for future nuclear reactors uses liquid metals like Pb as reactor coolant. In this work, fretting of fuel clad materials is investigated in Pb environment at relevant operating conditions. A novel test apparatus is presented that allows fretting tests in liquid lead with high accuracy and reproducibility also during long term tests. Tolerable operating conditions concerning fretting wear by evaluating the specific wear coefficient and the concept of fretting maps are given.

Book Synopsis Microstructure and Texture in Steels by : Arunansu Haldar
Download or read book Microstructure and Texture in Steels written by Arunansu Haldar and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2009-09-03 with total page 484 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Microstructure and Texture in Steels and Other Materials comprises a collection of articles pertaining to experimental and theoretical aspects of the evolution of crystallographic texture and microstructure during processing of steels and some other materials. Among the topics covered is the processing-microstructure-texture-property relationship in various kinds of steels, including the latest grade. Special emphasis has been given to introduce recent advances in the characterization of texture and microstructure, as well as modeling. The papers included are written by well-known experts from academia and industrial R and D, which will provide the reader with state-of-the-art, in-depth knowledge of the subject. With these attributes, Microstructure and Texture in Steels and Other Materials is expected to serve the cause of creating awareness of current developments in microstructural science and materials engineering among academic and R and D personnel working in the field.
Book Synopsis Steels by : Robert William Kerr Honeycombe
Download or read book Steels written by Robert William Kerr Honeycombe and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 1996-02-12 with total page 340 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The properties of steels depend critically on their microstructure. By examining the mechanical properties of steels in conjunction with microstructure, the first edition gave a clear description of the development and behavior of these materials - the very foundation of their widespread use. This new edition more explicitly links this theory with applications while retaining the style and purpose of its predecessor.
Book Synopsis Wear Particles: From the Cradle to the Grave by : D. Dowson
Download or read book Wear Particles: From the Cradle to the Grave written by D. Dowson and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 1992-08-04 with total page 575 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Leeds-Lyon symposia have well established themselves in the tribological calendar. Industrial progress requires a better understanding of interfacial phenomena than now exists and it is exciting to see that the topics addressed in these proceedings volumes are at the forefront of progress in tribological research. These proceedings contain 61 papers written by authors from all over the world, covering the entire spectrum of wear particles. Of particular interest is the detailed consideration of a wide range of particle formations and detachments, as well as a close look at the physics and chemistry of the wear of mechanisms, together with other in-depth state-of-the-art analytical contributions.
