Book Synopsis Vortex Dominated Flows by : Denis L. Blackmore
Download or read book Vortex Dominated Flows written by Denis L. Blackmore and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2005 with total page 299 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Honoring the contributions of one of the field's leading experts, Lu Ting, this indispensable volume contains important new results at the cutting edge of research. A wide variety of significant new analytical and numerical results in critical areas are presented, including point vortex dynamics, superconductor vortices, cavity flows, vortex breakdown, shock/vortex interaction, wake flows, magneto-hydrodynamics, rotary wake flows, and hypersonic vortex phenomena. The book will be invaluable for those interested in the state of the art of vortex dominated flows, both from a theoretical and applied perspective.Professor Lu Ting and Joe Keller have worked together for over 40 years. In their first joint work entitled ?Periodic vibrations of systems governed by nonlinear partial differential equations?, perturbation analysis and bifurcation theory were used to determine the frequencies and modes of vibration of various physical systems. The novelty was the application to partial differential equations of methods which, previously, had been used almost exclusively on ordinary differential equations. Professsor Lu Ting is an expert in both fluid dynamics and the use of matched asymptotic expansions. His physical insight into fluid flows has led the way to finding the appropriate mathematical simplications used in the solutions to many difficult flow problems.

This book was released on 2016-03-02 with total page 312 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book contains a valuable discussion of renormalization through the addition of counterterms to the Lagrangian, giving the first complete proof of the cancellation of all divergences in an arbitrary interaction. The author also introduces a new method of renormalizing an arbitrary Feynman amplitude, a method that is simpler than previous approaches and can be used to study the renormalized perturbation series in quantum field theory.

This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 323 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A year has passed since Eshel Bresler, my good friend and colleague, and a member of the editorial board of the Advanced Series in Agricultural Sciences, died suddenly while on a visit to the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing. We had worked together for almost 30 years at the Institute of Soils and Water, ARO, The Volcani Center at Bet Dagan. At the very beginning of our scientific careers we cooperated directly and as a result one of our first publications was coauthored (Soil Sci. 101:205-209, 1966). Thereafter, our specific research interests diver sified, but we continued to work together, with similar approaches to research, and to strive towards the development of Israel soil science and its integration into general worldwide scientific progress. I don't need to emphasize Eshel's contribution to the understan ding of the processes governing water flow and solute transport pro cesses in soils and unsaturated zones. The contributions to this Volume by such a body of outstanding scientists shows the apprecia tion of the international scientific community to his research achievements.

Book Synopsis Soil-Water-Solute Process Characterization by : Javier Alvarez-Benedi
Download or read book Soil-Water-Solute Process Characterization written by Javier Alvarez-Benedi and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2019-09-23 with total page 816 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The practitioner or researcher often faces complex alternatives when selecting a method to characterize properties governing a soil process. After years of research and development, environmental and agricultural professionals now have an array of methods for characterizing soil processes. Well-established methods, however, may not be suitable for the specific conditions of a study since many soil characteristics are intrinsically variable. An objective, integrated approach for soil characterization is needed to more effectively quantify parameters. Soil-Water-Solute Process Characterization goes beyond technical guidance and addresses the complicating factors such as spatial and temporal variability of soil processes, scale issues, soil structure, and the trade-offs between methods. It focuses on advanced methods for the monitoring and modeling of mass transfer processes in soil. Expert contributors present limitations to well-known methods and alternatives, discussing their practical applications for characterization efforts, evaluating strengths and weaknesses, and focusing on a reduced set of selected techniques. Three in-depth sections cover everything from multidisciplinary approaches for assessing subsurface non-point source pollution to techniques for characterizing water and energy balances at the soil-plant-atmosphere interface, field methods for monitoring soil water status, and computer models for characterizing the effect of chemicals in soil. This single-source reference is transforming method selection and our understanding of the principles, advantages, and limitations of the available monitoring techniques. Written in a simple and straightforward manner, Soil-Water-Solute Process Characterization is a detailed cookbook and a useful, practical reference for students, practitioners, and researchers.

2e édition by : Philippe Traoré
Download or read book Simulation numérique en mécanique des fluides. 2e édition written by Philippe Traoré and published by Éditions Cépaduès. This book was released on 2022-08-10 with total page 11 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book Synopsis Maillage, modélisation géométrique et simulation numérique 1 by : Houman Borouchaki
Download or read book Maillage, modélisation géométrique et simulation numérique 1 written by Houman Borouchaki and published by ISTE Group. This book was released on 2017-05-01 with total page 377 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
