This book was released on 2015-06-15 with total page 307 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Help! He’s herding the neighborhood kids!!
Herding breed dogs such as Border Collies, Corgis, and Australian Shepherds have incredibly strong instinctive behaviors to do the work they were bred for—controlling various kinds of livestock. These behaviors manifest themselves in modern herding breed dogs kept as companions or family pets in a number of ways. These include chasing cars and bicyclists, herding kids, nipping at vulnerable heels, barking incessantly, and acting as the “fun police” in dog parks. All behaviors that are entirely appropriate and necessary when dealing with sheep or cattle, not so great in a suburban neighborhood. Fortunately, these instincts can be redirected in a number of ways that keep these energetic dogs busy and happy as well as out of trouble. That is why so many of these dogs can be taught to excel in agility and obedience trials, love to retrieve, and make great running companions. In her latest book, author Dawn Antoniak-Mitchell offers solutions to solving and preventing problem behaviors associated with herding breeds living in the modern world. And no, even though your Border Collie or Corgi might love it, you don’t need to buy a farm!

As the owner of two obsessive but outstanding herding dogs, I found myself nodding along in agreement with this book from start to finish. Dawn offers tips to allow a handler to work with, rather than against a dog’s herding instincts and her easy-to-read writing style and the depth of information she shares makes this book a must read for anyone who works or lives with herding dogs.
Nicole Larocco-Skeehan, CPDT-KA and member of the Board of Directors, CCPDT

A super resource that explains how instinctive behaviors impact dogs in their every day activities. I especially like the training tips—very clear and helpful explanations to manage problems often brought out by a variety of herding instincts.
Lynn Leach, owner of Downriver Stock Dog Training and creator of the popular All Breed Herding DVD series

A wonderful mix of training information, management suggestions, psychology, and commonsense advice for herding dog owners. Easy to read and filled with gems of information for all dog owners—like eliminating annoying barking! I highly recommend this book for trainers and owners of any breed of dog.
Gail Tamases Fisher, CDBC and author of The Thinking Dog

If you have chosen to bring a herding breed in to your life and home this is the book for you! Dawn takes the reader through the history of herding breeds in order to help you understand the why behind some of the obsessive-compulsive behaviors your herding breed may be exhibiting. Better yet, Dawn then offers up specific exercises and training techniques to help herding breed owners become as valuable as livestock in the eyes of their herding dog. You owe it to your herding breed to read this book!
Gerianne Darnell, author of Canine Crosstraining: Achieving Excellence in Multiple Dog Sports

Dawn Antoniak-Mitchell is the author of Terrier-Centric Training, and From Birdbrained to Brilliant. She is the owner of BonaFide Dog Academy in Omaha, Nebraska.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Maybelle Lane is looking for her father, but on the road to Nashville she finds so much more: courage, brains, heart--and true friends. Eleven-year-old Maybelle Lane collects sounds. She records the Louisiana crickets chirping, Momma strumming her guitar, their broken trailer door squeaking. But the crown jewel of her collection is a sound she didn't collect herself: an old recording of her daddy's warm-sunshine laugh, saved on an old phone's voicemail. It's the only thing she has of his, and the only thing she knows about him. Until the day she hears that laugh--his laugh--pouring out of the car radio. Going against Momma's wishes, Maybelle starts listening to her radio DJ daddy's new show, drinking in every word like a plant leaning toward the sun. When he announces he'll be the judge of a singing contest in Nashville, she signs up. What better way to meet than to stand before him and sing with all her heart? But the road to Nashville is bumpy. Her starch-stiff neighbor Mrs. Boggs offers to drive her in her RV. And a bully of a boy from the trailer park hitches a ride, too. These are not the people May would have chosen to help her, but it turns out they're searching for things as well. And the journey will mold them into the best kind of family--the kind you choose for yourself.

This book was released on 2014-01-21 with total page 332 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This first study of the antipolygamy movement in the United States traces its growth from a Utah-based women's group into a national crusade where it sparked a debate in suffrage politics. The author analyzes this debate, highlighting the differing views of marriage, family, and the role of women held by suffrage leaders, Mormon women, and antipolygamy reformers. Antipolygamy rhetoric masked a more significant debate within women's groups about the structure and meaning of the American family. Coming in the post-Civil War period, the antipolygamy agenda reflects an attempt to re-construct the Republican family, diminish patriarchal authority, and improve the status of women. The reaction of the antipolygamy women was also more than a struggle for power. Their adherence to the Republican family was a discourse involving not just rhetoric, but a whole range of cultural forms and institutions which provided women with status, moral authority, and an identity. Often the fear of polygamy was mingled with anxiety over the increase in divorce and the emergence of the new woman. Ironically, by the end of the long congressional battle over Utah and the Mormons, both the rhetoric of polygamy and antipolygamy were used against the women's movement.

Will Samael and Prior be able to bring this world to its knees by trying to quell all the righteous souls they come across and furthering the book titled The Wicked? After Maria Cortez, an unrivaled child genius, is miraculously saved from a 'runaway' semi truck, she makes it her mission to help her newfound protector find his way in this world. Through her interaction with him, she may just find her way into parts of this world she has never experienced, but her willpower might just get her into more trouble than she can handle. When Justin Shepherd jumped in front of that semi truck, it was instinct. He's a warrior, or he was in the life he knew before. But that was before. Now, he's not so sure. With the help of Maria and her friends, Justin will face one of his oldest adversaries and pieces of Shepherd's Tale will be unraveled. Will Justin Shepherd be able to fulfill his mission, or will worldly distractions get in his way? How far will Maria go to do the things that she feels led to do? Find out as new author Victor Abney orchestrates a thrilling adventure of the most dangerous kind. It's not just lives that hang in the balance; it's souls. Victor Abney lives in Tulare, California, the dairy capital of the world and home of the worlds largest farm show. As a self-taught artist, Victor enjoys creating in several different fashions, from writing to woodworking. In Shepherd's Tale, Victor paints the pictures through words as he creates an imaginary world full of darkness and light, much like our own.
