This book was released on 1963 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report is divided into three chapters. The first chapter deals with the derivation of the confidence intervals associated with the ANOVA and MANOVA of Generalized Balanced Incomplete Block (GBIB) designs with two groups. In the second chapter, the confidence intervals associated with the Simultaneous Analysis of Variance (SANOVA) and Simultaneous Multivariate Analysis of Variance (SMANOVA) tests are dervied. Also, it is shown that the lengths of the confidence intervals associated with the SANOVA and SMANOVA tests are shorter than the lengths of the corresponding confidence intervals associated with the ANOVA and MANOVA tests. The efficiences of GBIB designs associated with the ANOVA, MANOVA, SANOVA and SMANOVA tests are discussed in the final chapter.

Book Synopsis Analysis and Design of Certain Quantitative Multiresponse Experiments by : S. N. Roy
Download or read book Analysis and Design of Certain Quantitative Multiresponse Experiments written by S. N. Roy and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2014-05-15 with total page 316 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Analysis and Design of Certain Quantitative Multiresponse Experiments highlights (i) the need for multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA); (ii) the need for multivariate design for multiresponse experiments; and (iii) the actual procedures and interpretation that have been used for this purpose by the authors. The development in this monograph is such that the theory and methods of uniresponse analysis and design stay very close to classical ANOVA. The book first discusses the multivariate aspect of linear models for location type of parameters, but under a univariate design, i.e. one in which each experimental unit is measured or studied with respect to all the responses. Separate chapters cover point estimation of location parameters; testing of linear hypotheses; properties of test procedures; and confidence bounds on a set of parametric functions. Subsequent chapters discuss a graphical internal comparison method for analyzing certain kinds of multiresponse experimental data; two classes of multiresponse designs, i.e. designated hierarchical and p-block designs; and the construction of various kinds of multiresponse designs.
Book Synopsis Simultaneous Statistical Inference by : Rupert G. Jr. Miller
Download or read book Simultaneous Statistical Inference written by Rupert G. Jr. Miller and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 311 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Simultaneous Statistical Inference, which was published originally in 1966 by McGraw-Hill Book Company, went out of print in 1973. Since then, it has been available from University Microfilms International in xerox form. With this new edition Springer-Verlag has republished the original edition along with my review article on multiple comparisons from the December 1977 issue of the Journal of the American Statistical Association. This review article covered developments in the field from 1966 through 1976. A few minor typographical errors in the original edition have been corrected in this new edition. A new table of critical points for the studentized maximum modulus is included in this second edition as an addendum. The original edition included the table by K. C. S. Pillai and K. V. Ramachandran, which was meager but the best available at the time. This edition contains the table published in Biometrika in 1971 by G. 1. Hahn and R. W. Hendrickson, which is far more comprehensive and therefore more useful. The typing was ably handled by Wanda Edminster for the review article and Karola Decleve for the changes for the second edition. My wife, Barbara, again cheerfully assisted in the proofreading. Fred Leone kindly granted permission from the American Statistical Association to reproduce my review article. Also, Gerald Hahn, Richard Hendrickson, and, for Biometrika, David Cox graciously granted permission to reproduce the new table of the studentized maximum modulus. The work in preparing the review article was partially supported by NIH Grant ROI GM21215.

Book Synopsis Tables for the Studentized Largest Chi-square Distribution and Their Applications by : John Vernon Armitage
Download or read book Tables for the Studentized Largest Chi-square Distribution and Their Applications written by John Vernon Armitage and published by . This book was released on 1964 with total page 106 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Let x sub 1, ..., x sub K be K independently distributed chi-square variates with n degrees of freedom and let x sub 0 be another chi-square variate with m degrees of freedom distributed independently of the other x sub i's. Then, the distribution of u = mxmax/nx sub 0 where xmax = max (x sub 1, ..., x sub K), is known to be the studentized largest chi-square distribution. In this report, two methods are proposed to evaluate the probability integral of u. Using one of these methods, upper 10%, 5%, 2.5% and 1% points of the distribution of u are tabulated for K = 1(1)12, n = 1(1)19 and for different values of m. Various applications of these tables are also discussed. (Author).
Book Synopsis Multivariate Statistics and Probability by : C. R. Rao
Download or read book Multivariate Statistics and Probability written by C. R. Rao and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2014-05-10 with total page 582 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Multivariate Statistics and Probability: Essays in Memory of Paruchuri R. Krishnaiah is a collection of essays on multivariate statistics and probability in memory of Paruchuri R. Krishnaiah (1932-1987), who made significant contributions to the fields of multivariate statistical analysis and stochastic theory. The papers cover the main areas of multivariate statistical theory and its applications, as well as aspects of probability and stochastic analysis. Topics range from finite sampling and asymptotic results, including aspects of decision theory, Bayesian analysis, classical estimation, regression, and time-series problems. Comprised of 35 chapters, this book begins with a discussion on the joint asymptotic distribution of marginal quantiles and quantile functions in samples from a multivariate population. The reader is then introduced to kernel estimators of density function of directional data; moment conditions for valid formal edgeworth expansions; and ergodicity and central limit theorems for a class of Markov processes. Subsequent chapters focus on minimal complete classes of invariant tests for equality of normal covariance matrices and sphericity; normed likelihood as saddlepoint approximation; generalized Gaussian random fields; and smoothness properties of the conditional expectation in finitely additive white noise filtering. This monograph should be of considerable interest to researchers as well as to graduate students working in theoretical and applied statistics, multivariate analysis, and random processes.

Book Synopsis Block Designs: A Randomization Approach by : Tadeusz Calinski
Download or read book Block Designs: A Randomization Approach written by Tadeusz Calinski and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 364 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book is composed of two volumes, each consisting of five chapters. In Vol ume I, following some statistical motivation based on a randomization model, a general theory of the analysis of experiments in block designs has been de veloped. In the present Volume II, the primary aim is to present methods of that satisfy the statistical requirements described in constructing block designs Volume I, particularly those considered in Chapters 3 and 4, and also to give some catalogues of plans of the designs. Thus, the constructional aspects are of predominant interest in Volume II, with a general consideration given in Chapter 6. The main design investigations are systematized by separating the material into two contents, depending on whether the designs provide unit efficiency fac tors for some contrasts of treatment parameters (Chapter 7) or not (Chapter 8). This distinction in classifying block designs may be essential from a prac tical point of view. In general, classification of block designs, whether proper or not, is based here on efficiency balance (EB) in the sense of the new termi nology proposed in Section 4. 4 (see, in particular, Definition 4. 4. 2). Most of the attention is given to connected proper designs because of their statistical advantages as described in Volume I, particularly in Chapter 3. When all con trasts are of equal importance, either the class of (v - 1; 0; O)-EB designs, i. e.
Book Synopsis Block Designs by : Damaraju Raghavarao
Download or read book Block Designs written by Damaraju Raghavarao and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2005 with total page 224 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Combinatorial mathematicians and statisticians have made a wide range of contributions to the development of block designs, and this book brings together much of that work. The designs developed for a specific problem are used in a variety of different settings. Applications include controlled sampling, randomized response, validation and valuation studies, intercropping experiments, brand cross-effect designs, lotto and tournaments. The intra- and inter- block, nonparametric and covariance analysis are discussed for general block designs, and the concepts of connectedness, orthogonality, and all types of balances in designs are carefully summarized. Readers are also introduced to the designs currently playing a prominent role in the field: alpha designs, trend-free designs, balanced treatment-control designs, nearest neighbor designs, and nested designs. This book provides the important background results required by researchers in block designs and related areas and prepares them for more complex research on the subject.
