Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Whereas 13 people made the pilgrimage to Compostela in 1978, hundreds of thousands now make the journey each year. To get the most out of the experience, it's best to prepare. That means knowing where you're going, what you're going to find, and answers to the 100 questions included in this book, including Who was Santiago? Did he walk this path? Why do so many of the pilgrims experience profound changes?

Will you find enough places to buy food from or restaurants to eat in? And what about if you are vegetarian - will you find adequate food to keep you going? Do you need to speak Spanish to walk the Camino? Do you need to be religious and / or baptized to do The Way? Where does the Camino start and how long does it take to walk "The Whole Way"? Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I am Tex Lang and I walked portions of the Camino Frances in September and October 2018 and again in March and April, 2019. This is an update of my first book Camino de Santiago Journey 2019 which I published in December of 2018. In this updated version I have added more tips and hints plus information relating to Covid-19 and the upcoming Holy Year of 2021.I was like most pilgrims who have not walked The Way in that I knew very little about this big undertaking. Oh sure, I researched like crazy on the web to get information. I shopped for clothing and everything else that might have been on this person's or that person's list. And I made a few mistakes. Now that I have 'been there' I know how I will do it differently in the future. And that information is what I bring to my readers plus many tips I learned on the ground in Spain. The hints I offer in this book are universal but my travel perspective is limited to the Camino Frances. I returned to the Camino in March of 2019 for a few more weeks and learned several more helpful tips.In this book you will learn What to take and what to leave behind. This will help keep what is in your backpack to a minimum. How to manage your money with options for a credit card or prepaid debit card and getting cash when you need it in Spain. Exact examples of clothing I took which worked perfectly for me and what did not, including shoes. I tried out six pair before making a selection and still did not have the right shoes. Next time it will be different. How to select your accommodations and insure there is a place for you at the end of the day. How to save time and money arranging for cell phone service in Spain. Which plan was the best for me and how you can find it. The best apps to have on your smartphone for planning your day to day, keeping track of the weather and even knowing that you are still on the trail!Which guidebooks are best and how to take them with you in your phone saving space and weight in your backpack. What to expect in your day to day Camino experience. This will raise your confidence about your ability to do this! What I learned from my own mistakes and those of others. I did not have a bad experience the first time. Far from it! It was wonderful! But I struggled because of unexpected physical difficulties and had to cut my Camino short. I am 74 years old as of this writing and am a 7-year lung cancer survivor. I have other physical challenges including sciatica, feet issues, hip problems, COPD and emphysema. With this in mind I have included in the book a section for older people considering the Camino and those who have a physical challenge of some sort. You will get the story of how things evolved for me and what steps I am taking to minimize the problems in the future. And, you will get to meet Millie, a 70+ yr. old retired school teacher from Maryland who completed the Camino. I will tell you what I learned from this tiny lady and how she inspired me for my future undertakings.

Book excerpt: bookdown: Authoring Books and Technical Documents with R Markdown presents a much easier way to write books and technical publications than traditional tools such as LaTeX and Word. The bookdown package inherits the simplicity of syntax and flexibility for data analysis from R Markdown, and extends R Markdown for technical writing, so that you can make better use of document elements such as figures, tables, equations, theorems, citations, and references. Similar to LaTeX, you can number and cross-reference these elements with bookdown. Your document can even include live examples so readers can interact with them while reading the book. The book can be rendered to multiple output formats, including LaTeX/PDF, HTML, EPUB, and Word, thus making it easy to put your documents online. The style and theme of these output formats can be customized. We used books and R primarily for examples in this book, but bookdown is not only for books or R. Most features introduced in this book also apply to other types of publications: journal papers, reports, dissertations, course handouts, study notes, and even novels. You do not have to use R, either. Other choices of computing languages include Python, C, C++, SQL, Bash, Stan, JavaScript, and so on, although R is best supported. You can also leave out computing, for example, to write a fiction. This book itself is an example of publishing with bookdown and R Markdown, and its source is fully available on GitHub.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This classic text, the last major work by the great Hebrew Bible scholar Gerhard von Rad, has long been unavailable in North America. It is now being reissued in paperback from to satisfy the continuing demand for copies of the book. In brief, the subject of von Rad's study of Hebrew wisdom is Israel's willingness to ground faith in encounter with the world as the creation of God. Those familiar with the author's Old Testament Theology will recall how he identified two great watersheds in the history of Israel's thought. The first was the rise of the prophetic movement, which occasioned a radical reinterpretation of Israel's religious traditions as expressed in the earliest creedal formulations found in the Pentateuch. The second watershed, which preceded the prophetic movement and was a basically different assessment of Israel's relation to Yahweh, was achieved by wisdom teachers at the start of the monarchy. This book studies this first and somewhat novel break with Israel's older sacral traditions. Von Rad bases the study on a wide range of literary materials principally concerned with the books of Proverbs, Job, Ecclesiastes, and the Wisdom of Ben Sirach. "No finer introduction to the fundamental theological questions raised by the wisdom literature of Israel is available." Theology Today Gerhard von Rad was for many years Professor of Old Testament at the University of Heidelberg.

First, it is, to the extent feasible, based on comparable information on the status and trends of major indicators of the state of the environment in Canada,Mexico, and the United States. Second, the report confirms that these three countries together make up an incredibly complex, dynamic, and interconnected ecosystem in which humans play a dominant and decisive role. Third, the report raises important and sometimes disquieting questions concerning the sustainability of some current trends. Finally, the report is a reminder that our economic, social, and physical well-being are utterly dependent on the life-sustaining services provided by nature. This report emphasizes the importance of developing mutually compatible economic, social, and environmental goals and policies across the three-country region.

He proclaimed that we would experience life at its fullest only when we organize our lives around the Kingdom. E. Stanley Jones suggests that life in any other way is a muddled, maddening, and impossible way to live. Throughout the centuries we have lost the Kingdom as a clearly defined and workable system for order and influence in our daily lives. We have reduced the Kingdom by putting it into narrower molds, a refuge now, a present security, a future hope, anything but the Kingdom as Jesus preached it - God's total answer to man's total need now." Dr. Jones shows us how to claim our spiritual heritage and the abundant life promised us by embracing the Kingdom and Person of Jesus. He suggests how our experience with God and His Kingdom should be taught and shared in the life of the individual, in the life of the church and in the nations of the world.
