Download or read book Computerized Generation and Simulation of Meshing of Modified Spur and Helical Gears Manufactured by Shaving written by and published by . This book was released on 2001 with total page 30 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Modification of geometry of spur and helical gears with parallel axes and helical gears with crossed axes is proposed. The finishing process of gear generation is shaving. The purposes of modification of the gear geometry are to localize and stabilize the bearing contact, and to reduce noise and vibration. The goals mentioned above are achieved by using profile crowning and plunging the shaver by a prescribed motion during pinion generation. The pinion becomes double crowned. The gear member is generated as a conventional involute gear. A tooth contact analysis (TCA) program for simulation of meshing and contact was developed and the analysis is illustrated with TCA results for spur and helical gears.
Book Synopsis Novikov/Conformal Gearing by : Stephen P. Radzevich
Download or read book Novikov/Conformal Gearing written by Stephen P. Radzevich and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-11-14 with total page 485 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents the latest accomplishments in Novikov/conformal gearing as well as high-conformal gearing. It is focused primarily on strength calculation of gear teeth and the manufacturing of gears for Novikov/conformal and high-conformal gearing along with a brief discussion of achievements in the modern theory of gearing. The modern theory of gearing is the foundation of all optimal designs of gears, gear-sets, and transmissions of all known designs, as well as, of all those to be developed in the future. As even a small improvement in efficiency on a single gear can represent a significant cost saving, given the millions of gears used in industry every year, this volume provides the design and manufacturing engineer in invaluable resource.
Book Synopsis High-Conformal Gearing by : Stephen Radzevich
Download or read book High-Conformal Gearing written by Stephen Radzevich and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2020-07-04 with total page 540 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The new edition of High-Conformal Gearing continues to address the kinematics and the geometry of conformal (Novikov) gearing and high-conformal gearing. The book deals with gears that feature convex-to-concave contact of the tooth flanks of a gear and a mating pinion. Gears of this type are commonly referred to as conformal gearings. Novikov gearing is the most widely known example of conformal gearing. The helical gearing by Wildhaber, Bramley-Moore (otherwise known as the Vivkers, Bostock, and Bramley gearing, or just V.B.B.-gearing), are well-known designs of gearing that are loosely referred to as conformal gearing. The principal differences between conformal gearing as well as high-conformal gearing and Wildhaber helical gearing are outlined. It also shows that Wildhaber helical gearing from one side, and Novikov gearing from another side, are two completely different gear systems that cannot be combined into a common gear system. This book aids mechanical, automotive, and robotics engineers specializing in gear design with successfully transmitting a rotation. It also serves as a resource for graduate students taking advanced courses in gear design. - Discusses the kinematics and geometry of conformal and high-conformal gearing - Provides a specific set of conditions which need to be met when designing conformal and high-conformal gears - Outlines the principal differences between conformal, high-conformal and Wildhaber helical gearing

Download or read book Computerized Generation and Simulation of Meshing and Contact of New Type of Novikov-Wildhaber Helical Gears written by and published by . This book was released on 2000 with total page 58 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this report, we propose a new geometry for low-noise, increased-strength helical gears of the Novikov- Wildhaber type. Contact stresses are reduced as a result of their convex-concave gear tooth surfaces. The gear tooth surfaces are crowned in the profile direction to localize bearing contact and in the longitudinal direction to obtain a parabolic function of transmission errors. Such a function results in the reduction of noise and vibrations. Methods for the generation of the proposed gear tooth surfaces by grinding and hobbing are considered, and a tooth contact analysis (TCA) computer program to simulate meshing and contact is applied. The report also investigates the influence of misalignment on transmission errors and shift of bearing contact. Numerical examples to illustrate the developed approaches are proposed.

Book Synopsis Numerical Techniques for Engineering Analysis and Design by : G.N. Pande
Download or read book Numerical Techniques for Engineering Analysis and Design written by G.N. Pande and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 718 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Numerical methods and related computer based algorithms form the logical solution for. many complex problems encountered in science and engineering. Although numerical techniques are now well established, they have continued to expand and diversify, particularly in the fields of engineering analysis and design. Various engineering departments in the University College of Swansea, in particular, Civil, Chemical, Electrical and Computer Science, have groups working in these areas. It is from this mutual interest that the NUMETA conference series was conceived with the main objective of providing a link between engineers developing new numerical techniques and those applying them in practice. Encouraged by the success of NUMETA '85, the second conference, NUMETA '87, was held at Swansea, 6-10 July 1987. Over two hundred and twenty abstracts were submitted for consideration together with a number of invited papers from experts in the field of numerical methods. The final selection of contributed and invited papers were of a high quality and have culminated in the two volumes which form these proceedings. This volume contains papers on the themes of 'Numerical Techniques for Engineering Analysis and Design' and 'Developments in Engineering Software'. Many new developments on a wide variety of topics have been reported and these proceedings contain a wealth of information and references which we believe will be of great interest to theoreticians and practising engineers alike.
