Book excerpt: Terrie Lopez is a nurse supervisor in a major downtown hospital known for outstanding patient care. When Jeff Landrom, an attractive young man involved in a near-fatal car crash arrives in her ward as a comatose patient, she is drawn to him and becomes very protective of him. When she finds out that the car crash that caused his injuries may not have been an accident, she becomes even more protective of her patient and conspires with Detective Mira, the police detective investigating the case, to determine who is responsible for the crime. Meanwhile, Jeffs parents, Charles and Helen, and his wife, Judy, deal with their grief at what happened to Jeff while consoling one another. The story deals with the relationships between these characters while Jeff strives to unravel the mystery behind his out-of-body experiences while in a coma. This all leads up to an explosive and totally mind-blowing twist in the end, making this book a must-read.

I was ready to fall from the top of my empire and I didn't give a damn. But then she showed up; falling back into my life and into my bed. My sweetheart. I'm not the type of man to make promises. But long ago I made one to her, and then broke it, pushing her as far away as I could. She's too good for this shit and I couldn't risk her. I should let her walk away again; I'm a bad man, but I'm too selfish. This time, I'm keeping her.

Book excerpt: The Teachings and Stories of Jesus, the God who became human was the focus of the four Christian gospels; and together with some of the Apostolic writings they came to be known as the New Testament. They were originally handwritten on scrolls.Wonderfully, the invention of the printing press and modern technology enabled millions and millions of the common folks to hear or, read for themselves the message of the God who became the humblest human being, who ennobled human lives. The Bible Societies scrupulously translated the sacred texts into diverse vernacular versions to be spread widely around the world. One such rendering was the Contemporary English Version 1995. The present populist revisionist has further compressed the gospels into a format with one view and one view alone - to make available in a Day Minder size, to be easily carried for reading and meditating during coffee/lunch breaks.God has become human. The Sanskrit word is Avtar and the Chinese word is Bodhi satva. Jesus was truly God who came to earth in frail human form to help human beings attain genuine peace and to be readied for the presence of the heavenly realm. No other Western world backgrounders to Yesu Avtar qualify for the Divine breaking into the phenomenal sphere. God is among us and with us in all our joy, happiness, fears and worries. Yesu Avtar provides comfort and strength for the journey through life.Get yourselves copies of this pocket book size rendering of Yesu Avtar to friends and relatives at home and abroad, for all auspicious occasions. You will notice change in their lives for the better. Jesus is God's presence among us. Let his message in an informal format impregnate the hearts and minds of you and others. To Yesu Avtar all praise!

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Who is the Holy Spirit? What is the Holy Spirit? The answers to these questions were so obvious in the first centuries of Christian history, that the New Testament and the earliest Christian writers did not feel the need to deliberately address the identity of the Spirit. The more stringent question was this: what does the Spirit do in the Hebrew Scriptures, in the life of Jesus, in the community of disciples, in the Church, and in the world? These same questions, however, did not have the same obvious answers to subsequent generations. Writing in the fourth century, Gregory of Nazianzus observed a slow progress of better understanding the identity and mission of the Holy Spirit throughout the centuries; his opponents still referred to the Spirit as a “strange,” “unscriptural,” and “interpolated” God (Or. 31). One would expect that today, centuries later, pneumatology would be exponentially further developed than in the patristic era. And yet, contemporary theology only rarely asks who the Spirit is and what the Spirit does. That is where the present volume attempts to bring a contribution, by addressing early Pneumatologies reflected in the Scriptures and the age of the martyrs, historical developments in patristic literature and spiritual writings, and contemporary pneumatological themes, as they relate to ecumenism, ecology, science, ecclesiology, and missions. The present volume gathers essays authored by eleven world-renowned theologians. Each contribution originated as a public lecture addressed to theologians and an educated general audience, followed by a private colloquium in which the lecturers conferred with scholars who are experts in the field. Thus, the present volume offers a multifaceted approach to Pneumatology, in an ecumenical spirit.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Always Reforming highlights the fact that in the modern era the notion of heresy has fallen apart. Every church has been declared heretical at some time or other by another church, and it is not the role of the historian to decide who is right or wrong on doctrinal issues. Christians have adapted to sweeping social changes, including scientific discoveries and changing world-views." "This volume attempts to uncover some of the hidden dynamics of faith within the many ways in which other Christians have tried to live out the gospel in an uncertain world. It also demonstrates that all human institutions, including churches, change over time."--Jacket.

Book excerpt: This companion volume to T. F. Torrance's Incarnation: The Person and Life of Christ presents the material on the work of Christ, centered in the atonement, given originally in his lectures delivered to his students in Christian Dogmatics on Christology at New college, Edinburgh, from 1952-1978. Like the first volume, the original lecture material has been expertly edited by Robert Walker, complete with cross-reference to Torrance's other works. Readers will find this the most readable work of Torrance and, together with Incarnation, the closest to a systematic theology we have from this eminent theologian.
