Book Synopsis Advanced Building Simulation by : Ali Malkawi
Download or read book Advanced Building Simulation written by Ali Malkawi and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2004-07-29 with total page 267 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book introduces recent advances in building simulation and outlines its historic development. Two important topics are described: uncertainty in simulation and coupled simulations, which are both closely linked to attempts to improve control and accuracy. This is followed by coverage of wind simulations and predictions, and then by an introduction to current systems and phenomenological modelling. Written by leading experts in the field both in the US and Europe, Advanced Building Simulation is an excellent graduate-level student textbook as well as a practical guide for architects, engineers and other construction professionals.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Second European Turbulence Conference was held at the Technische Univer sitat Berlin, Federal Republic of Germany, from August 30th to September 2nd 1988 under the auspices of the European Mechanics Committee. It was primar ily devoted to fundamental aspects of turbulence, and aimed at bringing together engineers, physicists, and mathematicians. The scientific committee - serving also as Sub-committee of the European Turbulence Conference - consisted of the following members: G. Comte-Bellot (Lyon), H.-H. Fernholz and H.E. Fiedler (both from Berlin) as co-chairmen of the conference, U. Frisch (Nice), J.C.R. Hunt (Cambridge), E. Krause (Aachen), M. Landahl (Stockholm), A.M. Obukhov (Moscow), and G. Ooms (Amsterdam). The conference programme comprised 6 invited lectures and 94 contributions, presented either orally or at poster sessions. There were 165 participants from 18 countries. All papers published in these conference proceedings were, with the exception of the invited ones, again refereed by the members of the scientific committee. The main research topics discussed at this meeting were stability and gener ation of turbulence, effects of rotation, stratification and buoyancy forces, novel instrumentation, manipulation and control, boundary layers with separation and reattachment, computer simulation, turbulent diffusion, image analysis and flow visualization, vorticity dynamics and turbulence, and large-scale structures. We have taken the liberty of regrouping some papers following the submitted final versions for this volume. Authors may therefore find their paper under a different heading from that in the conference programme.

Book Synopsis Numerical Simulation of Oscillatory Convection in Low-Pr Fluids by : Bernard Roux

This book was released on 2013-03-08 with total page 361 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For the last ten years, there has been an ever-increasing awareness that fluid motion and transport processes influenced by buoyancy are of interest in many fields of science and technology. In particular, a lot of research has been devoted to the oscillatory behaviour of metallic melts (low-Pr fluids) due to the very crucial impact of such flow oscillations on the quality of growing crystals, semi-conductors or metallic alloys, for advanced technology applications. Test cases on the 2D oscillatory convection in differentially heated cavities containing low-Pr fluids have been defined by the organizing committee, and proposed to the community in 1987. The GAMM-Worshop was attended by 55 scientists from 12 countries, in Oct. 1988 in Marseille (France). Twenty-eight groups contributed to the mandatory cases coming from France (12), other European countries (7) and other countries: USA, Japan and Australia (9). Several groups also presented solutions of various related problems such as accurate determination of the threshold for the onset of oscillations, thermocapillary effect in open cavities, and 3D simulations. Period doubling, quasi- periodic behaviour, reverse transition and hysteresis loops have been reported for high Grashof numbers in closed cavities. The workshop was also open to complementary contributions (5), from experiments and theory (stability and bifurcation analysis). The book contains details about the various methods employed and the specific results obtained by each contributor.
