Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is just a part of one's life story wrapped up in an array of art, walking a particular path on a unique journey. This is The Story of Me and Bobby McGee. A life together, calling it our own, was filled with love, triumph, pain, and sorrow. At anytime and anywhere, there are others who are lost, not knowing who they are or where to go. We were in that mix. Hope in Jesus Christ is always the answer. Let me assure you of that. And, along with that, it is really the only answer. This is just a glimpse and small inside look of how two lives intertwined with one another and how faith remained a constant in getting them through the rough roads. Life stories and testimonies are meant to be shared, along with the blessings, gifts, and talents that the Lord has given each and every one of us. As believers in Christ Jesus, we are to use them to glorify God and spread His Word. My hope is for every one of us to know the love, wisdom, and forgiveness of God and His Word, which is timeless. He is the same yesterday, today, and always. He doesn't change.

Check out biblical adventures of these people and the character qualities they exemplify -- real people who, in wild Bible stories, did really wild things for God: - Kid King . . . Josiah (influencing others) - Wise Guy, the King of Good Decisions . . . Solomon (wise decisions) - Little Timmy, the Teenage Teacher . . . Timothy (living for God while still a young teen) - Dave's posse . . . David's mighty men (doing outrageous things for God) - Whiney Bro, the Fair-Share Demander . . . the Prodigal Son's brother (demanding your rights) - Moe's Mom, the Cruise Director . . . Moses' mother (trusting God in difficult situations) - Pete, the Second-Chance Wonder . . . Peter (God's forgiveness) - Samantha, the Water Woman . . . the woman at the well (racism). You won't believe all the off-the-wall discussion starters, video ideas, scripts, games with a point -- and, of course, Bible passages you can use to springboard junior highers into topics that don't just mean the world to them, but are the world. Friendship. Embarrassment. Rights. Racism. Each lesson reaches back into history to underline for junior highers the reality of Old and New Testament people and principles -- and then reaches forward, challenging your students to make better decisions, better friends, better lives. Each lesson thoroughly preps you to teach it, including convenient reminders of what materials you need and when you need them. And in each lesson students dig into Wild Pages that bring scriptural principles right into the kids' own experience. 12 lessons

Book excerpt: Bobby Simpson’s physiotherapy conference is cancelled at the last minute, so he’s forced to travel home earlier than expected. Being blind, Bobby requires passenger assistance at Leeds railway station in order to change trains. When this doesn’t arrive, Bobby sets off on his own, only to be told by someone on another platform that he’s about to fall onto the tracks. Phil “Beasty” Beeston is about to catch his train when he sees a blind man near the edge of the platform opposite. He calls out, tells the man to stay where he is, and goes to the man’s rescue. They both miss their train and Phil suggests going for a pint till the next train is due. As they drink, they talk. Phil tells Bobby he’s a builder and plays amateur rugby league for the Longton Lightning. He also confesses he’s ugly, which partially explains his nickname. Bobby is more concerned with what a person is like on the inside, and what he’s learning about Phil, he likes. Phil’s work-acquired muscles don’t harm either. As he enjoys helping people, Bobby agrees to become the Lightning’s unpaid physio. The job has the added benefit of being able to interact with the hot if emotionally damaged Phil, both professionally and personally. Phil’s life starts to turn around. He gets a promotion at work and his rugby playing improves. He puts this down to Bobby’s confidence in him. If only Phil had confidence in himself. Can Phil’s and Bobby’s relationship continue to grow, or will it all come crashing down when Phil’s ugly past is revealed?

Such a manual would require a thousand-page text written by an expert therapist. Rather, it tells the story of a fathers experience with neurofeedback as he witnesses this new science being applied day by day to pull his son back inch by inch from the world of autism. It is the story of a father who refused to accept all those grim prognoses from pediatricians, child psychologists, and child psychiatrists that autism was a genetic affliction with no cure. And lastly, it is a book of hope for those parents who are not yet prepared to surrender their children to the scourge of autism without a fight.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Acclaimed as a "gifted, courageous writer"(The New York Times), Chris Adrian brings all his extraordinary talents to bear in The Great Night—a brilliant and mesmerizing retelling of Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream." On Midsummer Eve 2008, three people, each on the run from a failed relationship, become trapped in San Francisco's Buena Vista Park, the secret home of Titania, Oberon, and their court. On this night, something awful is happening in the faerie kingdom: in a fit of sadness over the end of her marriage, which broke up in the wake of the death of her adopted son, Titania has set loose an ancient menace, and the chaos that ensues will threaten the lives of immortals and mortals alike. Selected by The New Yorker as one the best young writers in America, Adrian has created a singularly playful, heartbreaking, and humorous novel—a story that charts the borders between reality and dreams, love and magic, and mortality and immortality.

Book excerpt: Applause Theatre & Cinema Books is proud to announce the publication of the first collected anthology of gay and lesbian plays from the entire span of the twentieth century sure to find wide acceptance by general readers and to be studied on campuses around the world. Among the ten plays three are completely out of print. Included are ÊThe God of VenegeanceÊ (1918) by Sholom Ash the first play to introduce lesbian characters to an English-language audience; Lillian Hellman's classic ÊThe Children's HourÊ (1933) initially banned in London and passed over for the Pulitzer Prize because of its subject matter; and ÊOscar WildeÊ (1938) by Leslie and Sewell Stokes a major award-winning success that starred Robert Morley. More recent plays include Mart Crowley's ÊThe Boys in the BandÊ (1968) the first hit out gay play that was the most realistic and groundbreaking portrayal of gays on stage up to that time; Martin Sherman's ÊBentÊ (1978) which daringly focused on the love between two Nazi concentration camp inmates and starred Richard Gere; William Hoffman's ÊAs IsÊ (1985) which was one of the first plays to deal with the AIDS crisis and earned three Tony Award nominations; and Terrence McNally's ÊLove! Valour! Compassion!Ê (1994) which starred Nathan Lane and won the Tony Award for Best Play.ÞThe other plays are Edouard Bourdet's ÊThe CaptiveÊ (1926) Ruth and Augustus Goetz's ÊThe ImmoralistÊ (1954) and Frank Marcus' ÊThe Killing of Sister GeorgeÊ (1967). ÊForbidden ActsÊ includes a broad range of theatrical genres: drama tragedy romance comedy and farce. They remain vibrant and relevant today as a testament of art's ability to persevere in the face of oppression.
